I had the double chocolate cream pie. YUMMMMMMMMM . . . My friend had a fruit pie. The coffee was good. I saw other guests enjoying pastas, sandwiches, and other desserts and they seemed to be enjoying their meals. Our server was awesome and very personable. Parking is the standard small town curbside parallel parking. There is a small gift shop with some interesting signs (see photo). I HIGHLY recommend this local business.

We stopped by to order some pies after hearing great things (and yes--the pies do live up to the hype). We're visiting from California, so we were excited to try it out. The man who took our order was genuinely kind and made us feel welcome--10/10 for him. While waiting, my kids sat down at a table near the pies (I get it--not ideal on our part). But the hostess's reaction was... intense. Instead of a quick, polite redirect, we were told to leave in a way that felt unnecessarily rude. Even the guests she was seating noticed and commented on it, which says a lot. Look, I completely understand rules are rules--but delivery matters. A little kindness goes a long way, especially when you're dealing with families. So overall: amazing pies, friendly ordering experience, but the hostess might need a hug... and maybe a refresher on customer service. We'd love to come back for the pie, but the experience definitely left a bit of a sour taste.

A Hidden Gem in Clarkdale!…read more This little coffee shop tucked inside an old caboose train is one of the most charming and delicious spots we've ever discovered. The authenticity of the food is beyond amazing--every single thing we've tried has been packed with flavor and made with so much care. We make it a point to come here every time we're in town, and it never disappoints. Yes, the line can get long, but that's always a good sign--and trust me, it's totally worth the wait. There's something so special about this hole-in-the-wall gem. It has the kind of character and warmth you just can't replicate. We love Violettes!! We ate our food too fast so no pics of the food! Our favorites are the spinach quiche and the cinnamon roll on Thurs/Sat. :) I love this place deeply and truly hope it sticks around for a very, very, very, very long time--because I plan to retire here one day, and this caboose café is a part of that dream!

Fortunately they weren't too expensive ($15 for a sandwich and pastry) but would be nice to have the prices listed. The sandwich was alright, though I wasn't the biggest fan of the turkey. The pastry was also alright, but I would probably pass on it if I came again. Service was good and the dining area is pleasant. The line can be a bit long but overall I had a good experience.

Now, there may be a line and the line may be out the door because this is a small shop and it is very popular. The line moves quickly, so never fear. You should fear that they might sell out of your favorite donut if you don't get here quickly. They have people waiting outside even before they open. I am no donut expert but there is no question these donuts look good and taste good. But in my experience, the cheapo donuts you can get from the random immigrant-owned shops in just about every city also taste good for about half the price or even less. But these are very nice looking and good tasting donuts, don't get me wrong. They have signs here and there inside the store indicating this place is a Top 100 or even a Top 50 donut shop in the country, I guess. I don't know how you rank donut shops but hey, maybe they are. They have cool t-shirts and other merch for sale here, too. This is a very solid donut shop, if that's your jam or jelly.

We made sure to arrive early and pick up on our way to the Grand Canyon. Around 730am ish their supply was excellent - they had lots of classics and specials as well with catchy names : D We opted for a few classics and my fave - the Apple fritter. I like to taste test everywhere we visit. My first impression- thin and crispy with a sugar glaze on top. First bite- I loved the thin and crispy outer texture , tasted the sugar glaze and cinnamon, but where were the apple pieces or chunks? A little disappointing. Maple was good. They sell their own brand merchandise and hot/cold drinks. There are a few tables to sit at inside and outside. Located in a small strip mall, parking was ample.

Limited selection compared to bigger bakeries. But here's the thing. What they do have is exactly what you want. No filler, no wasted space, just a tight lineup of pastries that are actually worth buying. We've gone in more than once thinking, "Alright, one pastry each, quick stop." That plan never survives contact with the display case. You start pointing things out, adding one more, then another, and suddenly you're walking out with a full box. My go-to is the Bavarian cream pastry. It's perfect. Not overly sweet, not heavy, just balanced and done right. It's the kind of thing you finish and immediately think about grabbing another. The pricing almost feels like a mistake in your favor. On our last visit, we bought enough pastries for ten people, with extras left over, and it came out to just under $20. Back near our place in Rhode Island, that same box would easily be double. Probably more. Here, it feels like you're getting away with something. And then there's the service. The woman we usually see there is genuinely kind. Not forced, not transactional. Just warm, welcoming, and happy to see people walk in the door. It adds to the whole experience in a way that's hard to fake. This place doesn't try to impress you. It just quietly delivers every time you show up. If you're anywhere near Cottonwood, stop in. You'll go in for one thing and leave with more, and you won't regret it.
