i first came to Make It Fit (the old location off Imperial HWY) 3 years ago, hesitant as I'd never been to an alteration place - I had a uniform sweater that I just couldn't stand anymore because it was waaaaaay too big. The team at Make It Fit knew EXACTLY what I wanted (slim, fitted) and was totally cool about it - and when I went to go pick it back up, it was EXACTLY how I had imagined it to be. ...That was 3 years ago, and many garments later, they did the impossible - yet again. I brought to them my favorite black bomber-style jacket from H&M with rips, tears, holes, you name it... (and if anyone's ever bought anything from H&M, you'd know that it'd fall apart after 3 days, if that...), and they patched it up, sewed all the holes, and made the torn seams look like it's supposed to be there, and now it's got a brand new identity and brand new life!! I then returned last week to give them my favorite pair of grey jeans, and through so many washes/wears, it's gotten baggy and just plain yuck - I told them to make it "in style" and make it "skinny" and OMG it totally rocks!!! It fits in all the right places, and it makes me feel good because I'm the only one with these jeans!! THank you thank you thank you, ladies at Make It Fit!! I was extremely disappointed by their customer service, and they messed up the look of my ball gown as well. Walked in, one of the Russian ladies helped me, she was the older one. She called the other lady to figure out how they would fix the length of the dress. When I picked it up, they had completely ruined the front so that it looked like I had a fat stomach, and the back of the gown was flattened at the butt, so now I have no butt. The length was right, but they messed up the asymmetrical pin-ups, so that ...bleh I just can't describe it. All I wanted was it to be an inch shorter... As for customer service, the front desk lady was just plain rude. I saw her dealing with a customer in front of me (yes it was a difficult customer) in a not-so-good manner. read more

I have gone here quite a few times to take my formal dresses and such to get hemmed or altered. At first there was never an issue...the service was great...the prices were reasonable...and the turn around time was superb. Then as soon as they changed locations, the service took a HUGE dump. I brought a bridesmaid dress in to them to have hemmed and taken in and they botched that job up SO much! It was waaaaaaaay too tight on top (wardrobe malfunctions GALORE!) but didn't adjust the outer fabric to match so not only was the top extremely tight...it managed to look puffy and dis-proportioned...AND they didn't hem the dress as much as was needed so I was tripping all night at the wedding. Now I realize that everywhere has their off times...and since I had so many good experiences with them before the bridesmaid dress incident...I recently took another dress to them to hem...and the service was absolutely TERRIBLE! Their prices went up (and both of them tried to argue with me as to what I had paid previously for a hemming when I questioned if they had raised their prices) and it was just one thing after another! I will NEVER take ANYTHING to them again! Do yourselves a favor and look elsewhere for a tailor. This place is just NOT worth it anymore. read more

Short and sweet: $5, 5 mins, 5* service. Very happy with original styled hem. I'm coming back with more pants to be hemmed as soon as they come back from the cleaners. -------------------------- I called ahead with a last minute alteration. I needed hems to a new pair of pants taken up, as I didn't realize I had picked up the wrong leg length a few days prior when I purchased them and needed them for school/work within the hour. The lady I spoke to over the phone was straight to the point and told me they could do them right away, so I came in and the pants were ready within 10 minutes @ $5!!! I checked the hems and the stitching was good quality, and they even made sure to keep it the same style as the original. *In response to some of the comments on "rude" staff. I wouldn't necessarily say that the staff was rude, but their style seems to be "short and to the point." I was very courteous and polite myself, and the responses I got back were short and monotone - not rude. I would not let this type of attitude keep you from coming here, at all. read more

Love this place! Came in here with a leather backpack that had its strap barely hanging on by a piece of thread, seeing if there was anything that could to do salvage my favorite piece. Not only was the gal SUPER SWEET, but she took a look at it and sent it to the back to see if it could get fixed. 4 minutes later, she comes out with my backpack better than before AND usable!!! I came here to tailor my suit and was waiting in line for 10 minutes to get fitted but the lady working here allowed somebody else with several garments to cut in front of me. This is disrespectful and inconsiderate. I left and will take my business elsewhere. read more

This place is awesome. I came in here after buying a pair of pants at the mall on a friday, but they were a little too short to wear with heels. So I had to have the hem altered. And I needed them before Monday morning for work. AND I'm going out of town for the weekend. The lady said I could come back later that day and pick them up. When I went to pay, she looked at my pants once more and told me to wait and she would just do them right then and there. I was stoked. I will be bringing by all of my clothes that need to be fixed later this week. I highly recommend coming here for your alterations. $8 for a hem. Turnaround time is average. Service was fine. I really had no complaints. I'm not well-versed on the many different types of hems. So as long as the stitches stay stitched and my pants are no longer sweeping the floor (as my dad tells me), then I'm a happy girl. Would I come back? Sure. Because being too short in a world of long pants sucks. The new location in Brea is spacious (although I never went to the old location). My wife went in for a wedding dress alteration scheduled a week in advance. She had paid upfront for the work on her dress and all subsequent fittings. When she got there, it turns out they were overwhelmed with other work and could not hold the appointment. Additionally, the employee she was scheduled with was not even present for the intended appointment. She had to wait another week and when she finally did receive the service she had paid for. When she did receive service, she had a great experience with the woman altering her dress. In the end, the outcome was entirely satisfactory, however, the disorganization leading up to that caused us undue stress in an already stressful wedding season. read more

I only wish I could have had the chance to get my wedding dress altered here. I guess I should have know there would be trouble when they didn't answer the phone to my several calls over three days to make an appointment. With out having an appointment I thought I'd email... No answer that way either, so I walked in and was created with hostility. Only to be told this is too much work. Wow!! I came here due to the high yelp reviews received. I needed to get my suit pants waist adjusted and didn't want to go to any cheap place to get them done since these are really nice pants. It costs $15 to get the waists adjusted. You can definitely find cheaper at one of those asian places but those always seem a bit sketchy. The finished product looked great; you can't even tell the pants were tailored at all. The seems look good (at least for a regular consumer like myself). 4 changing rooms to allow for multiple customers to be helped simultaneously. They had my pants ready the following day after I brought it in- easy fix so fast turn around. In and out within 15 minutes each time. read more

These women are awesome! I brough my wedding dress here to be fitted and it came out amazing. The top part is all lace and needed a lot of taking in.....can't even tell! The women are so pleasant, the shop very nice and dressing rooms very spacious. I came here becase of the Yelp reviews and I was not dissappointed! I am no where close to this place but I will definitely be coming back when I need other alterations done. Appointments are good for wedding dress alterations since they're so complicated. This place is great. A no-fuss tailor shop! Really nice inside. The decor is classy. The prices are the best in town and they can get stuff done REALLY quick- same day in some cases without charging you extra for speedy service. I brought in my Bridesmaids dress because I needed a hem in less than a couple days. The place I bought my dress for was going to charge me $45!!! CRAZY! So, I called up Make It Fit and the lady told me over the phone $26, without even seeing my dress! I went in thinking once she saw it, it was going to be more, but it wasn't, I paid $26 and my dress was ready as soon as I needed it! It took her no time at all to measure and fit the length of my dress as well! It was the least stressful part of being in the wedding. I will go to Make It Fit for ALL my tailoring. I searched high and low for a unique/all lace gown and ended up finding a beautiful spanish/bohemian inspired San Patrick sample @ Make It Fit/ Juliana's Bridal. It is truly a one-of-a-kind dress and it was even on sale. Only problem was it was quite a few sizes too big (and continued to be more so as I lost more weight). Altering this multi-patterned/heavy/all-lace gown was no small feat and Make It Fit did a wonderful job! I also feel that the prices are GREAT for such quality work. I don't know any brides that had more alterations than I did and they all paid more for their bridal dress fittings. Juliana is such a kind/sweet woman, and always put me at ease. When I first got there, the girl at the front desk didn't quite seem to know what she was doing or how to answer the simplest of questions (perhaps she was training?). But when the owner was available, she came to the rescue! I did not follow through with their service, but I must say the owner was to the point and knew exactly what she was doing. I didn't feel pressured to make certain alternations, but she even suggested things (like putting in bra strap holders inside a bridesmaid dress) that I hadn't considered before. The price is ultimately what made me not utilize her service, but if I were a guy, I would definitely take advantage of her deals. read more

One of the best tailor shops I've experienced. While the wait at the counter can be sometimes long, the quality of the alterations are first rate and prices are fair. I needed a special rush and they had my pant legs hemmed and suit sleeves hemmed in about 6 hours. They also have a $3.00 hem price on their website if you show it to them on your phone. I bought a dress for Christmas (Buy One Get One Free Deal) and I didn't even try it on. The dress looked okay, but the top was a bit off. I took it in and she showed me what I could do to improve the dress. The dress looks much better on me and she had it done in a couple of days. I take all of my jeans here to be altered, but this was my first dress. This is also their new location which I like because it's much closer to me. read more

I have taken several items of clothing here and had no problems. They were quick, nice, and provided exactly what I wanted. I had no complaints. On my last visit I brought in two pairs of pants for a hem and a taper. Went in, quick sizing and friendly staff. However, when I picked up my pants, I was not happy. I was pretty mad but I know sometimes things happen so I called and talked to the girl who is always there. She told me to bring them back and she will see what she can do. I love this place! I came here on a Thursday to drop off a prom dress to get hemmed, and it was ready for me by Tuesday. The employee was super patient-- I originally asked for just one inch hemmed off the bottom, but when I later decided that I would wear a shorter pair of high heels, she gladly allowed me to come in again on Monday (the day before I was supposed to pick it up) and remeasure the hem. She had already cut off the one inch (but hadn't sewn the ends yet) but still allowed me to change it with no extra charge!! And I was still able to pick it up on the originally scheduled day. The service here is really great. Also, the quality of the alteration is amazing!!! It looks like it wasn't even altered at all. :) I didn't make an appointment, and there wasn't a wait when I first came to drop off my dress. However, when I was picking up my dress, some people had lined up already (but just to pick up their clothing too). I definitely recommend coming here for reliable service! read more

I have been looking for a good and reliable tailor to alter my jean. I did it once long time ago somewhere else and they messed up my designer jeans. I found this place on yelp and decide to alter my jeans here. First I walked in, I was very impressed with the place. The owner is really sweet and friendly. I went there in the morning. She was very busy so I had to wait quite a while. She ended up gave me a discount for my alteration. It was a very good deal ;) $10 for hem, $16 for resizing the waist, $12 for tapering the legs (before discount); It's pretty pricey compare with other places but the quality of work is worth it. Make sure you go to their website and print out the coupon before you go so you can get the discount. Overall, If they can adjust the price a little bit, I would give them 5 stars cuz I know I'm not going to get my clothes alter in the discount price every time. I still like this place and I'll definitely go back there for my couture alterations. read more

My boyfriend has dropped of dress shirts as well to get hemmed and they did an awesome job. Really good work and a quick turn around. Julia and one of her employees were extremely accommodating on a last min wedding suit alteration. They were nice, extremely professional and responsible on finishing by the estimated time. They hemmed my pants for free given it was my first time there... and steamed my whole suit and dress shirt free of charge as well! Their work is good, however, their organizational and customer service skills leave much to be desired, which is why I'm giving them only two stars. They lost a pair of my favorite jeans that they were taking in at the waist. They haven't been able to contact the customer they *think* they accidentally gave them to, and when I call them to get a status (over the course of three separate days) they don't answer the phone and their memory is full so I can't even leave a message. The girl I spoke to yesterday said that she would have her boss call me when she got in later that day to determine our next steps, but she never called. Today, AGAIN, I've tried calling 3 times, no one answers and their memory is still full. Unacceptable in so many levels! read more

I have to say that this place is totally Awesome! I came in here to get a new pair of pants hemmed for my brother's wedding and it only cost $6! We originally thought about getting it done at Macy's where we bought all of the groomsmens' suits. But when we asked how much it would cost the guy working at Macy's actually suggested we took our stuff to Make It Fit because they do it cheaper and faster. So we took his advice and needless to say I am a satisfied customer. If I didn't live so far I would come back to do business with them more often. A little side story: The day that I brought my pants in to get hemmed I had forgot my vest at the store. When I had realized it they were already closed for the day. I tried calling a couple days later to see if it was still "around" or not but no one answered the phone. I got a little bit worried thinking that I would have to spend another $50 to replace that vest from Macy's... But sure enough when I went to pick up my pants today (2 weeks later) they had my vest as well! I was SO happy, I thanked the ladies there and heck I might even bring them a cheesecake someday. Took my wedding gown here for alterations. They were incredibly easy to work with, very fast, and did a great job! I was pretty easy and only needed it hemmed, but when I tried it on after alteration #1, the petticoat was bunching in the front, causing my dress to fall in an odd way. Julianna saw it before I did and promised it would be fixed next time around. I didn't even try it on again until the wedding day, and as promised, it was flawless! First thing: the service at the store is great! The store itself looks very classy and is comfortable to be in. There are many dressing rooms in the case that it gets busy, and the rooms are well maintained. As for my experience, I needed to get a suit tailored for an event on Saturday, so I brought it in on Monday and had it by Thursday evening. The person helping me was very accommodating to my time needs and I really appreciate that. I will likely come back to get my other tailoring work done because it is located in a very easy to access plaza with very accessible hours for pickup and drop-off.
