I brought him my mustang after half the exhaust randomly fell off and he was quick to get me checked in. ultimately due to all the issues he later discovered including numerous exhaust leaks, he essentially rebuilt my entire exhaust in less than 2 days flat. lightning fast service in my book as I had just collected my car after having it in a shop for about a month before having James work his magic. when i left, the car felt smoother to drive and sounded absolutely incredible. the price for me was a hard pill to swallow, but for the speed and quality of service I received, I can 100% say it was well worth it. Go with James. Just hit 700 miles after getting my breaks and rotors replaced so it's time to make a review. I went to 3 other shops and called around before I decided to go to Major muffler for my recently purchased 98 suburban. I'm a very picky and cautious person and James eased my mind with his knowledge and his great communication especially while the repairs were in progress! They also were willing to work with my schedule for drop off. He found passenger side wheel bearings were seized up and called before replacing it. I was surprised how fast the repairs were made and they kept the old parts so I could look them over after. During the test drive he found a couple other concerns and promptly informed me of these. I had them fixed and the following weekend took a trip to Eureka and down the coast. It felt like a whole new beast! I went in to have my muffler repaired on my 1990 Jeep Wrangler at the beginning of April 2024. The guys at the shop told me my idle was high and suggested a tune up, with new spark plugs and wires along with some other things that I am certain I am forgetting. They had my Jeep for about a week diagnosing the various problems it had. That whole week the communication from James was outstanding, he keep me in the loop with everything and it was very apparent he and the people at that shop care about your vehicle and doing a good job. After changing 02 sensors and a catalytic converter and spending thousands it still wouldn't pass. The company I went to A1 smog blamed major muffler so I took it back to James. James threw parts at me and told me I didn't have to pay him unless my truck passed smog. I was dreading replacing both catalytic converters. That cost thousands of dollars. I appreciate him so much because the next test it passed with flying colors. The best auto service I have ever received 12/10! I went in to get my mufflers done on my 2018 Mustang. Troy and the mechanic (I believe his name was Brian) were absolutely amazing. Troy set an appointment for me and they were timely and respectful. Brian went through in detail what he was doing to the car and even let me walk underneath it while he was explaining. I asked a ton of questions and they didn't mind at all! They answered them and were happy to talk. They let me take my car for test drives in between doing work on it to make sure I liked the way it sounded on the road. They even painted my tips to a matte black with no additional charge because they didn't have the size/color I wanted in stock. This place reminded that there are still shops out there who are all about the customer. The guy spent a few minutes with me figuring out what I was looking to get out of a new exhaust, (sound, performance etc..), helped me choose which system would best fit my needs, and gave me a quote. They wound up putting in more parts than originally planned because it was more efficient that way, and worked on it a 2nd time simply to fine tune it how I wanted. They gave me what I wanted out of the exhaust, spent extra time working on it, and even when I was expecting to pay a little more for the extra parts and time they stuck to the original quote. When I offered he said something along the lines of "Our goal is to make our customers happy and do our best to give them exactly what they were looking for. sometimes that takes a little extra time..." In my book this is a trustworthy and professional shop, that's earned each one of my five stars. My original review was under a previous owner. The new owner, James, is a really nice guy but I have spent a fortune with him for a recurring problem he has been unable to fix. I've had all new plugs, wires, catalytic converter and various other things done by them. My check engine light is on . It has been going on and off ever since the original appointment. I would be on a trip and it would be on. I would come home and park it Sunday and by Monday morning the light would be off. He said he could only diagnose it if the light was on. Now I'm home and the light is finally on in my driveway and he won't look at it. He says he is the only tech in the shop and he's only doing exhaust work now. It's not that he can't check it, he won't. I'm not happy as originally he thought he knew what was wrong, but even though I said replace that part, he didn't, I guess just trying to be a nice guy. We argued about it a little and he said if it turned out that was the problem (oxygen sensor) he would replace it free. Now I have to go somewhere else and if it is the oxygen sensor, this nightmare has all been for nothing and I'll have to pay someone else to fix it right. read more

I am a firm believer that if you find a shop that does quality work than you stick with the business for life. Been to this shop twice now for a couple flow master mufflers and have never been disappointed. They show you what their going to do and why they are charging what their charging and test whatever muffler until you find the one you want. Excellent customer service, Troy and Jim put my truck on the lift and had me listen to different mufflers so I could find the one I wanted. They had me out of there within 30 minutes after. GREAT! Customer service is the best thing I could say. Especially because I work a job that requires customer service myself. I have high standards and pay close attention to the way I am treated when I am paying someone else to perform a task for me. I just happened to see the gate open on a Saturday and stopped in. He told me that they were closed on Saturdays. But he offered to replace my muffler that day on the spot and was happy to do so. He had a smile on his have the whole time and enjoined the work he was doing. And to top it off he gave me a very decent price. I have gone in to Major muffler for exhaust upgrades for two of my vehicles and had terrific service at a decent price. So based upon my previous experience I decided to go back for additional work. I was going to upgrade the exhaust on our project car and needed the AC recharged as well. I went in and talked with a guy I have never seen there before and asked him get a quote for exhaust and the AC. I was given a fairly high price for the exhaust work, but was willing to pay since they did good work in the past. He was unable to give me an estimate on the AC and said I would have to bring the car in to see what kind of AC system we had. I thought this was kind of odd but said okay. So the following day I brought the car in so they could see the system. I spoke with the same guy as the day before, and told him I was yesterday and brought my car in for him to look at. He didn't even get off his stool, looked out the window then made a call, yelled at one off his shop techs an then said the AC work would be $500. That was in addition to the $900 estimate for the exhaust. What the heck did I need to bring my car in for if he wasn't going to bother to look at it! At that moment I decided this shop wasn't going to get my business. What a lazy employee! Not sure if he thought I was some sap that didn't know anything. All I have to say is don't judge a book by its cover. Long story short I shopped around got our exhaust done with the same level of quality for $500 and the AC done for $250. Due to the lack of respect and service I won't ever be going back to this shop. read more

I got recommended this place to get my alternator/serpentine belt replaced from jiffy lube. After asking about their FREE esimates, I went in after a hour off the phone. I was quoted 90 a hr and it would take my car 1 1/2 hours to repair and a total of 170 plus tax. They started working on my car at 9:16 am and finished at 10:05am. I asked for him to only charge me for a hr and not a hr and a half. He looked at me dumbfounded. He refused to give me my money back and said, "This is what keeps the lights on in this place." I have been going to this shop for years, Troys prices are fair and basic repairs are never a problem. I had a hiccup there when having some performance upgrades done. It was too much for his mechanic and it took more time then it should have from the original price quote and he charged me for the added time. I broke down outside of town on my way home from San Francisco on a Sunday, and I had my car towed to Major Muffler on the recommendation of someone who worked at the Redding Walmart. I spoke to Troy first thing Monday morning and they got right on the problem. I was referred to this shop after having a rattling noise and stopped at Les Schwab to have someone listen, and guy thought it might be my muffler so suggested Major Muffler who did their so called "free inspection" and said the muffler was fine but there were other possible problems so they needed car for a day. I needed a good tuneup, so agreed to have anything fixed that it required. Ended up having extra work done and thought the senior discount would help a little, but total costs were close to $730, which was due to part of job done off site. However, car was only there from about 10:30 to 3:00 and was charged 6 hrs. labor. And the original rattling noise continued to get worse so I scheduled appt. with another shop, and now my red "service needed" light has come on after I had just had it serviced!! I wish I would have taken car somewhere else now. (update, had diagnostics done at new place and they fixed several other problems that were not found at Major, also needed a new radiator and hoses, but the rattling noise was due to a broken clip on my bumper which they fixed, and was the least expensive problem!) read more
