I had a check engine light come on my Nissan Xterra. I had the code checked P0430. This is a common code for catalytic converts. I called around and J & K Muffler had the best price, could get me in fast, and the customer service was amazing. They went above and beyond. I drove down for my appointment and the check engine light had gone off. I told the owner. He check the codes and nothing showed. He recommended that I keep driving. I took my car over to J and K to have them look at it and provide an estimate to make some custom pipe work for my exhaust. They quoted me a reasonable and fair price for the work, fortunately they were free to do the work so they pulled my car in right then. Can't say enough about Chris who did the labor to bend and mount the pipe on my vehicle, he even tolerated me watching him work and asking questions. I scheduled my hot rod in for custom exhaust tips, they were ready when I arrived and put my car on the lift, about two minutes later he brought to my attention that the right muffler was very close to my brake cable and was starting to melt the insulation off and said he would make necessary adjustments to fix the problem at no extra charge.....A few minutes later I was on my way home with two brand new tips and guess what, the intermittent rattle at stop signs had disappeared......talk about professionalism and attention to detail ........ I failed a visual inspection at the smog shop due to an air pipe not being secured to the catalytic converter... j and k took care of it no problem! The bolts were broken off and i was looking at a pricy repair to get the catalytic converter replaced. This shop is very good and very thorough. We brought our 06 cobalt SS in to have the muffler replaced. After carefully looking at our exhaust system he found that the catalytic converter was not fully welded on. This work had been done at another shop recently. If you don't have an immediate need for a muffler or muffler related issues, then who cares... right. But when you do, it suddenly becomes an expensive adventure... This is a family run place. Been in the community a long time. They get the value of good word of mouth. This is also the place other shops that don't do mufflers will refer you too. When I went there, there were two custom cars in the bay on lifts... perfectly restored classic autos that looked to be worth quite a bit. They obviously do good work if car nuts trust them. They were quick and super fair. The work they did is still in place and I have recommended them to others who had similar experiences. Finding a great quality, fair and honest mechanic is invaluable. I went to J&K to have my catalytic converters replaced. They were honest enough to tell me I only needed one replaced (thus cutting the bill in half) and then pointed out a problem with my muffler and applied a temporary weld at no charge. When I returned a few weeks later to have the muffler replaced, they completed the job in half the time and the repair came in about 30.00 under their quote.
