A New Orleans style Oyster raw bar in the heart of Williamsburg Brooklyn. Bar itself is very busy on the weekends and the back courtyard is by reservation only. There are tables on the sidewalk for walk-ins however. Highlights include extensive list of raw oysters from east and West Coast and a wide range of small plates. There is also a creative cocktail list and many wines available by the glass. Consider yourself very lucky if you are able to snag a seat at the actual Oyster bar itself.
To start off- I could not decide what drink to get, it was taking me well over 10 minutes to really gather what their tasting notes were, as I was reading over and contemplating, the host came over and asked if I needed any help, thank god he did. He helped explain the flavor of the drinks (ie how strong the absinthe licorice flavor would be) and help me figure out which one to try from there. Both drinks I had ended up being delicious and not at all too absinthe forward. I came here with my friend that is a pescatarian and gluten free and there were options for all of us to share still and enjoy. The scallop crudo was phenomenal. I didn't expect much even when my friend said it was good until we had one order, and had to get a second. Oysters were delicious and the staff helped us figure out which ones to get based off tasting notes and size we usually prefer. Overall service here was amazing and I love the decor and food. Definitely nice for a special occasion or treat yourself meal.
Do not bring a date here. Well, actually do bring a date here. Because even if it goes poorly at least it will go poorly next to a cold martini, moody lights, and a sexy bar. An absolute gem of a bar. There is a reason everybody answers maison premiere when talking martinis and oysters. They just do it better. Attention to detail is there. Temperature there. Vibes? There. It's moody, but fast. Dim, but lively. It is everything you want in a cocktail bar, and then some! Workers are awesome. Knowledgable, friendly, and beautiful curators of a lovely martini!
Date: Friday, May 9th, 2025 Time: 10:30pm Party of: 4 Reservation made: via Resy a few weeks prior What: After Dinner Drinks *Pernod 68° ($15) *The Great Bambino ($19) *Jade Edouard ($19) *Kubler ($16) My group was having dinner in Brooklyn and decided to check out Maison Premiere before heading back to our Manhattan hotels. I originally had a rezzie for 10pm, but we were running late. Luckily they were able to fit us in even tho we lagged about 30 mins. I honestly know nothing about absinthe, so I just picked something random. I think I ordered the Jade Edouard ($19). I mean, it was fine. One of friend said typically they make it in front of you with the drip, sugar, etc. I didn't even know what that meant when he said it. Had to ask for further explanation. Would have been fun to see it, but it was late and dark. Not sure how much we would've seen at the table? The space itself is very pretty. We actually went to the back patio to take some pix while waiting for our drinks. Lots of greenery. The whole space is very reminiscent of what I would imagine was an house in New Orleans back in the day. Fun place for a last drink. I wouldn't mind coming for an oyster happy hour of sorts. Cute, elegant cocktail bar (I think they also serve oysters but I didn't have them) Stopped in around 4pm on a Sunday and was able to snag a seat for one at the bar. Around 4:30, it suddenly got crowded and every seat was taken. They specialize in absinthe cocktails but I actually tried their Old King Cole martini that is shaken in front of you. It was one of the best martinis I ever had. It's different because they use orange bitters and this cool gin from the UK called Old Raj. It is pricey at $28. My bartender was awesome (didn't get his name though!) The sound level was average in the bar, and the I enjoyed the lowkey decor and dim lighting.
Came here because I follow the guys from TopJaw, and I was not disappointed! The vibes are immaculate! It felt like I walked into old world, New Orleans with some of the strongest martinis I've ever had. Our waiter was super attentive to us, and suggested delicious champagne, a great hibiscus margarita, and the blind lemon Jefferson fizz. I def will come back
Maison Premiere isn't just another oyster bar flexing aesthetics and overpriced cocktails. This place gets it. I came in with one mission, high-brine oysters, and the waiter didn't just take the request seriously, he turned it into a curated experience. I asked for the briniest on the list and instead of rattling off names, he just asked how many I wanted and disappeared. Came back with Orient Point, Edgewater, and Pemaquid; Three absolute masterpieces. Salty, fresh, clean. It was like licking the Atlantic in the best way possible. On the side: warm olives that made me question every sad bar olive I've ever eaten, steak tartare that was rich but balanced, and two drinks, The Shining Path and a Piña Colada. The bartenders looked like they were drowning in orders and still turned out flawless drinks. Vibes? Immaculate. Crowd? Chill but not dead. Ambiance? Romantic enough for a date, casual enough for solo oyster slurping. Zero complaints. I left buzzed, satisfied, and already planning a return. This spot delivers on every level.
Wow! Loved Maison Premiere, from the vibes to the food to the service. Everything was perfect. The menu is pretty extensive, including their wine, oyster and cocktail list. Our waiter, Antonio was so great. He really made the experience because he was so knowledgeable and gave us the best recommendations based on our preferences. My bf got the tableside sazerac service and that was quite cool to see. I don't normally like mezcal but I did enjoy my mezcal cocktail that Antonio recommended, which was pretty fruity/floral forward as I had asked. Onto the food - I was overwhelmed by the oyster choices so we just decided to trust Antonio. My favorite was the Hood Canal! The scallop was amazing and honestly the bread that came with the steak tartare was probably the best bread I've ever had. Do not skip the pasta and the short rib was a solid choice as well. I don't love visiting restaurants more than once due to the abundance of restaurants in NYC but I'll surely make my way back here.
From Absinth to several rewarding plates, which were shared, the kitchen and raw bar exceeded our expectation. Our meals were prepared and presented with precision. Lamb saddle cooked to perfection with an amazing jus...Halibut paired with a Clam Chowder esque chunky broth. 2 winners*****
Stopped in for a post dinner drink and this place was absolutely incredible! The vibes were immaculate and you really feel like you have been transported back in time while you are there. I haven't tried absinthe much and our server was really helpful and walked us through the menu to help us decide what to get. Didn't try any of the food so I can't speak to that but the drinks were delicious!
the biggest selection of oysters ive seen so far in new york. lots of fresh and tasty oysters, familiar and new. vibes inside were very nice and warm, love the decor and the uniforms (feels like id been transported to a different time). dirty rice was a yummy bite as well, lots of good sharing items here. one thing that was interesting was while sitting at the bar they were making our drinks and dropped a glass and spilled glass and ice all over us haha. luckily didnt hurt us but i thought theyd comp the drink or something. would go back though, such a cute spot.
I went with my friend who lives nearby to this place. As he called it. This place has European vibes. It's an old school inspired decor. Reminded me of the le labo distressed look. Anyway we sat outside in the middle of high summer in Brooklyn vibe. The service was slow but it all worked. The cocktails looked amazing. We ordered oysters, mackerel crudo, mussels, crab toast. My friend had the steak tartar. It was all superb. My favorite dish was the crab toast. So light and had a tingle of jalapeños. It's a must! The mussels were great but I found the clams that were in the mussels to be the best part. Can't wait to go back.
Come for the mind-blowing cocktails and ridiculously fresh oysters, stay for the dim/moody/romantic inside interior and professional service. The garden space from pictures looks like the place to be in the Summer! How charming. The unassuming exterior was fun as we weren't sure if we were in the right place at first, and they undeniably have one of the most interesting cocktail menus, along w/ the many Absinthe-infused or drip varieties. I love their style. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgable and helpful with selections, and kept the meal going smoothly. All drinks were amazing: Royal Caroline, The Fleurdelisier, and few others. Warm olives were heavenly, bread was crusty and salty w/ seaweed butter on the side (wildly good.) Yellowtail crudo was citrusy, herby, quite fresh and each piece was a perfect bite. Made this our first stop when we came back to NYC for a few days. We would come back time and time again for the oysters, cocktails, and THE VIBE! read more

Such a cute and elevated bar in Williamsburg. While things are on the more expensive side, every thing from the drinks to the oysters were quality. My group of three sat at the bar, and though there was a walkway directly next to us, we never had issues with eating space. I'll shoutout the service, because our bartender was seriously the best. He gave us great recommendations and was super attentive of us. If you're looking to try any cocktail, get an absinthe cocktail. Our bartender recommended the Inverness and it was such a good drink. It begins tart/fruity but then turns to a yummy cream taste. Oysters were super high quality and they have a pretty big selection of east and west coast oysters. Get the Chefs selection if you want to try a variety. read more

Fantastic ambiance, service, cocktails and oysters. The only annoying thing was getting a reservation. I was trying to get a reservation for 3 people on a Monday night and Resy just never showed any availability. Nothing is hard to get on a Monday night in New York City so I decided to show up and of course, they had plenty of open tables. I mean, why not just show those on the app so that it's worth the hike? Anywho, we were seated at a nice little table in their outdoor garden, which is lovely. I was an absinthe virgin so on our waiters recommendation, I ordered the Walcott Express and Casablanca. Perfect little intros to a liquor I ever had! We got two orders of the chefs selection oysters. Get the Damariscotta oysters. It was the best of the lot we had. Overall, a Monday night well spent. I'll be back for the oysters and probably to try other cocktails on their expansive menu. read more

I have been to Maison Premiere a number of times, both before their closing and after. I most recently went on Sunday with a group of 5 people. The restaurant is small, so definitely make a reservation. There is a large bar in the center of the room in the front, a small number of tables in the back, and a garden / backyard area. It is decorated nicely, in the spirit of an old school New Orleans style bar / restaurant. Service is generally good, although be aware that food and drinks come out on the slower side (but not too slow). Oyster happy hour is a great deal here, but they're currently not offering it. They have a number of oyster options available, and have a great selection of West Coast oysters. The drinks here are great, with tableside sazeracs, tableside martinis, and a number of other drinks. This is definitely a place to try a couple of cocktails. The food menu is a bit more limited, but there are a lot of great (primarily seafood) options. I have had some of the crudo options, which have all been good. At my most recent visit, I had the scallop crudo - 4.5/5, bread and seaweed butter (from She Wolf - 4/5), and cod andrade (tasty but very rich - 4/5). I also recently had the caviar service, which was pretty standard -- my one complaint about it would be the toast that comes with the caviar, which is strangely long and thin and did not hold the caviar or other accoutrements well at all (see picture). I honestly wouldn't order the caviar service again because of the toasts. I like Maison Premiere a lot, and will return in the future. I do wish they would change their toast to make the caviar easier to eat. read more

My Aunt wanted to take us to her favorite local place and this was it! We had SO much fun sitting at the bar having cocktails and small bites. The bartender was not only funny and friendly but extremely knowledgeable. Love the 20's vibe from ambiance to staff outfits (suspenders & fishnets). Needless to say they make an incredible classic cocktail (from French 75s to Tom Collins) but I would recommend adventuring through their specialty menu cocktails. I go for gin, so I had the Peacock Throne and it was divine (must love orgeat - common in Mai Tais). We also had the cod small plate which I quickly finished off - it was so creamy and delicious! Their bread comes with seaweed butter so if that's not your thing, ask for regular butter. Probably best to make a reservation if you want a table on a weekend night but the bar is such a great spot too. Would love to come back in the summer to experience their back garden patio area! read more

The ambience in this place is perfect! You feel like you're transported to about the 1940/50s. Attention to detail went into every design detail. I love the lobster roll here, it's served warm on a buttery roll. Also the cocktails are amazing since their hand crafted by professional mixologists. read more

Super great bar in Williamsburg! From the outside, you wouldn't think anything of it. But once you enter, it's beautifully-decorated with dim lighting. Make sure to make a reservation as it does get pretty busy. I ordered some of the red wine, which was good but was $15 a glass, which seemed steep. We ordered 18 oysters between the three of us, which was honestly a perfect amount. They were fresh and juicy and were served with a vinegar, hot sauce, and horseradish. We also ordered the beef tartare, which was on top of an olive tapenade that was super tasty and had a good amount of salt to balance the beef. It was served with 4 pieces of a seeded-wheat-type bread. To finish, we ordered the rum crème brulee. The top cracked nicely, but the custard had a pretty strong rum flavor. Overall, I loved the food and the experience. I will definitely be returning!! read more

Came here to celebrate our one year anniversary and it was such a great spot! The place was very intimate and staff were very friendly. They were accommodating when we asked to sit at the outdoor back area, which was really cute. We ordered a bunch of oysters and the lobster platter. Lots of food and was fulfilling! The sauces that came with it went so well with the seafood. We also got the beef cheek plate and that was soo soft and the flavors went really well together. We really enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend! read more
Maison Premiere has been on my radar for some time and I finally wanted to give them a shot. Upon entry, it's vey dark in there. I have a love hate relationship for dimly lit establishments. I enjoy it sometimes but others it can be a bit overwhelming. Nonetheless, the restaurant is gorgeous. Definitely has a an old time feel to it. Service is also a 10/10, we had several members come over to assist at several different times so that we're never on the hunt for our waiter. Drinks: The drinks we about a 7/10. I certainly expected a bit more from them but they got the job done. Food: I got the Scallop Crudo along with the Charbroiled Oysters and they were um, um good!! The crudo could've used just a tad bit more flavor to be as impactful but the oysters were stuffed to perfection. I would love to come back to try more drinks but I'd definitely recommend as it's not your typical NYC spot. read more
The hype is real. My friend and I visited on a Thursday night early July and were so pleased we planned ahead with reservations. There is usually a wait for walk-ins, and when you visit, you will fully get why. We ordered the chef's selection, splitting a dozen oysters between us. There are so many cocktail options - even one with Malort! There is a section for Absinthe cocktails, and I ordered the Casablanca which included St. George, yogurt, chai, and lime. It was pretty good. I would definitely like to go back and dfferent cocktails. We also shared the steak tartare. The pleasant surprise was how much we loved the bread served with it. I have limited knowledge when it comes to oysters and that didn't negatively impact my experience at all. I would definitely recommend coming here if you love oysters, delicious cocktails, have a friend who usually makes a puke face when they hear the word oyster, or just appreciate a beautifully designed space. Date night, catch-up session, work meetup, or just a fun night out, come here! read more

What a phenomenal experience. I made a reservation for my partner's birthday and boy did they go above and beyond! Both of us are hospitality professionals with fine dining experience and I can't tell you the last time I was so blown away with a restaurant's food, cocktail program, and service like this. Places that do hospitality like this are few and far between these days, from the nice little touches and complimentary things they did for my partner's birthday, down to the floor manager introducing himself to us upon being sat. Some of, if not the best oysters I've had in NYC, the food was just spectacular. Probably the best cocktail I've had since sitting at the EMP bar. Our server, Morgan, was a delight and attentive in the best way. The concept is brilliant and the atmosphere was perfect, making you feel immersed without being overbearing. We sat at the oyster bar, super cool to see them shucking right in front of us but still intimate enough to enjoy the company of the person I came with. Can't recommend Maison enough, 100% deserves their reputation. We'll be back! read more
Such a cute spot! This would definitely need to be a pre dinner sort of place. They have a bunch of raw bar items and a lot of drink options. Very cute for a little date. The garden in the back was adorable and the inside was decorated like an old timer bar and it was all so beautiful. Definitely a little pricey though. read more

Beautiful and cozy place in williamsburg. I am a lover of good author cocktails and I have never seen such a variety of drinks where I didn't Know half of the spirits hehehe I didn't like a drink (royal caroline) and the bartender was kind enough to offer me another (the drink was good but i hate vermouth) My friend other a drink with Absinthe and it was very smooth. Will recommend anyone that wants a very well made drink to go to this place read more

A must do! Superb service at Maison Premiere and a fantastic menu. I enjoyed the oysters, lobster and martinis. We sat in the corner and it was quite comfortable and private for our group of 3. I recommend and will definitely be back. 5 star! read more

Such a great cocktail and oyster bar in the area! I love the moody, romantic ambiance of the place, and the cocktails are not only beautiful to look at, but also absolutely delicious. The pina colada comes in a whole coconut with a giant sprig of mint on top- so fun and so yummy! They specialize in absinthe and have a wide array of choices and absinthe based cocktails. I had their oysters as well which were fresh and delicious. The bartenders, servers, and hostesses were all super friendly and knowledgeable. I absolutely love the aesthetic of this place, and will definitely be back in the future. read more
I wish I had taken more photos, as the interior of this place is striking. Beautiful 1920's style New Orleans Oyster Bar. The highlight here was trying the rare Belon oyster - a massive oyster (palm sized) that is mineral heavy, on a flat shell. Our server told us a brief history of the oyster as she is from the area of France that Belon oysters are harvested! (Although these Belon oysters here are from Maine I believe). They have a long list of oyster options from the east coast and west coast, and at the oyster bar you get to watch them be shucked for every order. It takes awhile for the oysters which is understandable - however it also took even longer for other food we had ordered. The lunch extended much longer than we had planned, but I'd still return! read more

Instantly felt transported to an early 20's French quarter cocktail bar in Louisiana. Everything about this restaurant from the decor to the servers and bartenders uniforms had set the aesthetics up just right. Do your self a favor and Make a reservation they do accept walk-ins but the wait can be a good two hours. They have an extensive drink menu I settled on the sherry cobbler it was beautifully plated and tasted amazing. we ordered two dozen chefs selection oysters ,clams , Bread with seaweed butter this is a must thank me later, and an an order of razor clams. The oysters were Delicious, I really appreciated the server taking time out to explain what oysters were plated. This was an awesome experience and will definitely revisit in the summer to check out the garden seating read more

Whenever I venture out to Brooklyn I always have to make a stop at Maison Premiere. The ambiance is beautifully romantic and makes you feel like you've walked into the past. The hosts and servers are always incredible and knowledge about everything on the extensive list if cocktails and absinthe. During the weekday you can probably manage getting a table or seats at the bar as a walk in earlier in the night, but expect a wait if you decide to go later in the evening or on the weekend. The cocktails are all amazing and unique. I haven't had a cocktail that I didn't. My all time favorite is the lambeth walk fizz which is deliciously creamy but be warned the fizz takes quite awhile to make. I usually order a two cocktails so by the time I finish the first, the lambeth is in its way. The oyster and crudo selection are my favorite things on the menu. I usually fill up on the oysters and seafood tower so I haven't had any of their hot menu. All the crudo is amazing and worth getting. The caviar service is also great when you're looking to indulge. Overall, definitely a go-to spot of mine and it never disappoints. read more

Dear Yelpers! If you love a good old fashioned oyster bar then come teleport to the early 20's feel of Maison Premiere! The ambience was amazing! The cocktails were gorgeous, delicious and carefully crafted. They have an amazing absinthe cocktail selection, including an absinthe crème brûlée! Oysters and presentation were on point and the staff extremely friendly. Please do make reservations in advanced! Also note the space is really intimate and small so try not to wear a huge coat or anything obnoxious as space is very limited and tight! K and I sat on the side booth next to each other with the perfect view of the bartenders crafting their amazing cocktails! We came strictly for the oysters and craft cocktails so it was a sweet spot to enjoy a dimly lit conversation with a friend or love. 10 out of 10 would recommend! read more

Went for Friday evening drinks with my friend. We were lucky to get a table immediately (timing is everything!). Had champagne and oysters and shrimp cocktail. Super chill spot with 1920s vibe. Not at all pretentious though, feels like a speakeasy with a raw bar. Service was very slow for some reason but our server checked in and updated us so I wasn't too upset about it. Will return and hopefully be able to sit in the outdoor garden next time. read more

What an amazing experience we had here! If you love cocktails and want to learn more about absinthe, this place is perfect. The waiters were so attentive and nice. They explained in such detail the items in the menu, gave us their recommendations based on what we liked. I've only had a hint of absinthe when I make sazerac but this was the first time I tried cocktails made with absinthe as a whole ingredient. Absinthe is really potent so this was a great place to explore it more as they know what they are doing. Also got oysters to go with the drinks. If you don't like absinthe, they also have a full menu for non absinthe cocktails as well. The interior and vibe was overall beautiful as well. Definitely will come back. read more
