BE FORWARNED. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. I should have paid more heed to some of the horror stories I read in the Yelp reviews.
My family and I used Maison Moving on Feb 26 to move us from Irvine to Menifee. They showed up on time, but that is the only positive thing I can say about the entire process. They were anything but professional in the handling of our furnishings and broke three items.
Firstly, while off-loading, they ripped (and I do mean RIPPED) the top off of one of my end tables. Just grabbed the unit, which was apparently wedged in with other items inside the truck, and yanked until the top came completely off...screws and all!
Second, I have a baker's rack which had custom-cut glass shelves on it. I warned them, as they grabbed for the glass, to be very careful because it was glass. So the guy (the same guy, by the way, who broke my table) grabs my glass and proceeds to dump it on the concrete floor breaking every single piece.
All the while these things were happening the crew kept telling me not to worry, to just file a claim and it will be taken care of.
So now we come to number three...my loveseat couch recliner. They brought my loveseat recliner upstairs, having removed the back for easier handling, and when they (again the SAME guy!) put it back together they crammed it down with such force as to ruin the connector in the back. Now, one side of my two-seat couch is not secure and therefore unusable. When you recline, it goes back way beyond any intended measure of use because it's not attached.
I have been in communication with these people (Daniel Berrie) following the submission of my claims (one for the custom-cut glass shelves and one for the loveseat recliner) and the whole thing about filing a claim...is a joke! First of all, I'm 71 and they wanted me to turn the couch over and take pictures of the damage. Previously, they'd told me they'd be sending an assessor out to determine the extent of damage, so imagine my surprise when they wanted ME to wrestle that couch and do their job for them?
Where my custom-cut glass was concerned...they never offed any replacements or compensation even though they claimed to be trying to get estimates. Here's what he said: "I am waiting for the XXXXX XX in Murrieta to get back to me with a quote. Will keep you posted". At one point Daniel even said he was having difficulty locating someone in Menifee to give him estimates on replacement glass, but if I wanted to find someone... Again, asking me to do HIS work for him. His company broke this stuff...not me!
Ultimately, after stringing me along for two months, this is what Maision Movers said: "After all factors considered , we will not be able to repair your sofa or offer replacement glass for your bakers rack." Factors? What factors?
Finally...what Maison Movers DID do was offer me a miniscule amount of money (not nearly enough to fix my couch or replace my glass) PROVIDED I sign a document saying that I would not post any "negative reviews, posts or references on social media" regarding their company and/or performance.
Clearly, I think my review speaks to my answer!! read more
