Came to this bakery to grab lunch as we had seen it while walking en route to the Louvre from our hotel and the window display was inviting.
For €6,90 you get a drink, sandwich and dessert. Unfortunately by the time we arrived it was close to 2:30pm and most of the sandwiches had already been sold so the selection wasn't great. We ended up getting 2 chicken sandwiches and a quiche Lorraine. For dessert we ordered the lemon meringue tart, a chocolate eclair and a flan.
The sandwich baguette was not overly hard to chew as the baguette from Paul's. The sandwich contained arugula, a scant few slices of tomato and chicken breast. Unlike most North American sandwich shops that serve up white meat sandwiches that are dry, the chicken here was not. Having said that it was not very well-seasons and lacked any distinct flavor.
My quiche was divine. The tart shell was nice and buttery and the quiche was savory.
I think that the desserts were what made this place Yelp-worthy! The lemon meringue tart was sooooo amazing! The lemon curd was fresh, the meringue was light and airy with the right amount of brulee on top. This was my favourite by far.
The chocolate eclair actually had chocolate filling in it. The choux pastry was good and the chocolate mousse filling was to die for.
The flan was just okay but the one at Brioche Doree is still the best one I've had so far.
I also ordered 4 chouquettes as I had first experienced these amazing delights at Maison du Macaron in Montreal (refer to my review). But I must say MdM wins! Another thing that Canadians do better!!! read more
