    Outside near L'as du Fallafel
    Carolen M.

The Short: I wish the pastry we got was mind blowing but it wasn't, but what I truly appreciated was the service and the staff there. The Slightly Longer: As we just finished our falafel from L'As du Falafel, we saw this pastry shop right outside. We looked through the window drooling of course cause who else would drool after a full meal. We walked inside and I was taking photos. The staff there was talking to me in French and I'm like "?." My boyfriend, bless him, he had to translate for me, and he said, that the guy was mentioning the shelves are much more full in the mornings! I had to laugh as i know he was just kidding around and joking with the Asian taking food photos. We got a few things, but the pastries were memorable for their looks and that's why we got them since they were interesting looking. It was wrapped in a phylo dough. Just dry and not sweet or savory...just there. Still I would be curious to see what other pastries they have and it's super convenient for a little pick me up after heavy falafels!

Jewish bakery that can get really busy on the weekends - they are open on Saturdays. Prices are reasonable.

I was there during my last visit to Paris and I think I still dream about the pastrami sandwich I got there...

Another great boulangerie. This place is slightly larger than the one down the street with a…read moreslightly wider selection. It gets a cheaper rating but I thought the prices were very comparable to the other boulangeries in the neighborhood.Again they had great croissants (I tried them at every boulangerie we visited) and their large macaron "sandwiches" were also delicious (although not my MOST favorite of the ones we tried in Paris). This place was also just a few steps from our apartment so we visited it a lot as well. None of the women that served us during the week spoke English but again, you don't need much in a boulangerie. The service was always friendly and efficient. Often this place was busy but service was quick. No outdoor seating, and they were open until 8pm which was awesome. Later in the day you'll find that pastries and bread are not as fresh but even though we got macaron "sandwiches" at 7pm and they seemed a little damp from the fresh fruit in them, the taste was delicious. The outer shells of the macarons were slightly tough but the overall texture wasn't bad. the berries (we tried frambriose and fraise, or raspberry and strawberry) were incredibly fresh and tasty. I'm sure if we had purchased them earlier in the day they would have been even better. We also had the coffee eclairs and they were amazing!!! I don't care that much for eclairs as I do no like the type of bread used for them, but these were good enough that I'd get them again. The filling was rich and the coffee taste was outstanding.
