So I owned a dog named Pletzl once. He didn't bear a whole lot of resemblance to the fluffy onion bread that makes up Florence Kahn's breads, to be perfectly honest. My mom, friend, and I shared a turkey pletzl as well as some chicken pierogies and spinach and vegetable burekas. The pletzl sandwich was great - soft bread, good meat, and all sorts of tasty condiments. All the pastries were good too. I have been to this place three times, because I liked the pastry. I will never return. The woman who works there, maybe she is owner, maybe she is the manager, she is the cashier... is easily the single rudest person in all of Paris. She hates if someone cannot speak French, even if they are a paying customer. She has an incredible nastiness to her that at first I found funny. Now I realize, she is just a nasty person. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. It is absolutely pathetic. If she is not the owner, she should be fired. COMPLETELY not worth your time. The Short: I wish the pastry we got was mind blowing but it wasn't, but what I truly appreciated was the service and the staff there. The Slightly Longer: As we just finished our falafel from L'As du Falafel, we saw this pastry shop right outside. We looked through the window drooling of course cause who else would drool after a full meal. We walked inside and I was taking photos. The staff there was talking to me in French and I'm like "?." My boyfriend, bless him, he had to translate for me, and he said, that the guy was mentioning the shelves are much more full in the mornings! I had to laugh as i know he was just kidding around and joking with the Asian taking food photos. We got a few things, but the pastries were memorable for their looks and that's why we got them since they were interesting looking. It was wrapped in a phylo dough. Just dry and not sweet or savory...just there. Still I would be curious to see what other pastries they have and it's super convenient for a little pick me up after heavy falafels! read more

I was finished giving 5 star reviews....and then I came here. The food here is gooooood!!! The quality is superb! Try the potatoe latke, it's amazing! It's a deli counter/order at the counter style place, but there is some seating outside. They have a pletzle sandwich that is excellent and big enough for two people to share, and they'll cut it into four pieces to make it easier. And their breads are made fresh. read more

Also known as Florence Kahn bakery.... don't know why it shows up on Yelp as Kapota Florence. Everything looked beautiful. I wanted to get the linzar tart and resisted. Looked too good and I would have to eat 3 pieces.... Saw the apple streusel---german style in layers... omg... resisted. But when I saw that piece of moist, square of cheesecake... that was it.... couldn't resist. I bought it and ate it while I moaned. Just the right amount of sugar and the perfect moist texture. You should visit and buy everything I resisted. In addition, they have pastrami and turkey sandwiches, soups, etc. Prices a bit high but not so high that you should deprive yourself. As far as Ashkenazi Jewish food this is really one of the best delis I've been too in both Europe and North America. After eating here, I'm really picky about other delis of this cuisine. I usually get the latkes, challah, eggplant salad, eggplant caviar, and a host of other excellent caviars or "shmears". They've a wide range of knish (dumplings) as cured meat sandwiches. And yes, you can find gefilte fish and matza ball soup. Ashkenazi Jewish food is something of an acquired taste and it's a bit helpful to understand the history of the people in order to understand how preserving food was a way of self-preservation. For those commenting on the portions not being as big as in the USA -- please hear yourselves. Methinks your USA portions are too big too often and in this case, less is most certainly more and they're ample to boot. read more

There is too much sugar in the poppy-seed pastries, though the food looks good and it was the only Jewish bakery open this Saturday. But WATCH OUT for pastries sold by weight. The elder woman at the counter was agressive like often people in Paris shops are. Even when you speak French as your native tongue. And she could not resist to cheat me by overpricing a piece of pie. Unfortunately, I realized it only later. This is my last time there.
