Excellent quality boba and customer service. Drink was a little on the sweet side for my personal taste, but the bobs more than made up for it. First time trying this place out. Read all the low rating reviews because they're true. The person took our orders wasn't friendly but that's fine. My bf ordered a slushy, he made sure to say slushy multiple times but his drink was still made with dairy. When we told one of the employee, she just took it and walked away without saying anything. We got another one without milk though. They told us the wifi only works on laptop(?) The slushy was pure syrup, no real fruits there, and way too sweet. My kumquat lime tea was just ok but with no hint of sweetness lol... Boba was also mushy. Bacon cheese fries: fries were ok, no seasoning on the fries itself. It may not be Jolly Rancher brand, but it is ARTIFICIAL FLAVORING, and NOT REAL FRUIT. ALSO: a SLUSHY-type beverage has NEVER been ice-cream based. SLUSHY beverages have ALWAYS been a NON-DAIRY affair. Check with ANY US company that sells such products; Sonic is a great start, and they are all over Texas. Slushy means non-dairy. Do not get the shredded chicken bahn mi!! You will be sick to your stomach and will get food poisoning! The chicken is not good, not fresh, not cooked properly, and not edible. Expired chicken gave me and my brother horrible food poisoning and he has been throwing up and using the restroom nonstop! I'm never coming back here. Just decided to finally try this Teahouse because it's really close to where I stay and I've been very loyal to the same Teahouse for like 7 years. Any who, first let me say. The decor in this place is sooooo gorgeous and artistic. As well as the bright colors and game options. I tried the chicken potstickers, spicy fried calamari, and the matcha green tea smoothie. My total was $14 and some change which is very cheap. Everything came out hot and tasted good, but I would say the portion size are smaller in comparison to other tea houses I been to. This is def one of my fave boba places in Houston. The service is good, there a games inside, and they play really good songs! The food is not my fave; I've tried the egg roles. I don't know why this place has such high ratings... Their drinks are overly sweet. Every single drink, was pure sugar. Milk tea, cafe sua, mango smoothie, avocado etc. Their food is mediocre, i had the kim chi fries and popcorn chicken and was not impressed. I can drive 5 minutes towards bellaire and get much better drinks and snacks. I wish this place tasted better but I can't stomach the food here. However, service is super!! Last week, I stopped by at Mai's Teahouse and the lady was giving me a hard time. I have been to Mai's Teahouse since the place was open and there's this one girl (Owner's daughter) always gives me what I want when I ordered any kind of sandwich. I always ordered any sandwich and asked her to add extra pate and mayonnaise. She would do it for me. So last week, the owner said that they can't add pate. I said "yes she can... cause I always get it that way" she argue back at me and then she told me that her daughter did it wrong. So I decided to walk out of the store and never come back. I usually always order the Mai's Fries and they're made so good. Today I called in for a pick up order for two Mai's Fries with no kimchi. I came in to pick it up and asked for two extra sauces on the side. The cashier charged me extra sauce for $1.00 and then extra kimchi $1.00? I don't really see how that made sense. I came home and opened up the sauce containers to see that the sauce wasn't even halfway filled, not even 1/3 of the container actually. I got charged an extra $2.00 for this? My little loves Boba and me personally not a fan so this is always a special treat just for her when she needs rewarding. I have been here twice so far once by myself and the other time with my little. The service is outstanding and the place is really cute and modern on the inside with TV and Comp WIFI. I ordered the Fruit Tea both times, and both times it is stacked with Fruit of all sorts and boba through out. They have different options of Boba that you can get based on size and one that pops in your mouth. They gave my daughter a variety of texture and she was in heaven. Where do I start, the staff was exceptional, they were kind and had plenty of recommendations with it being our first time here. I got the Oreo cookie smoothie and the Taro coconut smoothie. They were on point, and believe me, I've been up and down Bellaire (China town) and I know a bad drink when I taste one. I've had drinks that were far too sweet, or with nothing but ice and completely flavorless, but Not those guys at Mai's Teahouse, they know how to make a good drink with the right consistency. The Bahn Mi was delicious, I had the BBQ pork sandwich with all the fixings. The sandwich was flavorful and I could tell it was made with fresh ingredients, that stuff really goes a long way, and it's little things like that, that will keep us coming back as repeat customers. Lastly we ordered a portion of there Mai's fries. It's there rendition of Kim Chi fries, but don't get it confused because these fries are like no other. The portion of these fries are so large, you're gonna be glad you had someone with you to share an order. These fries were so good, and I'm definitely making this a must when I come here in the future, oh and don't forget to add a fried egg on top. As a group of friends who LOVE teahouses and their food, the first words that came to mind were "At last! A teahouse that serves the Richmond surrounding area!" During our first visit, we arrived at closing time and they were preparing for their big opening the following day. Our first impressions were what a contemporary décor, friendly staff, and so conveniently located. Despite they were closing, the friendly staff still took our orders. Orders and Review Hazel nut coffee with coffee jelly - Unfortunately, the location ran out of tapioca and I was suggested to try other jellies they had. One jelly suggested was the coffee jelly, which complemented the drink very well. Grass Jelly Milk Tea- - Being a big fan of grass jelly milk tea, this drink was not what we were expecting. There was no jelly, the flavor was not appealing, and the drink just seemed very different from what other teahouses serve. Thai Tea- The Thai Tea lacked flavor. Peach Smoothie The smoothie was descent but has room for improvement. Since it was near closing, we decided to give it another try the following day to really try other flavors. Unfortunately, it did not turn as expected. We ordered 4 different drinks and an order of popcorn chicken. Banana Papaya Smoothie w/tapioca - The tapioca was good but the drink had a strong after taste that did not make it so appealing. Durian Smoothie w/tapioca - The Durian drink was on point with a natural taste and yummy tapioca. Grass Jelly Green Tea w/tapioca - At first, we received the wrong order and we had to ask for the correct drink. After the second drink was served, the drink was still incorrect. The drink was not grass jelly green tea but instead black milk tea. The drink was not great and had an unpleasant taste that had to be discarded. Avocado Smoothie - The avocado smoothie with tapioca was rich and delicious. Popcorn chicken - In comparison to other teahouses' popcorn chicken, the popcorn chicken here was bland and very dry. The popcorn chicken looked more like chicken strips/ chicken nuggets. Overall, it is a new establishment that is still working out kinks and adjusting recipes. As of now, we have tried 8 different drinks and a food item from their menu. Very cute and urban environment, came here to study for a bit after the storms. The staff seems to discriminate and give pushback when I gave them honest opinions on the quality/freshness of their "banana chips". I thought it was something with my taste buds at first but I washed it down and tried to eat them again...They smelled like the containers have been sitting in storage for MONTHS and she refused to offer me an exchange! (I was willing to pay an up-charge and current employee dismissed me without even checking the product) Very upsetting when I asked "when did the product shipment come in -- I got no direct answer just "I don't know". Saw the good reviews and it's close to my girlfriend's area so we decided to try it out. I ordered a Thai tea; it was very good! My girlfriend also enjoyed her regular Milk Tea. The balance of the the tea to condensed milk was good! And what I liked is that amount of ice was perfect, and it was not too sweet or too unsweet. The space inside is very inviting. There's a large opening when you walk in, lots of tables set up on the sides.There are also a plethora of board/card games so this is a perfect place to hang out! It feels family run, which is a plus. The staff was very nice, they were helpful and quick. The variety of drinks should suit any boba enthusiast's needs, and they also have banh mi there if you want to grub. Overall, loved our experience, and we'll be back very soon! read more
