Main Line Optical is fabulous...the bottom line is that you get what you pay for. Yes, they are more expensive that the "express" places you find in the mall. BUT, you get personal, really friendly service and a much higher quality product. Most importantly, they stand behind their products (probably more than they should!). My six year old son snapped his glasses in half this summer while we were on vacation and we were forced to get an emergency pair and at the local one hour place. I kept the broken glasses in my car and finally got around to stopping in to see if they could be salvaged. It had been well over a year since we purchased them. The original frame was no longer available and both the manufacturer and Rich insisted that we pick out a different frame and they gave us a full credit towards a new pair. I actually argued with them as this seemed unfair to them as a business. They've won my business for good! Did I mention that the new pair was ready in about 48 hours (with transitions type lenses)?? I should also mention that the quality difference between the one hour pair and the pair we picked up today at Main Line Optical was really obvious - the one hour pair was almost twice as thick. After years of bouncing around with eye experts, surgeons, opthamologists, and other doctors, with no success at easing severe eye fatigue, Dr. Roger Tsai took the time to assess my problems, ensure that he would solve them, and referred me to MainlIne Optical. Luckily for me, Richard Boehm took Dr. Tsai's recommendations as a personal cause. Rich and his establishment can only be rated 10 out of 10 (actually 15 out of 10 would be appropriate!). Called at 10 AM on Saturday morning to make an appointment for a minor repair of my mother-in-law's glasses (she is staying with us during the winter portion of the pandemic). "Come right over now" was Rich's response. We arrived a few minutes after 10, Rich replaced the nose pads, and since the shop was quiet, I asked if he could tighten a pair of my glasses. And of course he did so, expertly and in short order. We were all finished and on our way by 10:30 AM! Main Line Optical is extraordinary in that it has something old fashioned about it: superb customer service, the kind that is hard to find today. They try to fix any problem you give them, and they do it happily. Good selection with personalized service if you want it, or you can be left alone to obsess about your choices if you want that! Last week I had a scratch on one of the lenses and didn't think anything could be done about it. I mentioned it in passing while looking at other frames. Excellent customer service, above and beyond. I recently dropped off a prescription for new lenses. Something was wrong with the new lenses. After a few moments, it was determined that the prescription from the optometrist incorrectly removed the correction for my astigmatism. The staff reinstalled the old lenses and adjusted my existing frames so that they were they sitting properly on my nose. BINGO! I could see clearly. I decided to keep the old lenses. I asked how much I owed for the lenses -- I knew they were expensive. I was told "No charge." I asked who was going to pay for the lenses and was told "Customer Service -- you came in to get new lenses and will be leaving without them -- no charge." read more

I have been going to Rich at Main Line Optical for more than 10 years. During that time I have purchased at least ten pairs of glasses (counting those I have purchased for my kids) and I have been extremely satisfied. I know that I have gotten high quality at a fair price, plus the service has been impeccable. I believe that two of the ten pairs of glasses weren't quite right the first time. Mainline Optical was a lifesaver! When I found out my 3 yr. old needed glasses, I felt overwhelmed and emotional. I had the very lucky encounter of meeting Rich today. I was on another errand but needed a nose grip that had recently fallen out of my glasses. He treated my request as if I was one of his longest standing customers. A true and caring gentleman. Many speak about a tradition of excellence and customer satisfaction, but this was as genuine as it gets. My eye doctor at Lankenau Hospital recommended him when I first moved to the area over 25 years ago. The best optical shop around! My son is 11 and we have been having his prescriptions filled here since he was in preschool. They are so helpful and have repaired and replaced many pairs for us. I've also had them replace lenses in some of my own sunglasses (Chanel and Tory Burch -not prescription) that I scratched and they were able to add darker polarized lenses which I much prefer.
