Took car in for a vehicle inspection and was in and out very quickly. Could've seemed friendlier though.

I wish I could give you more than five stars…read more.... I went to a local shop, Eastland Motors, this week to get an inspection sticker. The mechanic told me that my car didn't pass, due to brake issues. He offered to access the brakes and fix any problems. They put a rejection sticker on my windshield. Since this effort could potentially be an expensive effort and I didn't know the place, I was reluctant. But the owner assured me that they would do a good job. So I made an appointment for the next day. Still has reservations about them doing the work. My neighbor suggested reading any Yelp reviews before moving forward. I did this and was shocked at all the bad reviews. Told them in person the next day that I couldn't do business with them, due to the bad reviews, and drove away before the mechanic could respond. Made an appointment with Direct Tire in Watertown, who I had been going to for about 30 years. They are great! Susan, the representative, looked up my car in Carfax, She found that my brake and rotors had been replaced in early June of last year by Parkway Toyota. I bought the car from them a few weeks later. They gave me a loaner car, too. Thank you, Susan and Godfrey, and thank you, Direct Tire and Parkway Toyota for being so honest!! This is why I have gone to Direct Tire for so long.

I came across a Facebook listing for a set of four pre-owned Bridgestone Alenza tires. I usually…read morebuy my tires from Town Fair Tire, but I contacted Leon and negotiated a price that was a little below the asking price. The next day, I had the tires installed. They were exactly as described in the listing and in great condition. The price for all four tires was less than I would have paid for a single new tire of the same brand and model, making it an excellent value. The installation was completed in under an hour, and the tires were balanced properly. The installation cost was comparable to what other shops charge. There was no noticeable tire wobble or steering wheel vibration while driving. The shop is small but well-equipped for tire installation. I didn't notice an alignment machine, so if your vehicle needs an alignment, you may need to have that done elsewhere. One thing to keep in mind is that Leon Tires accepts payment by cash or Venmo only--they do not accept credit cards. Just be sure to plan accordingly before you arrive. Overall, I saved a significant amount of money and had a great experience. The next time I need tires, Leon Tires will definitely be my first stop.

Deceptive pricing, undisclosed fees, and escalating terms…read more Prospective buyers should be aware of the shifting terms, unadvertised fees, and direct contradictions I encountered at Leon Tire. Over the course of three separate phone conversations coordinating inventory, the merchant quoted me $400 for a set of Michelin tires with 8/32" to 9/32" tread depth, with installation offered as an optional add-on. He explicitly agreed to hold the uninstalled tires for pickup. When I arrived at the shop, the transaction unfolded through a series of escalating obstacles while standing in the open garage bay of the warehouse: Undisclosed 10% Surcharge: The merchant stated cash-and-carry purchases were subject to an unadvertised 10% handling fee posted on a door sign. I noted that this fee was omitted from all three phone calls, but I reluctantly agreed to pay it. Warranty Disclaimer: The merchant then stated that taking the tires uninstalled meant zero warranty and no returns. I accepted that condition as well. 10-Second Delay & $150 Markup: He stepped aside in the garage bay for approximately ten seconds, returned, and hiked the price to $550. He claimed the $400 tires were only 7/32" and had already been sold, and that this available set was 8/32" to 9/32"--directly contradicting his explicit phone quote for that exact tread depth. Refusal of Sale & Cash Mandate: He then claimed he does not do cash-and-carry at all, stating he only makes money on installation and is not in the tire-selling business. He also demanded physical cash only, another material restriction never disclosed in advance. Standing right there in the garage, we argued back and forth. I confronted him directly on his dishonesty and recounted our three phone calls in detail. I pointed out that he had provided a standalone price before even asking about installation, had completely concealed the 10% cash-and-carry fee, and was now claiming they "don't do cash-and-carry" despite his own posted door sign and our explicit prior agreement. I refused to pay the markup, spent zero dollars, and walked out. In my opinion, drawing customers to a warehouse with an agreed price only to assess unadvertised fees, strip terms, hike the price on the spot, and refuse the agreed retail sale represents an unfair and deceptive trade practice. A formal complaint detailing this exact sequence has been submitted to the Massachusetts Attorney General's Consumer Advocacy and Response Division
