I'm terrible with tires. Since getting my car, I've damaged my tires in every way imaginable due to my driving. So naturally, I had to get my tires replaced very frequently. Until these guys! Last time around, I got my tires replaced at them and I went with low to mid price tires as usual, taking their recommendation. It's been years, and my tires still haven't given me a problem despite all the ups and downs of the beautiful roads of Massachusetts. If you need new tires, this is the place to go. read more

If you are reading this, you probably had a white knuckled experience driving around town yesterday. Were your tires spinning on Forest & Summer? Did you do an involuntary donut or u turn driving up Park Ave? Well look no further. Congratulations on finding Bruce's Tire on Yelp because you will undoubtedly be in good hands with Bruce and his assistants. I've gone here 4 times in the last 13 years. The last time was a month ago when I brought my husband's car after the last snow storm. I was extremely happy when Bruce picked up the phone when I called for an appointment. That meant he was still there. Bruce Greene is 76 years old. The first time I met him, he told me he was thinking of retirement. Thirteen years later, he still thinks about retirement, but lucky for us, he's still here. The sight of his smiling face, the twinkle in his eyes, and his gentle voice still endears me. He's originally from Arlington, but he's been driving 100 miles a day in order to give us the most honest and reliable auto service. The day he finally does retire, I will be sad indeed, but I will be genuinely happy for him. Normally he asks you to drop your car off for a couple of hours. If you don't feel like leaving his shop because it's freezing outside, then you can hang out in the waiting area. It's small, but it's nice and warm, and free wifi. If you feel like venturing out, walk up to Mass Ave and have a nice lunch of baby back ribs at Blue Ribbon BBQ. It's only a 5 minute walk. So check your tires and make sure they are not balding. Had a slow tire leak. Brought the car to Bruce's. He didn't try to sell me new tires, just fixed the leak, which turned out to be a nail. All friendly and capable staff. My father went here for years, for repairs and tires. It is nice to have a dependable, honest auto shop in town. No need to go to big box tire stores by the highway. Finding a right mechanic is overwhelming due to lot of reasons , overpaying, sub par parts , trust etc...people who reviewed Bruce are not a marketing team, it's coming directly unfiltered from heart. I found this car repair shop to be trustworthy, honest and professional. They were simply easy to work with. I needed to have a new set a tires. The local dealership quoted me about $1000. Bruce's Tire & repair got everything done for less than $750. All four tires replaced including installation. Dan and the office staff were polite, courteous, professional and easy to work with. Looking for great service and tires at a reasonable price? Look no further than Bruce's Tire and Service Co. I just had four new snow tires installed today. Price isn't everything to me but in this instance it sure made a difference. Bruce came in $280 below what the dealer wanted to charge me and $150 below what tirerack.com would have charged me. The added bonus here was the great service. Bruce and his crew took the time to explain why the all season tires I had on the car shouldn't be put back on in the Spring. Whenever I bring my car in, Bruce shows me exactly what's up - "See this nail here? Guys at the gas station might patch it for you, but the way your tire flexes when you turn, right at this exact spot, it wouldn't be safe. You should get a new tire." He explains it like I'm suspicious, but I'm not. If Bruce told me I needed solid gold tires, I'd just suck it up and get them. (Do I need solid gold tires? I probably do.) If you're lucky enough to get one of the spots where Bruce stores your snow tires for you, consider your life officially a success. read more

Almost 3 years later, another flat tire on the way to work (I blame the cold + potholes). This time we DID get the flat off and the spare on (yeah that was us on the side of the road in Arlington center), but we promptly drove over to Bruce's just a mile down the road anyway. His assistant took in the tire, determined that it's not salvageable, and quickly put a new tire on. All the while Bruce is entertaining us with stories of when he was in the air force and lecturing us on proper tire inflation (40 psi in the winter, 35 in the summer) and rotation (every 6k miles). All in all, the flat only cost us an hour, that includes putting on the spare and having Bruce's awesome crew put in a new tire and enjoying his company. :) read more

If you actually get Bruce, you're in good hands. Lifelong Arlingtonians know and trust Bruce, and my initial experiences with his shop were great. Fast, honest fixes. But I've since had a simple rotor-and-pads brake job done by his other staff where the new pads were never quite installed firmly and it took two follow-up visits to get it fixed. They were sweet, fast, and accommodating about the fixes, but I can't give it 5 stars anymore. read more

Every year about this time, it begins. The annual parade: I have to switch my summer tires out for my snows, dragging my tires out of the basement, getting them in the trunk. Ugh. I used to go to an "Arlington" "Tire" place, where they would always seem to charge me waay too much to house my summer tires and balance my snows. Seriously. Enter Bruce! Did an excellent job, saved me at least $50 dollars, and he is a mensch! I heard him with other customers, one where he was letting him know his tire or rim was just scratched and it didn't need replacing. Isn't that nice to overhear? This gentleman is in his 46th year of business -- because he gives quality service and care. He even gave me a quick tour of the place. Super recommended. Bruce is my car's new BFF! We have taken our Toyota Rav4 here three times in the past couple of years and have always had such friendly, excellent customer service from either Bruce or his staff. I write this review in particular for a visit on 9.10.13: we had a loud squeaking noise happening every now and then and mostly when we turned so I called and asked them if I could stop by in the morning to have them diagnose it. We have a little toddler and so I am unable to just drop the car off in the morning and then pick it up in the evening for them to check out, but the man on the phone said it was no problem and to bring it by. Of course on the way there, the car decides to stop making the noise but I pulled into their shop anyway and got out to talk to one of the mechanics, Joe. I explained how it doesn't happen when the car is idling and that you'd really have to be driving the car or in it to hear the noise. He asked me for the keys and said, "I'll go take it for a spin -- please go inside and have a seat." I took our 21-month-old into the waiting area and we looked at magazines and listened to CNN for a couple of minutes before another mechanic walked by on his way out the door and changed the channel to a cartoon for her (which I know is irrelevant to the car service but thoughtful nonetheless). A couple of minutes later our daughter starts to get antsy and bored of the magazines (I mean, who can expect a toddler to enjoy Men's Journal, right?!) so she wanted to go walk outside. We walked out and low and behold, they have our car up in the garage and one of the wheels was already taken off. I admit that I did start to worry that it would take a while (and I had her snacks in a bag in the car of course) but 5 minutes later, Joe came out with the car and said he found a metal clip on the brake rotor that was causing the noise. And he did not charge us for the service. I was thankful that he was able to diagnose the problem AND took the liberty of getting it done in such a short time so that I wouldn't have to come back later. As a mom, it meant a lot to me that he took the time to stop whatever else he was working on to help me out. The people that work with Bruce (and I actually got to meet Bruce himself!!) are very caring and thoughtful, which is the main point of this review. :) Also to add - we had our car checked out by the Toyota dealership's mechanics once and they had a few things they highly suggested we get fixed that would've cost us a lot of money. We had Bruce's take a look and they were honest and said that most of the things were unnecessary. Could not recommend a more respectable, friendly, and honest place for auto repairs than Bruce's! read more

I needed 4 new tires, read the reviews for tires around where I was, and struck gold. Bruce is a good, honest guy. I'd never met him other than that day, and he's got a way about him that makes you feel like you've known him a while. He's honest and does good work. The waiting room is great - wifi/tv and plenty of space. I got a fair price for the 4 tires and he had it done within an hour. He mentioned they also do general mechanic work on whatever needs to be done. If I were you, I'd just stop looking and call them. read more

Bruce rocked. I walk into Bruce's shop early in the morning, trying to get to work, but needing to replace my tire after a blow out on 95 with a drugged-up cat who subsequently pissed on me. Needless to say, I was holding on by a thread. I had already been to two places that didn't have my tire. When I went into Bruce's office, he was friendly, helpful, very quick... and his price was more than $50 lower than the other shops! Bruce recommended that I get my other tires replaced, he was polite and respectful. When I declined to replace them that day, he didn't push me. I'll tell ya, when I do get those tires replaced -- Bruce is the man for the job. read more

I am strictly a food YELPer but in this case I have to make an exception. I have been an Arlingtonite for years and am proud to have Bruce as my tire guy. I have used Bruce's services many times and am wicked mental about BTASC. l have always had timely, friendly-as-hell, and all-around pissah service here. Bruce and his gang are highly competent and offer a pleasant vibe. Even when it's a busy time, these cats do their utmost to get me buggy back to me ASAP. I also like how they open at "sev" in the morning and they always call as soon as me buggy is ready for pick up. They put on my "snowies" each year and store the regular tires there for free. They have also fixed flats and various tire "boo-boos" as well. Hats off to Bruce and his minions. The only thing that could make Bruce's any better would be to offer free pizza. I will never grow "tired" of using Bruce's Tire and Service Company. I highly recommend 'em. Use 'em. Peep 'em out. read more

I had a slow leak in my tire that I put off dealing with for longer than I care to admit, fearing it was going to result in having to replace 2 tires (reflecting my lack of faith in auto places) and cost a heap of money. Then I saw Bruce's on Yelp with amazing reviews, and gave him a call. He was able to see my car that morning, they found a 1.5 inch nail in my tire, and Bruce explained they'd be able to repair it at a super reasonable cost. It's been 3 weeks and so far, so good. Bruce's is fabulous. They are great about showing you what the problem is and explaining the options. The waiting area is neat, and has a vintage 8-track player and 1970s TV (which are always off -- but interesting antiques). They work fast, and are reasonably priced. Everyone there seems to enjoy their work. Highly recommended! I've been there 3 times (each time for flats after hitting a curb). Also -- I was able to pick up wireless -- I wrote this review via my laptop while my tire was being changed. read more

I came here solely from reviews on yelp because I'm still sort of new to my area (Medford). I needed some tires for my car and I looked all over my area for a tire store. Most stores have 3 stars and under, and I do realize that some reviews show biased ideas or over expectancy for the services, but I understand the rating systems of yelp and decided to try a shop with the highest rating. Long story short, what you see from all of these other reviews is basically what you get. Bruce's is a very kind and honest man and definitely knows his stuff on cars. My immediate family has multiple mechanics but they all live in different states, so I have some sort of in depth understanding on the functionality of vehicular parts. All in all, Bruce's tire and service co. was a great experience and I'll be returning to him regularly for services read more

Just finished up service at Bruce's and he was very accommodating in letting me pick out the tires i wanted. I found Bruce through yelp and had called a few different chain tire places before settling on Bruce. The other places were slightly lower in price but not by much and I picked Bruce because of the reviews, locality and his demeanor. Boy was I glad to have choosen Bruce, I went down there this morning and he made me realized that in the world of constant bad news, there are truly alot of good people in this world and one of them is Bruce and lucky enough to have him in my community. Not only is Bruce a good person, he knows his tires, provides excellent service and most of all he committed to his trade which benefits the customer. I could of went to a chain and saved $30 bucks but would of missed out some great stories and excellent service. Bruce's tire won a customer for life. read more

Bruce is awesome! A very nice, friendly and honest guy. I had the giant nail in my tire removed, patched on the inside and rotated for 30 bucks. My nail joined the large collection of "things that have caused flat tires" jar sitting on the front desk. It was worth the time an money just to talk with him and learn a few things. This review is in response to Kim W of Arlington, who chose to write a scathing review on a tire shop. Let's get some facts straight here, OK Kim? Your encounter with Matt was at the Stop & Shop and not at Bruce's Tire Service. How do I know this? Because I was in the waiting room when Matt came back from HIS encounter with YOU (at the Stop & Shop). Apparently YOU think it's OK to take a cart full of groceries into the "12 item or less" line, because YOU are a very privileged person and far more important than anyone else. Apparently the clerk said something to you, as did Matt, who just happened to be wearing a Bruce's Tire T-shirt. So now YOU are going to write a bad review on a tire shop that had absolutely nothing to do with the situation. I have been a Bruce's Tire client for decades and I'm more than happy to know that YOU will not be sharing any waiting room space with me in the future. The reason YOU are not going to get into details is very clear. YOUR rant has nothing to do with tires and everything to do with YOUR horrifically warped, vicious and inappropriate attack on innocent people. YOU claim Matt was rude, mean, humiliating and abusive. A-HEM... let's turn the table around to YOU, who just wrote a LYING, RUDE, MEAN, HUMILIATING and ABUSIVE report. And, oh by the way... ALL of your posts are horrid and negative. I've been to Bruce's several times, after one fo my friends highly recommended the place. I went in last time because I had a persistent problem with my tires going flat because my Volvo wheels were a slightly rusty. My previous tire guy kept sanding of the rust and allowing the problem to reoccur in a year or so. Anyway, I arrived ready to shell out $500 or so to buy new wheels, but Bruce would hear none of it. He charged me $50 to sand off the rust and to put a sticky substance called "bead sealer" on the two rusty wheels, which should fix the problem. (I will update this review if it doesn't fix the problem, it is Dec 2007 now.) Another great thing about this place is that they don't kick you out of the shop while they work. Bruce was having me watch everything and explaining it all and was very friendly. I didn't have to ask him if I could watch or to explain everything, it appeared to be his normal procedure. He was very friendly. One definite plus is that he lubricated the tires a little bit before putting them on the wheels. In the past I've had year-old tires get ruined because some idiot tire guy didn't want to get dirty and put the tires on unlubricated, ripping the inner-most part of the tire and ruining it. (Of course the other guy didn't let me watch, unlike Bruce.) I didn't have to wait in the waiting room, but I noticed that it's set up with a nice little table so that you could do a little work there if you had to wait. There was a TV as well, but it was turned off. (In my opinion all TVs should be off.) Another convenience is that they're half-a-block from the minuteman bike trail, for convenient access by bike or rollerblade if you leave your car for service. (That trail runs all the way from Davis Square to Bedford. Around alewife and near the Cambridge-Arlington border you have to go on the sidewalk a little bit, but otherwise it is a converted railroad line without cars to worry about.) read more

Very happy with my experience here. I got both snow tires and replacement tires from them, and Bruce helped steer me to the right set of tires for both my preference and my wallet. And the key thing for me is that they will store whichever set of tires you aren't using at no charge - very important b/c my apartment in Boston had no storage to speak of. Bruce also noticed that my muffler was loose and told me to get it checked/replaced, which saved me from having to deal with a rotted muffler falling off unexpectedly! read more

Went there based solely on Yelp reviews and my impression is favorable. Bruce seems like a straight shooter and is friendly. They fixed something for me without having to replace it, which saved a lot of money it seems. All I can say is that Bruce's team was courtesy, honest with me and did some quick work! Luckily I didn't have a flat and they were able to patch up where the nail was lodged in my tire. This is my second review of Bruce's place and I am just as happy as the first time. On my way home I hit the curb and my tire went pffft! Called Bruce who asked if I come in right away, which I did. There was almost no air left in the tire so I pretty much drove on the rim, but it wasn't far. Sadly, the tire had more or less exploded and I needed a new one, and a quite unusual one at that. Bruce did not have it in stock but made a call and arranged to have it available early the following morning. In the meantime, he and his associate mounted the donut on my car and I was off. The following morning I got the tire as well as a thorough assessment of my other tires. All in all as smooth as one can expect when it comes to the dreaded flat tires. Bruce is reliable, knowledgeable, friendly and straight forward. It's the first place I call! read more

Bruce's Tire is fantastic, and Bruce is a joy to work with. Went in to swap my snow tires out for my summer tires. He noticed, as I suspected, that I needed new tires. After giving me a tour of the place and showing me some recommended tires I decided on a set that needed to be ordered. They arrived the next business day, I dropped my car off and Bruce drove me home. Hes VERY reasonably priced, TBH I'm not sure how he operates at such a low margin, very friendly, honest and a joy to work with. Also he will store your summer/snow tires for free in the hope that you will come back to him. With service like this and mounting & balancing at ~$11/tire you would be silly not to. read more
