We typically love Main Event and have visited several over several states. This one in Webster was probably the worse one I have ever visited. It's a great atmosphere for fun but the service in the food section was enough to make us leave. For starters they had quite a few customers lined up and it seemed like only two employees out of six that I counted were actually working. I may be wrong as I don't know their exact job duties so maybe they were being paid to watch two of their fellow coworkers work. Now for specifics. We came in as a family of four. We ordered the family pizza special. One pizza, four drinks and an order of loaded cheese fries with the ranch on the side instead of on the fries. They gave us our cups and we went to the drink station. The drink station was out of ice. I heard another customer advise one of the workers that there was no ice. She said "Ok. I'll have them bring some out." No need for me to mention as the other patron alerted them. We waited by the drink station for about 15 minutes. The only reason we stood by it so long because there were no tables available. They were not occupied but EVERY last table that was open was dirty. Plates, cups and food everywhere. No one open table was clean. I am not a difficult person so I didn't put much thought into it. The person that clean the table was busy. No biggie. After about 15-20 minutes, the drink station had accumulated a small line as everyone was waiting for ice. I caught the next employee and said "Hey, the drink station is out of ice." They responded "Ok". No one ever came with ice even though several employees was standing there watching us at the drink station. I finally got tired of standing there and went to clean off a table for us to sit. I pushed all the dirty dishes to one end of the table and cleaned the table with water and napkins. About 10 minutes later, my buzzer alerted me our food was ready. I approached the counter and when the guy placed the food on the counter, I asked him since they were out of ice, could we get Icee's instead. He said no because they're more. I said ok.. so we should just drink the warm drinks out the soda station? He said no, we have ice here at the counter. He takes my four cups, sit them on the counter, and turned around back to the food window. I stood there a few minutes and realized that he was purposely ignoring me. I caught another employee and told her those four cups were mine and I was trying to get some ice. She filled the cups and I returned to the table I cleaned. We sit down and realized they didn't give us plates. I went back to the counter and asked for four plates. They gave me four plates. I walk back to the table and started passing o out the plates. The top plate seemed ok but the other three plates had some brown sticky stuff on them, like syrup or something, and bits of old food stuck to them. I walk back to the counter and asked for more plates. I get more plates and walked back to the table only to realize that they didn't give us the ranch on the side. I walk back to the counter, showed the receipt to the employee and they gave us the ranch.. and again, there were two employees working really hard and four others literally just standing there looking. I'm a patient person and rarely complain but this was ridiculous.. the pizza wasn't that good but the fries were pretty good. If we had not already paid for the food, we would have left right then. We ate and then left. We left without enjoying the activities because the food experience knocked us out the mood. We went to the boardwalk instead. Very disappointed in Main Event. We are from out of town and wanted to have a night of fun so we purchased the wristbands. After an hour of bowling our lane shut down and we were told that we had to wait in a wait list to play again which was not disclosed when we paid $106 for 4 wristbands to not have a "time limit". When we spoke to a manager he was dismissive and rude. There was not a sign of any "rules" in how long you can bowl for. Very dissatisfied and will not come again. read more

Be a good listener. Your ears will never get you in trouble A long way to go if you live in Houston but it was ideal for a meet with my mates from Galveston. I can only speak about the Laser Tag and Bowling and bar as we never tried anything else. We arrived around 9 and the place was really busy. The wait for a lane was around an hour and all the arcade games were in use with people queuing so we headed to to the Laser Tag. Way it works here is you get a card and have to put money on it to then pay for whatever you want to use/play. Understand why they do it but it caused a slight kerfuffle amongst our group of ten as nobody knew how much anything cost at that point so we decided to estimate and just get the one card and all put twenty dollars on to get started. That did it. We were offski. Registered for the Laser Tag and were told there was a 15 minute wait so we headed to the bar to fuel up. 10 adults full of beer running around with Laser guns in the dark seemed like a good idea at the time! When our time arrive we trooped through the door into the reception to join about twenty or so complete strangers also out to try Laser Tag. We were all sternly told to remove any chewing gum and get our gear on. Although I heard that part clearly, the rest of the 'Introduction' by the 'boy in charge' was delivered so rapidly that it was unintelligible. I could see from the looks on everyone elses face that they had not heard a word either. Luckily the talk was followed by a video which helped. All present were split into a RED and BLUE team in a random fashion and ushered through the doors RED team first followed by the BLUE team after a short interval. Shhssss.. do not tell anyone else but my top tip is, if you are in the BLUE team then just follow in the last man from the RED team and join them at the their base. Cos most of the people are strangers then no one would be able to tell which team you are with initially so you can go with the opposite team and stay at the back. When the game starts you are right next to their base and can let rip. Instant damage!! Laser tag is a madhouse of people running round and getting hot in the dark, most fun i have had with all my clothes on in a long time. We did the bowling afterwards and quaffed a few more beers for good measure but the downer was, you can't take your drink to the lane. That's pants. Not a bad spot this but bit of a trek. By the time we left to go get sorted it was well after midnight but there were still plenty of people knocking about. Do not know if I would go again. Can you say, "overstimulated"? You just said it in your mind, so say it out loud! Bells, whistles, super bright lights, screaming kids and people. Did I forget the help? Yeah....they suck. After waiting an hour for the bartender (who totally mf'ed me) to bring a burger, I simply gave up. For the first time in my life, I walked out of a place without a complaint or peep to a manager. I listened to the bartender say five different times that she wasn't supposed to be there. I guess she wasn't BSing . She seemed to want a confrontation, but no, I would not do it. I was there with kids, and was not about to give her a day off. I hope she's still working. Please never go here. Its the worst unprovoked experience I've ever had in bar. Please go somewhere else. My family likes coming here on Sunday evenings until close because of the bowling deal that they always have going on. The drinks, food, and atmosphere is wonderful but we noticed something very uncomfortable. Around 10:30pm or so, they turn off the air conditioner!!!! Talk about a bad hair day. It was crazy hot and humid from 10:30 till midnight and we were already on our 4th game of unlimited bowling. We asked someone why it was so hot and he told us that management turns off the AC early so that he can save some money. Dude, we are still bowling, eating, and drinking! Also we are paying customers in an uncomfortable eating establishment. I'm telling you it was like 110 degrees in there. So the next time we go to Main Event, we will request to bowl at the far left lane where there is an electrical plug on the wall and bring our fan from home and plug it in so that we can enjoy a semi-wonderful evening with our kids. read more

Another all you can have fun place like Grand Station (see my other reviews) and Dave & Busters. How does this place rank? Smack in the middle, maybe a little below that. They do have laser tag which is one of my favorite things to do, but the concept is quite different to what I'm familiar to. It's kind of a mixture between Team Deathmatch and Capture the flag. You can still shoot each other but you get twice the points for attacking the other team's base. In other words, you are running past actual people so you can shoot a little box in the sky for ten minutes. If that's what you're into then go right ahead! On the plus side, they did have an unlimited everything special which included bowling, pool, and laser tag for 16 bucks. The pool tables were plenty, but the bowling was full the entire time we were there. So basically I paid 16 bucks to lose a bunch of calories and come home with a certificate that says I rock because I doubled everyone's score in laser tag! (that makes me cool right?) anyway, thank goodness for p90x! I did hop on over to the bartender to get a long island, which was a grand mistake, but hey I'm still learning who not to trust for standard alcoholic drinks so . . . oops my bad! Bottom line: This place is a great hangout spot for the locals, but unless you make your own biodiesel I wouldn't drive an hour to go. read more

Today was our second time at Main Event. The first time we went we were in the area and had some time to kill so we gave it a go with our 7 year old boy. Today, by choice we drove the 30-45 minutes from inner loop splendor to Clear Lake. Our purpose, indoor mini-golf. It was cold and damp outside, and I seriously cannot stand sitting at home all day with kids trapped inside the house. I would have been on the news by noon for having strangled my little darlings. So, indoor mini-golf. Issue number one. You are charging me full price for a 2 year old? Come on...really? Issue number two. I came here to be warm and the AC was on in the mini-golf area. I complained that it was cold, but it never warmed up at all in there. I think they just laughed me off. We had an all around good time. The games such as skiball and air hockey kept us busy for about 2 hours on $20 total. The boys shared the play card. They won 396 tickets. That translates to 3 ring pops and a crappy little mini basketball hoop. Crappy prizes. Good family bonding. Oh, and my 7-year-old son legitimately beat me at air hockey 7 to 1. Enough cannot be said about a place that you can bring your kids to run around, leave their plates of food on the table, and no after effects to clean up! Luckily, I was invited to chaperon a field trip to this establishment that provided me with a very stress free day on the clock! First of all, Main Event opened early (around 9 am) for the students to enjoy the venue. Our sponsor or team lead had already paid for the event and the manager explained everything the kids received with the package, which was a wrist band that allowed for unlimited access to bowling, miniature golf, and lasar tag, a lunch ticket, and a preloaded $10 game card. The sponsor thought that the package she paid for included an unlimited game card, but that wouldn't allow them to make much money, would it? For 4 and a half hours we were there, most of the kids stayed busy and weren't bored--at least none of them came to the chaperones and stated as much. I was able to walk around without having to worry about kids wondering off or rain clouds about to pour over my head. This was definitely one of the best trips to chaperone for those factors alone, but there are some negatives...read more. Our school was the first school to arrive and it was very spic and span when we entered the venue. Right away, the kids were able to partake of the games--except lasar tag, which wasn't setup yet. Later on, there were some workers who blocked one side of the game area doing maintenance. I experienced one game malfunctioning without a sign indicating its out of order status, but I was told by several kids that this same instance had occurred with a few other machines and their money form the card was taken and not refunded. That's not very nice to kids! The lunch ticket for the students allowed for them to receive slices of pizza and a drink. I thought they would at least get a bag of chips, but they did get three slices of pizza (that was an upgraded fee however from the base price). Don't know if its is any good, but I'm guessing it wasn't based on the number of uneaten slices left on the tables. Such a waste. At least my meal was free and pretty decent, but I played it safe, getting a burger and fries like I did at my last visit since my first meal at the Main Event Sugar Land required a send back and ended me up with a burger and fries at that visit. Since this place loaded up their school visits that day with about 5 schools there were constantly long lines of kids waiting for their plate of pizza and a cup to get their drink. However, once the kid leaves their glass, or misplaces it, that's it! No more beverages. These are kids--might I suggest take out cups instead? Cleverly, some of them use their tickets to purchase reusable cups to put their drink in to go (I swear we didn't tell them to do this, these are just awesome critical thinkers)! But again, the long lines of kids waiting to eat, such a travesty--especially the aftermath--tables full of plates from trying to serve five schools by 1pm and not enough hands to pick up and clean up. Mind you, we would have gladly made our kids pick up after themselves and put plates in some area for them to be collectively picked up by the crew members, but there isn't an designated area like that at Main Event. Tragic. Have you caught on to the negatives yet? Let me state one more--the redeeming room needed the small point prizes refilled. There aren't many choices in the first place, but when you know there are going to be 5 schools coming to your establishment, the manager should have been prepared for such trafiic. It's not that this place is horrible, but there is room for improvement. This is my second visit to Main Event in two different locations. It's just okay in my book. I would definetly suggest this place for a field trip again in the future since it was low maintenance to prep for, but I think location was too money hungry and should have looked at numbers of students versus number of schools. read more

So sad this isn't the place it could be. We had our daughters birthday party here two years ago and it was very nice. However this was not our experience last night. Long lines, rude staff, cold lack luster food that I was over charged for. It finally came to a head when I received my bill and saw the waitress had put my order in wrong and over charged me for it. I finally asked for a manager after a series of mishaps the likes of which I have never experienced. I felt bad for the waitress but I work too hard for my money to let it slide. The only redeeming thing about our night was the manager who did attempt to make things right. That's why two stars instead of one. But I doubt we will ever be back. Located way out in Webster, I was invited to a friend's birthday who wanted to bowl there. When i got there, i was surprised to see that it was more than just a bowling alley. They had laser tag, arcade, restaurant, pool tables, and bar. The place is well kept but I could tell that the people working there weren't really enjoying it. Especially the one's at the bowling alley. Overall, I think this place would be good for families and college students. Not really for young adults (although i thoroughly enjoyed playing laser tag there), it's really a confuse place cause you can have people getting drunk next to 10 year old playing games. Also, it's just too far for serious folks to have fun, great for the local crowd but Houston has much more to offer on a Friday night. Probably won't go again. One last thing...when i got there, my friends already had ate dinner and i tasted the ribs, we're in Texas, and those ribs tasted precooked and reheated...nasty read more

I went here for the first time for a birthday celebration. At first glance I was excited to see how much we were going to have. We decided to dine before we play so we order burgers, chicken tenders, and buffalo wings. But honestly there isn't much in the menu. While waiting on the food to arrive we decided to play bowling. $29 a game for an hour. $3.50 per shoes. The floor was sticky and slippery. SO BE CAREFUL. After 45minutes the waitress tells me that they are out of chicken; say what? go out to the backyard and kill some and give me some chicken I'm starving. LOL. just kidding but really feed me. So I had to wait an hour and a half to get my chicken sandwich. Needless to say, I was so famished that I ate so fast that really don't know if it was good or not. Bottom line the food is not impressive and we had better. Therefore, not the best place to dine Play: we had a good time bowling, the music playing was alright. around midnight the place was pretty empty so not bad for a Saturday night. or lame depending how much you like crowded places. Laser tag: $7 per person; we had a blast. it is so much fun. We were the last people to play so we had the whole place to ourselves which it was quite fun. Both of my sons birthdays are two days apart, so I decided to do a joint party at Main Event with family and friends. Everyone on staff was very attentive. However, I ordered two separate party packages which was very pricey and included service fees and taxes on top of the package prices. Everything was exactly timed, and there were some bumps along the way, which cut into some of our time at our reservation table. Overall, we will visit again. read more

So because I was at the hotel next door, I was intrigued to check out Main Event. I'd seen it from the highway I don't know how many times whenever I was in town and finally got the opportunity. Games (a really cool 'make your own music video' game REALLY caught mine and my partner in crime's attention!), bowling, a bar, and what have you. There was a lot to do but it happened to be a slow day during the work week so there weren't too many patrons running around. We didn't plan on doing anything here except to see what this whole place was about but we did stick around for about an hour just to play in the arcade area. Plenty of parking too so in case you ever feel like holding a family reunion here, you'd probably get away with it. read more

Went to take my son and girlfriend to play putt putt here. While we had a good time and the price was fair,16.00 for all three of us, the course was hokey and in disrepair. It was about 80 degrees in the putt putt room, the fluorescent paint was graffitied up and faded. Even the arcade had several machines that were broken, the coolest ones too. I really doubt I'll go back to play there especially when nasa putt putt is right down the street. When we tried to order a slice of pizza I was told it would be 30 minutes. Ridiculous .. read more

Pricey and low quality. The bowling is just ridiculously priced to me. The games are priced a bit above normal but half of them are broken or don't give out points/tickets property, and when pointed out to the staff, they roll their eyes and give you a free game. When a machine just ate $2.50 of my money, one free game doesn't really cut it. With D&B opening up, I bet they lose a lot of business. read more

I recently took a fairly large group of international business men (and some women) to Main Event for a social one evening during a week long meeting. For $28/pp including tax we had a BBQ buffet including apple cobbler and iced tea, one and a half hours and bowling plus shoes, and a $10 fun card that we used half of for a game of laser tag. An excellent value in my book! A lot of the people were a bit hesitant about going to Main Event in the first place since they thought it was more of a place for children to hang out and they were even more worried about laser tag. I received all sorts of questions such as "what happens when I'm hit?", "do we get to wear helmets?", and "how will I know what to do?" Luckily, the manager assigned to our party answered all of these questions and more and was very helpful. The food wasn't fabulous by any means, but was better than I expected. Before dinner we stopped by the bar during happy hour for half priced drinks and free pool and I was pretty impressed that they have bowling pin shaped Bud Light bottles. I was both surprised and delighted to order a beer and receive a drinkable bowling pin. I'd say our social was a huge success. Lots of compliments from the partners on how nice and clean Main Event was and how much fun they had playing laser tag and bowling. I definitely recommend this place for some good ole family fun or a business event. It's nice to not take things so seriously for a night and just have some fun. read more

I'm a little bit sad; this place is going to run Track 21 (my laser-tag/reliving-childhood-hotspot of choice) out of business. Ever been to 300 Bowling Lanes? An upscale, high-tech bowling alley that serves drinks and has a more mature atmosphere? This place strives for something similar, except with more ambition and more children running around: laser tag, a gourmet (looking; I did not sample their food) restaurant, arcade games, and "gravity ropes" (will explain later) are all bundled into the experience. I came with the bf on a Monday night, when they have a $10 unlimited play deal for your main attractions but excluding the arcade games. I think this is the way to do it; not sure what the prices would be like on a weekend night but I can guess that the crowds would be pretty intense. The best part of my night there by far was the gravity ropes! Basically, you are attached to a harness similar to what you would use for rock climbing or parachuting, and then secured with a cord that hangs from a rack above you during the entire "obstacle course"-- not really, more of a "balance" course. The best analogy I can think of to describe the set up is what would happen if dry cleaning became animate and decided to walk a tightrope. It's cool! Really! I will say, however, that the laser tag at Track 21 is MUCH more fun. At least when we played on Monday, the default set-up seemed to be just two teams, without much option or opportunity for input from the players. I also didn't see any bases to take down, and the laser tag arena is so small that it's easy to just get stuck in one place. Not cool! P.S. their bathrooms are state of the art! LOVE. read more

We went in there for a few minutes after a visit to a near by park just to play some arcade games. When my 4 year old nephew went to cash out his tickets he said "can I get these" and the associates response was "no". My nephew got very upset because we had just spent 5 minutes figuring out which items he could and could not get. The girl noticed and started to apologize but at 4 years old he just doesn't get people being mean for their own pleasure. I will be calling the manager first thing tomorrow. I would have raised HELL if my nephew wasn't already so upset. This is absolutely unacceptable! I will never bring anyone back here!!!! read more

1) I ordered a cocktail from the bar next to the arcades and the sprite in it was flat. When I addressed it with the bartender, he simply said, "you know... That's what other people are saying." I just finished hosting an event with a group of about 70 people. Main Event was a really great venue and we were able to secure the room in a short time frame, around 2-3 months prior notice. The event room was large enough to hold 170 people at a time but even 100 was pretty full. Still, it was a very appropriate place for our event and did not appear to be too crowded. We chose the cheapest package which served hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, salsa, and drinks. It came out to be around $17 a person and it was totally worth every penny. No other place in the area could host us anyway and everyone here as very accommodating. For large group events, I highly recommend this place. In fact, we had an error in count of people as we didn't plan for many unexpected no-shows. So our total number of people dropped by 15% on the night of the event. I would have had to pay $100-200 out of pocket, but the manager that night was soooo kind and offered to lower the total cost to just within reach where I didn't have to pony up much more. It was well worth the hassle for that reason alone. I cannot speak for any other parts of this business, such as the games, pool, laser tag or bowling but it all looked very fun. I didn't see anyone who didn't appear to be enjoying himself. If there ever comes a time to book another large event, this will be one of the first places I look to. Okay, let me start by saying this place is fun, however, your wallet won't leave very happy. For two people to go bowl and play golf/laser tag, it cost us $46. Seriously? I enjoyed myself, so I don't totally regret it, but it's not something I'll do again anytime soon. Overall, the place itself is just okay. You make what you want of it! Let me start by stating that I am a very easy-going person. However, My experience yesterday left me very upset. Upon arriving, I told the greeter at the front door my full name and that I was there for a birthday party. He proceeded to tell me that my birthday party family had not arrived yet. I was the party family. We waited at the front for a time and we're finally greeted by our party host. She guided to lanes 4 & 5, which sit back to back. I asked if we could have the lanes that were beside each other because the kids would want to sit together. She said there was nothing she could do about that. Why would a person paying that much for a bday party not be able to sit together. After my husband bugging the front desk, we were finally able to get the lanes next to each other. The party host got shoe sizes for the kids, but got two different kids shoe sizes wrong. That left me running back and forth to the front to exchange. As far as I could tell my host was not helping other parties, so she should have been easily accessible. She had disappeared. She brought the food, but two platters needed to be sent back because they were missing items, like the sliders and fries. She didn't offer napkins or straws. So again, I was left running back and forth to get them. Then she brought the ice cream treats without spoons. So we sang happy birthday, but no one could eat because there were no utensils. When our time at the lanes was ending, the host started taking platters of food, without even offering a to-go box. I paid good money for that food for someone to just take it without permission. My child's game was cut short because the time ran out. The host could have just stated that we could move our belongings to a table in the cafe area, instead we just figured it out on our own. As a party host, her only job was to make things easier on the person swiping their credit card. She did not. I would not recommend a party here. In fact the other parents in my group noticed the same concerns I had. After this experience, they have changed their minds about having a party at Main Event. I would rather have just purchased everything separately and not have to deal with that particular party host again. read more

I am giving this 5 star rating based on our waitress last night. Sissy, she was perfection! I attended a birthday party for my niece, with 20 plus adults and teenage girls. Sissy was spot on all evening. She brought drinks, food, and handled everyone's needs, no matter where any of us were in the building. She was attentive without being obtrusive. She was pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. Thank you Sissy for helping make my nieces birthday extra special. read more

Terrible service ... I believe that this place was incredibly understaffed on my last visit. To keep this short and simple I basically had a low level of service. The server was basically overwhelmed with the amount of customers she had to take care of so I got zero attention and had to basically beg for my order. When we finally got out order there were no napkins or utensils so we had to go searching for our own. When I finally got to a bowling lane and requested for a server to come... No one ever showed up. I walked to the bar and of course it was closed... At this point I didn't even feel like going back to the main bar because I would have to see the same waitress that I was with earlier ... What a bad visit. I love a place that plays fun music ( even the hip from a few years back)! Whats not to love a situation where, can I bowl, enjoy really good food, and have an ace time with nieces and nephews... it's a trifecta! It is a great place to visit during Spring break with the kids! So i went here for my Bday party and well it was a good price for the all you can play but it was super crowded. Yes it says all you can play but they limit you to an hour on the bowling lanes and i dont know about the laser tag and golfing my kids did that. I played pool most of the night. My freind ordered me a Margarita but it was more like lemonade it was weak and not tasteful. I much rather go to Chuckie Cheese and play because it has good food and beer. If you want to go to an overprice Chuckie Cheese be my guest and go to Main Event. read more
