Admittedly, I'm a wet blanket. A killjoy. Downright drag. But I liked this place. Main Event is not only more spacious than its competition, it offers more non-arcade game options, such as bowling, lunar golf and laser tag. (It has a nifty billiards setup as well.) Of course, there are also plenty of arcade games, although not as many as you might find at your average D&B or Chuck E Cheese's. The food here is blah, as was the table service during our Tuesday night visit. I don't expect gourmet fare at a fun house, and that's a good thing because everything pretty much came from a package or the freezer, and was promptly microwaved and plated before being brought to us by our less-than-attentive server. The alcohol situation is decent, albeit slightly pricey for the much-marketed frozen fruity froufrou stuff. It's a good thing I'm mostly a beer guy. And it's a really good thing that there are plenty of comfortable tables away from all of the action here because, as I mentioned, I just don't care too much for having fun. read more

I honestly do not understand WHY people come here. The only reason we cross the threshold of this entrance to Satan's house is because one of the girls has been invited to a birthday party. Everything about this place is just bad. So, I've been plant-based/vegan for a year and a half. I'm able to find something to eat at most places. I mean, I've found food to eat at a steakhouse! That's something. So with that mentality I came to this party at Main Event knowing that at best I could get a salad. Well, the hubby agreed to share a pizza with me, and I'm always up for a veggie pizza sans the cheese. Sigh. The girl at the counter, Crystal, was just plain rude. I can't say this enough. She. Was. Rude. When I said no cheese she looked at me like I was crazy (I'm used to this) and then just wrote me off. She didn't ask if I'd like drinks. She didn't offer a smile. She was pretty darn miserable and unpleasant. So costumer service is not important at Main Event. Anyway, back to the pizza. Y'all, this was legit the worst pizza I've had as a vegan in a year and a half. It was just a sad, sad state of affairs. There was almost no sauce in the middle of the pizza, and so few veggies it was almost funny. It didn't look good. It didn't taste good. And with 2 drinks this miserable plate of calories was a mere $30!!!! The last time I came here I was eating meat, and even then I was served raw shrimp. If you want to come here and bowl or play games or just see what the mouth of hell looks like, by all means enter at your own peril. But don't eat the food. Save yourself the misery. read more

Hate to complain since we've been long time weekly customers here but things at this location have gone so far downhill. Came in on Sunday, the only beverages they had available were, water, tea, and lemonade! (And they didn't have those the entire time either!) Some food options were also unavailable! You still can't use the karaoke room for karaoke! (I'm told because they still don't have the proper permitting) We did have some positive staff interactions but those members seemed extremely spread thin and we spoke to other members who were very unfriendly and unhelpful. We paid for the all you can play spring break bands but even after 4 hours there, we ended up not getting to bowl at all because the wait time was always so long even with open lanes. So in all we paid for unlimited laser tag and mini golf, very disappointing. You know it's bad when even your kids don't want to go back. We plan to try to go to the Bay Area raceway next time. My daughter went up there with friends tonight. She had a $50 gift card. The kids at the front kept swiping and then told her it didn't work. She then went to pay for food and was told there was no money on the card. After looking up the charges, they charged the card $36.30, $12.00, $1.70 and $1.70...I called up there 5 times and no one answered the freaking phone. I told her to have a supervisor call me back and I still sit here with no call and no resolution. She had to have a friend pay for her while $50 was charged to her card. This is the second time that we've been back and it will be the last. The service is extremely lacking. You prepay for pool tables, and can't get any assistance for bar service or food. The bartenders are extremely rude (can't even provide water to accompany the drinks ordered because they don't have the glasses) and the line is long. Playing pool for even and hour is extremely limited if you want to drink or eat as well, as your time is spent standing in line. The food service/bar service is poor while bowling as well. Don't even think about extending your time, it won't happen. The orders are completely skewed, if you can even get anyone to serve you. Tables are dirty and three parties prior to you's dishes are left behind with no clean up. The bathroom was atrocious, overflowing waste receptacles. Save your money. When visiting main event with my two nephews and fiancé. A older gentleman decided he was privileged enough to be disrespectful to the staff and myself. He went out of his way to try and smash talk the bartender. When he walked up near me, he started messing with my nephews drinks. I responded by stating that the seat was taken but he felt like he had the right to move everything out of the way. He went on stating that the bartender wasn't doing her job that he has been waiting ages for his beer. He went on by making a big childish show. Just hearing him speak, I don't know how he couldn't have seen the other people around him waiting patiently for their orders as well. As I shake my head in disbelief and disgust. He decides to focus on myself and stand nearly a foot away from me and threatens me to shake my again. At that time he starts to boil over with anger and continues to threaten me some more. At this time a manger jump in between me and the guy, managing to bump my shoulder in order to come in between the guy. The manager goes on and stated that he had to leave the restaurant now. Few more minutes goes on the manager did not keep their word, the guy was still allowed to stay and drink some more, but this time he had his own personal server. As much as how nice the bartender was. No one should act out like that over a drink or threatens other guest . I'm giving a one star rating due to safety guidelines. If you see a guest disrespecting your staff and surrounding guest a manager should keep their word if they tell someone that they are no longer allowed on premises and must leave. Disclaimer: This review is based mostly on a private event held here that closed to the public. With that being said, we have been to this location as a paying customer on a busy night and had a great time as well. Now back to the event. My wife's employer rented out the whole venue as part of an employee appreciation event. The venue was booked between 6pm and 12am. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by their very friendly staff who signed us in and gave us our card to play unlimited video games and gave us a map of their set up. They pointed us to the appetizers and to the different bar locations. We had free reign over the entire place. This included bowling, videos games, mini golf, laser tag, karaoke, and dance floor with a DJ. I was like a kid in a candy store! As far as the catered food, I was impressed by the quality of food we ate. It wasn't your typical bar food like I thought it would be. The passed appetizers were crab cakes and chicken satay which were both good. The main course was set up into two buffet stations. We started off with a caprese salad, arugula salad and grilled vegetables which was all super fresh. The main entrees was a carving station with pork loin and beef tenderloin, with sides of au gratin potatoes, portabella ravioli, spinach ricotta ravioli, green beans cornbread. All the food was on point and delicious. It didn't taste like your typical, cheap buffet food. The au gratin potatoes and cornbread were the fan favorites though. After dinner, we bowled and they set up a dessert bar and had tea and water stations everywhere as well as the bar and soda fountains. The desserts were different desert bars and cookies, but the standout dessert was donut holes with caramel and raspberry sauces. Amazing! I saw people with plates piled high with those and I can see why! I highly recommend this place for your corporate or team building events. We have been here a few times to try the bowling, pool, and food out. To say this place is lacking is an understatement. Everyone that works here looks like they just lost their dog and have no home to go back to. Ordering food, drinks, and getting reservations for alleys and pool tables is considered an inconvenience for the staff. They all look put out and angry when these situations are placed in their lap, the audacity that they actually have to do their job, right??? A few friends and I went to bowl and have fun. When we went to the dining room to eat, we saw multiple signs saying "please see the host to be seated." We stood there waiting for a table for about 15 minutes. Then, when a waiter finally noticed us, he passive aggressively said "if you want to eat sit at a booth." We proceed to wait another 15 more minutes for service then finally got up and left. There were also no clean tables and the floor was sticky. Our waitress we had to hunt down every time we wanted something. Last call is 50 min before close and bar closes 5 min later. They do not let customers know this when entering 1.5 hours before close. I just want to preface this by saying I'm not blaming my server. He had a whole section by himself. It took 30 minutes to get my drink order taken then another 15 before I even got the drinks. When the drinks were delivered I said we were ready to order and he said he'd be back to get my order. 20 minutes later he came back to get my order. We ordered several appetizers and they took 40 minutes to coMe out. Our chips and queso NEVER came out and I eventually went and told him to cancel the chips and queso because we were done. I know the help here is young but it's no excuse for the sloppy lack of customer service! We arrived to bowl and quickly hit "B" on the console for service. After 15 minutes, we had to ask someone and she replied that she would "find someone". That never happened. I ended up going up to the bar to order, but one bartender was serving tons of people and it was another long line! Finally, she showed up took the order and we got the food 20 mins later. We came here with a group of 9 after dinner to show the nieces and nephews a good time before they left town. We only had about 1.5 hours so we decided on bowling. For a weeknight, they charged us a "peak hour" rate, even though it was a Wednesday and the place was sort of DEAD. It was unlimited bowling for an hour for $29 per lane. We took up two lanes with 7 people (parents didn't bowl) bowling and were only able to play one game! So much for "unlimited". We all bowled pretty quickly too, no standing around talking. I'd imagine you can get 2-3 games in per lane per hour if you just have 2 people in a lane. There were no waitresses to come around and ask our group if we wanted any drinks or a bite to eat, so I found the snack bar near the far north end of the place. Although I did see a waitress from the nearby bar come to offer service to another group. Their shoe rental pricing is a gimmick because although we had 4 adults and 3 kids, they charge adult pricing for kids shoes over a size 4. Well.....the problem is most kids with a shoe size smaller than a 4 are probably too young to even bowl in the first place. So we were charged for 6 adults and 1 kid. I can not say enough about the place itself--or the staff!!! As a family of 6, we got stranded because of a cancelled flight. We were looking how to kill time for 7 hours, and landed on Main Event. Our biggest problem was our seven suitcases we had. All of the staff was super helpful, but Josh came right to our aid! He figured out a remote place we could keep our bags stashed so we wouldn't need to lug them around with us. He also helped us figure out the best and most affordable way to spend our many hours of fun. My kids (7-15) are having the time of their lives with so many places to spend their time. This place is spotless clean, has tons of great stuff to do, and has an incredibly nice staff. I am SO happy to have come...and would give it ten stars! I went here for the first time and was hoping for the best but got the crappiest experience. Eek! The photos that are posted with the venue on Yelp are FAR from what you will experience here. The bowling shoes looked like dogs ripped them to shreds and they smelled like a maniac. Note: only played pool The area was crowded and is very family friendly, but as you can imagine many kids were running around. The staff was really busy and the layout isn't exactly intuitive to a non-regular. Staff also isn't the most helpful as they just guide you around in circles (this included a staff member that wasn't the busiest like all the others that were running around like a chicken with their head cut off). Parking shouldn't give you too much grief as this is has a rather large parking lot, just be wary of kids and lack of stop signs within it. read more

Thanks to my Yelp friend, Justin T., and the responses from a Main Event rep to Yelp reviews, we decided to come in and give this place a shot on a Friday night. We are celebrating my husband getting a new, better job! From reading other reviews and looking around to see it was already pretty crowded, we decided to get the New Food & Fun Combo for $32.95, which means you can order 1 of 8 meals and get a $30 FUNcard so we can try all the video games. That way we won't have to wait in line to bowl or play pool. We'll try those things on a less busy night. Izzy is our server and so far, so good. He took our order by memory so if it comes to us with no mistakes, I'm going to be uber impressed as there are a lot of distractions here. More later, our drinks just arrived - all correct! Here is the more....So, our little family of 4 had a great time. Our server was good and our orders came out good, other than no blue cheese on the Cobb salad, which our server fixed right away. And they don't carry malted vinegar, which is kind of strange for a place that serves bar food. We enjoyed our meals and drinks. And had fun playing the video and other games (all worked, no issues). I like that all the ticket info is kept electronically on the cards and that you can easily check the balance in the store. Because I believe Main Event management is trying to improve, I was paying close attention to staffing issues. A huge one that I noticed is the lack of effective supervision and/or inefficient staffing assignments. The were 2 young ladies at the pool equipment check out desk who were visiting the entire time we sat in our booth for dinner, I'd say a good 45 minutes, and I only noticed one person - one - go to them to return a pool cue. After our server couldn't find more than 2 sets of napkin wrapped silverware for us after he delivered our food (um, yeah, 4 meals so short 2 sets), I found it really annoying that these gals weren't asked to help wrap silverware so customers could actually eat their food. So I asked Izzy what their job was and he explained. I then noticed he went over and talked to a guy, who then took the 2 gals into the storage room out of view. When they came out, 1 stayed at the desk while the other went to talk to a gal who was dressed more professionally at the bar but who had a name tag so I assumed she was a supervisor. A little while later that gal came to take a small load of used dishes away from the table across from us that had been dirty the entire time we were there......and then went right back to the desk and visited some more. That is someone who just doesn't care about providing good customer service, doesn't see her part in the team trying to provide a good service experience and will only do good work if a supervisor is constantly directing her. I'm sure there is high turnover in this industry but I did notice a stand out employee! Alyssa was running Winners Choice all by herself (this is where the 2nd pool clerk should have been assigned, IMO, even if it was just coming through every half hour to restock, clean up the mess, take out the trash). Alyssa was calm, efficient, moving as quickly as possible and really knew the inventory, pricing and how to get the job of checking people out done quickly. I waited in a huge line so had plenty of time to observe what was going on. It seems like some staff just run back and forth with no clear purpose and, even though they'd look in the shop and see the line, mess and chaos, they just looked the other way and kept walking). No one came to help Alyssa the entire time we were in the shop, mostly spent waiting in line, probably 20 minutes or so. A gal in the same uniform came in at one point but seemed to be helping only those that were in a private party group because she opened the 2nd register and everyone in that group was served and then she logged off the register and left. Kudos to Alyssa for trying but boo to whoever oversees this area. Alyssa is likely to move on to greener pastures if she isn't provided proper support soon. We'll come back again as, for the most part, we had a good and fun experience. read more

Broken, broken, broken! The teenage (poorly trained) attendants cared less. Only 2 stalls out of probably 6 were in service in the women's restroom. My nephew was being threatened with eviction from laser tag for crouching as i was being verbally assaulted next to her by an 8 year old. Had an event here for about 40ish people. It went perfectly. They were extremely flexible with us and willing to accommodate in pretty much every way. They had attendants that waited on us and were always available and willing to help. They were also very patient with us, as a group. Bowling was great. Laser Tag was great. The arcades were fun. Private room was perfect. Being able to eat at the alley was great. Appetizers were all very good. Food was fine. And it was all very affordable. We had the Fun Zone group deal, which was $29.95/person for all you can eat Buffett, 2 hours of bowling, 2 laser tag games, and $10 each in arcade money. Great deal and great time. We typically love Main Event and have visited several over several states. This one in Webster was probably the worse one I have ever visited. It's a great atmosphere for fun but the service in the food section was enough to make us leave. For starters they had quite a few customers lined up and it seemed like only two employees out of six that I counted were actually working. I may be wrong as I don't know their exact job duties so maybe they were being paid to watch two of their fellow coworkers work. Now for specifics. We came in as a family of four. We ordered the family pizza special. One pizza, four drinks and an order of loaded cheese fries with the ranch on the side instead of on the fries. They gave us our cups and we went to the drink station. The drink station was out of ice. I heard another customer advise one of the workers that there was no ice. She said "Ok. I'll have them bring some out." No need for me to mention as the other patron alerted them. We waited by the drink station for about 15 minutes. The only reason we stood by it so long because there were no tables available. They were not occupied but EVERY last table that was open was dirty. Plates, cups and food everywhere. No one open table was clean. I am not a difficult person so I didn't put much thought into it. The person that clean the table was busy. No biggie. After about 15-20 minutes, the drink station had accumulated a small line as everyone was waiting for ice. I caught the next employee and said "Hey, the drink station is out of ice." They responded "Ok". No one ever came with ice even though several employees was standing there watching us at the drink station. I finally got tired of standing there and went to clean off a table for us to sit. I pushed all the dirty dishes to one end of the table and cleaned the table with water and napkins. About 10 minutes later, my buzzer alerted me our food was ready. I approached the counter and when the guy placed the food on the counter, I asked him since they were out of ice, could we get Icee's instead. He said no because they're more. I said ok.. so we should just drink the warm drinks out the soda station? He said no, we have ice here at the counter. He takes my four cups, sit them on the counter, and turned around back to the food window. I stood there a few minutes and realized that he was purposely ignoring me. I caught another employee and told her those four cups were mine and I was trying to get some ice. She filled the cups and I returned to the table I cleaned. We sit down and realized they didn't give us plates. I went back to the counter and asked for four plates. They gave me four plates. I walk back to the table and started passing o out the plates. The top plate seemed ok but the other three plates had some brown sticky stuff on them, like syrup or something, and bits of old food stuck to them. I walk back to the counter and asked for more plates. I get more plates and walked back to the table only to realize that they didn't give us the ranch on the side. I walk back to the counter, showed the receipt to the employee and they gave us the ranch.. and again, there were two employees working really hard and four others literally just standing there looking. I'm a patient person and rarely complain but this was ridiculous.. the pizza wasn't that good but the fries were pretty good. If we had not already paid for the food, we would have left right then. We ate and then left. We left without enjoying the activities because the food experience knocked us out the mood. We went to the boardwalk instead. This place mostly reminds me of a Dave & Busters, but with more! We started out in a party room and got catered fajitas. The food was good and plentiful. Not the best fajitas, but definitely satisfied a craving. They have good service and to-go containers to take the certain leftovers. We bowled after that. Lanes are roomy enough but we had a large group and the game can take some time. They have cool animations to keep you entertained. Full service at the lanes, but that can be a bit slow if it's busy. Arcade games are typical, though a little expensive. There wasn't too big a crowd, even on a Saturday night, so we didn't have to wait. Laser tag is where it's at. How have I not known about this? I started off with a broken gun so I couldn't see what I was doing. The layout is good and has plenty of spaces to run around and hide. Be prepared to sweat. The putt putt isn't too hard, but being set in space makes for a interesting atmosphere. They open till 2am on Saturday, so swing by late if you feel like shooting things or going for a round of golf. read more
