The kitchen had an off day and some of our food wasn't prepared very well. The owner was walking by and asked how things were so I let him know we had some issues. He wanted to fix it but we were done eating and already paid so not much he could do. I wasn't even looking for him to do anything else but try to avoid the same mistakes with a future customer. As we were getting in the car....Dean stopped us, apologized again, and gave us a gift card to try his place again. Have been here twice so far. The first time I ordered the 12 oz. ribeye w/ fries and coleslaw. Steak ( med-rare) just a smidge over, but good. Love the coleslaw, which they bring with the meal and not as a starter like some places do. Okay with me. The Hubs ordered the burger with peanutbutter and jalapeños on it. He said it was good. Portion size of fries is big. I also had a spicy Bloody Mary, had a pickle spear and one green olive in it. It was yummy. The second time I ordered the same meal. What can I say, I am a sucker for a good steak. This time the steak was more med- well than med- rare. And the spices they sprinkle on top was a little too much with a big pile right in the center. I scraped it off. I also had another Bloody Mary. This time it had a pickle spear, 3 olives and a slice of bacon! But....it seemed like the spices that were on the steak were also in an inch thick layer of sludge in the bottom of the glass. Think Montreal Steak Seasoning. Also big hunks of something almost like salsa? Could not sip it through the straw. Definitely was better the first time. I would like to go back and try something else if I could only deviate from the steak. The other 6 at the table all had something different and they all said it was good. The wings are huge! Maybe I will try those. Atmosphere was great. We went early. 5 o'clock on a Monday. Not too crowded, but it did start to fill up by the time we left. I've eaten at the Mail Pouch a few times, and always want to like the place more than I actually do. It's a nicely designed place utilizing an old building in a small town --- all points in its favor. The menu is OK, but rather lacking in imagination. My main criticism is that it seems about 25%-35% overpriced in terms other places in the same general area. If the food was better, serving sizes larger, etc, I could understand the higher prices, but no of those things are true. Again, whenever I leave the Mail Pouch, I think, "Damn, I wish I could like that place more." read more

More like Fail Pouch Saloon. Rarely have I had such a poor dining experience. one of our party chose a pizza as it smelled good coming out of the kitchen. Wafer board crust with no flavor sauce which was served 10 minutes before the rest of our party's food. Then my ribs arrived, fatty full of gristle, slathered in a way too vinegary sauce which reeked of liquid smoke., bland baked beans and mediocre Mac and cheese. Then the band started at 8 pm during dinner hour. my partner pulled out his phone: they registered 90 decibels. By the time we got our check and left me ears were ringing and I had a headache. I can't believe the Blade gave this 31/2 stars. Absolutely horrid experience. When we complained to the manager, he looked at me like I was crazy. We will never go back. read more

Great food. Excellent service and fun atmosphere. My husband ordered the fried mushrooms for an appetizer, he love them. The house salad was mixed greens with cheese, tomato and cukes. Very fresh. We both ordered the ribeye, they were both cooked as ordered and were very flavorful. The sweet potato fries and beer battered onion rings were very good. First time their after hearing many good things about it. We came for a birthday party, 15 people on a Wednesday night. One negative is that they don't take reservations. We had about a half hour wait. Staff was very friendly and arranged the tables so we could all sit together. Good selection of beers on tap. Great variety of appetizers. One of our party mentioned how well laid out their website was as they looked up the menu before we got there. Our family of 4 had a couple appetizers, couple of beers, couple burgers, ribs, and godfather dogs for my son. All came to $90 including 15% tip. I'm not one to complain but here I go..... I have been to the Haskins location and liked it a lot, tried their new location in Swanton and had a terrible experience!!!! I will say, part of it was that we went on a Friday, so we knew it would be busy. We were told 45 min-1 hr wait and it was actually 1 1/2 hrs. (Big difference). So we finally got seated, ordered draft beer, which was barely anything close to cold. The waitress (who was very nice and she did a good job) could hardly hear us to take our order because the live band was SOOOO loud ( like concert level loud, like can't talk to the person sitting next to you loud), so if you want to be able to have any conversation, don't go on Fri, Sat or Sun- and I like live bands!!!! After another 1 hour wait for our food, the burger was over cooked, the fries were Luke warm, the chicken wings were burnt, but according to my son the Mac and cheese is "awesome"! Hopefully they are just working out the kinks but we won't be going back!!!!!!!! And it wasn't just us, as we were being seating I could read the lips ( since I couldn't hear a damn thing) of another customer complaining about how long they were waiting for their food! So if you like warm beer, over cooked, Luke warm food, no conversation and you have absolutely no where to go for the entire evening, you will love it:-( read more

Went to the Swanton location and I was not too impressed. It was so loud in there you could barely hear anyone speaking right next to you. The food was just okay, the chunks were a little dry (as a couple of other reviews mentioned), I was given the wrong sauce, it was a sweet hot sauce and it was pretty good, they said the chunks came with a side of dressing (ranch/bleu cheese) which I never received. However, I was charged an extra $.69 for Bleu Cheese dressing for my salad and it's not even homemade, I'm sure it's some restaurant service brand. Their menu states hand cut french fries but they looked and tasted like frozen bag fries. Someone in my party had the Lil Texan which they said was alright but had some gristle "Yuk" but said the red skin mashed potatoes with probably canned gravy was pretty good. Another person had the blazin blue cheeseburger cooked medium-well and they said it was good until they got home and had an upset tummy night. Definitely more of a bar type setting , lots of bikers and the drinking crowd it seemed (and don't mean that in a bad way). It's just the old place that was there was a restaurant and this is more of a bar that serves bar food. It does have the word "Saloon" in it's name so I guess if that's what you're looking for or want to show off your shiny Harley this is a good place. That's funny we weren't there.Called and visited and we got no response or help.They said the Owner would call and Make It Better..that was last Saturday.By Tuesday this week No Call.So Beware of Mail Pouch..Good Food Just Do Not Take your Credit Card..Some one will Reuse It!!
