The beer was cold and service was as expected. The fries were luke warm at best with my meal and the fried chicken sandwich said it was to be dunked in sauce and it was a light drizzle at best. I got a huge bologna sandwich and delicious homemade potato salad, the kind your aunt used to bring to the family reunion, for $6.99. I like this location better than the one on the bay. My son is in a quinceñera so we have been bringing him to practice every Sat this month in Genoa. In the Genoa area for our daughters' soccer game, we joined forces with another family to celebrate the girls' win at Rayz Cafe. With the restaurant packed and nine of us in our group, we expected a long wait, but were pleasantly surprised when the speedy staff were able to clean and re-arrange several tables, and seat our party in under ten minutes. After allowing us extra time to review the menu, our waitress Jayne was completely nonplussed by either the size of our party, or the fact that we were two separate bills, with everyone sitting all jumbled together between our two families. My crew ordered the Nacho Supreme with jalapenos for my wife, the beef and bean chimichanga for me, breaded shrimp dinners for both of my daughters, and the 10-piece wings (with hot BBQ sauce) for my son. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great, with multiple dining areas spread around the front and sides of the centrally located bar. Interestingly enough, a full-sized motorcycle was parked on top of the shelves holding the bar's liquor bottles. The dining room we were in was open and airy with high ceilings and huge windows looking out over Main Street. The walls featured various sport paraphernalia, including jerseys from local high school teams, as well as flags from noted national college teams. Flatscreen televisions were perched in the corners, as well as over the bar. High-backed wooden booths ringed the room, while four-person tables and comfortable chairs were liberally distributed everywhere else. Given how busy the restaurant was and the size of our party, we had steeled ourselves for a long wait for our food, but all things considered, it started coming out in a pretty reasonable period of time, with our waitress bringing out plates in groups of twos and threes after only about twenty minutes. When my daughter's plate was jostled on delivery, causing two of her shrimp to fall to the floor, our waitress -purely on her own and without any input from us- had the kitchen cook up replacements. Now that is what I call good customer service! Taste-wise, we all enjoyed our food, with my daughters describing their shrimp as being good sized (rather than the tiny shrimp they have had elsewhere), while my son praised the chicken-flavoured inferno in his mouth from the hot wings. My wife really liked her nachos, while I very much appreciated the good size and taste of my chimichanga. When our bill arrived, the total before tax and tip for our entrees and five waters was $48.09, which felt really good considering the amount of food we received. Even though a note at the bottom of the bill indicates a gratuity of 18% may be charged for tables of eight or more, I was pleased to see that our party of nine was not charged an automatic gratuity. Likewise, I was also happy to see that the restaurant did not try to 'nickel and dime' us to death, with no extra charges for either the ranch or second side sauce with my son's wings. For excellent service, good food at a reasonable price, and a great atmosphere, I rate Rayz Cafe as being Very Good, and will definitely be back! read more

Have been here a ton of times, for some reason the Genoa location isn't as good as the Sandusky one. The food is usually cold, and service isn't that good. I love the chunks but it gets old once you have awful service over and over. We just got take out, and the food is cold & there's barley any fries on our chunks. Sucks ): definitely don't recommend take out. read more

There were 8 in our party. The food took a very long time to get to us. Drink re-fills were not done, pre-bussing was not done. The food was not very warm. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold for most all in our party. It was just not a very good experience for anyone. It was not that busy at all. read more

This place is awesome & open as Covid winds down. They have a ton of inside space & their outside patios are great (they currently have 3)!Service was fast & friendly. Food was pretty darn good. I ended up getting chicken ballz which are friend pieces of chicken, like a chicken chunk. And I got them with 4 choice toppings....coleslaw, cheese, banana peppers & bacon, they were so good! Lightly fried, not heavy. Oh and they came with ranch to dip. I drank bottled domestic beer. Oh we did have appetizers for the table which were pretzel bites & fried cheese because they were out of fried pickles....both of our choices were just ok not amazing. The quality of the food seems to have gone down considerably lately. Our food took a while to come out, but the server explained that they had a large party in the back, which is fine. I'm pretty patient and don't mind waiting since we had our drinks and were playing Keno anyway. But please don't bring me fresh cut fries that look like this. I would not have served these. I would rather wait a couple more minutes and have food that I could eat than be served food that cannot be eaten that I paid extra for. Sorry probably will find another place to play Keno and eat. read more

Stopped here passing through coming from Michigan to Pennsylvania. And there food is pretty good. My father and I both had their gyro which was pretty good not great but still good with fries which are awesome hand cut fries that have a crisp to them not limp ones. Totally rebuilt since the fire a couple of years ago. It was a nice dive bar then, Its a really nice dive/biker bar now. A regular stop with clients of mine in the area. They have daily drink specials and live music most nights. NA beverages are served in a mason jar. The menu is larger then basic bar food with salads, wraps to supplement the large selection of burgers. Their signature burger is the Comet Burger, either 1/2 or 3/4 pound and rather then grilled or fried , its pan boiled in onions and it's own juices. Excellent and unique, but takes about 25 minutes to cook. The decor if you can call it that in a biker bar is wood floors, brick walls with a u shaped bar. A Harley is the centerpiece in the middle of the bar. Very friendly waitress and barmaids. All in all a great place for a bite to eat and a drink. read more

I am a burger person and these burgers should not be missed. Following a lengthy road trip, we were heading north to drive along the lake and happened upon the quaint city of Genoa when we searched for a place to eat nearby and this one had some good ratings. The corner where it sits faces the lovely city hall and town theater. They have an outdoor patio as well. My mom had the Swiss, mushroom and onion burger. Not only was the burger cooked to perfection, but so were the mushrooms and onion. I had the hickory bbq burger which had delicious onion rings on it. Yum! We got our with their hand cut fries which were also very good. Our service was great and our server friendly. I hope I'll pass through the area again at some point so I can enjoy these great burgers. read more

We brought a group of 16 in for lunch for a family get together. Although it was right after the lunch rush, we were seated and our drinks were brought. I got tired watching our server, because she was all over, but ensured we were taken care of. Our group was made up of those who have been before and others who were new to the place. Due to the group size, it took a little longer to get our food, but it all came out hot and there was plenty of it. All of the orders were correct and very good. I love this place. I have only been here a couple times prior to today but it has been a great experience every time. Today was my husbands first time trying Rayz. It is a bar/restaurant with a nice small town, family atmosphere! Very spacious and a sports themed interior. My husband had the coldest beer he has ever drank in a restaurant!!!!! Ice was formed on the bottle, that alone will keep his business coming back forever!!! I am addicted to the "comet balls" try them on your visit. I found their bacon and home fries a little under-cooked for my taste so I started asking for my bacon crispy (some people don't like crispy bacon) and asked for my home fries to be fried. Had a late lunch here today. Both my lunch companion and I ordered the Reuben which came with a side of fries. The Reuben was served on a caraway rye bread with the typical sauerkraut and thousand island dressing complimenting the Swiss cheese and pastrami. The portions are adequate and the food served promptly. Service was quick and personable. The waitress was willing to identify her favorites and supplied everything we asked for promptly and even extra napkins without our asking. I'd eat lunch here again. read more
