I had a late night at the office and with a 5am flight from Chicago, I was ready to check into my hotel and have some food delivered. Mai Dragon popped up on my Yelp feed that delivered, with close proximity to my hotel. I picked some generic items; the orange chicken and mapo tofu, which they said would arrive in about an hour. Sure enough, someone came knocking on my door exactly an hour later with my food. The chicken was average at best, a little more citrus flavor than I've had at prior venues. The tofu was also average at best, as I felt the marinade was lacking in flavors. Normally a great place. Very slow delivery so I usually expect at least an hour even though I live close. After over 90 minutes I called and they claimed they only just got the order and it would be another 45 minutes. I was pretty angry, but said fine, at least throw in another $5 tuna roll. They asked the manager who said the best they could do was a free eggroll. The guy on the phone laughed because he knew how ridiculous it was. Pathetic. Own up to your mistake and fix it next time rather than losing a customer. Probably the most moronic decision you could make as a manager. I've only ever come for dim sum on the weekends and have yet to be disappointed. Some weekends they'll have push carts while others they won't. You can order specific dim sum dishes if they have yet offered it to you or the dish isn't available on the push carts. I'm not a fan of the familiar and common dim sum dishes; no shumai or hargow for me. I find their fried options are always crispy and filled with filling, especially the fried taro dumplings and glutinous rice dumplings. Turnip/radish cakes are pretty good here as well as leek/chive pan fried dumpling, steamed tripe, shrimp noodle rolls, bbq pork buns. For dessert I'd recommend the egg tarts, sponge cake, pineapple buns, and sweet tofu. It does get busy here early on the weekends so make sure your party arrives together or come later in the day risking something dishes to be sold out. read more

Okay, this place changed. I'm talking about a 180 degree change. I thought this place was pretty good, but when I tried their Dim Sum a few months ago, I was slightly blown away. I've been here a total of 9 Saturdays and once on a Monday ever since I found out they had Dim Sum and an Authentic Chinese menu around 3 months ago. Is their Dim Sum THAT amazing? Well, it depends on when you go, what you order and how close you are to their kitchen (if it's crazy busy there). There's a stigma going around regarding Chinese restaurants serving Dim Sum and how the service was ALWAYS terrifyingly horrible especially to foreign people (non-Chinese). I've come to this place with all kinds of different people; white, black, Asian, Indian, kids and disabled. Each and every time I go there for Dim Sum, they have always, ALWAYS treated us as if we were their family. Each time I go there, they would always try speaking Chinese to me, but then when they find out I'm not, they laugh and say "Oh sorry! I thought you were Chinese haha!" and/or somewhere along those lines. Whoever comes up with the carts, they are always smiling and even laughing when we hesitate to get the Chicken Feet. Our waters are usually filled on time unless their whole restaurant is packed with another line of customers wait patiently in line for their share of Dim Sum. Basically what I'm saying is when you get their Dim Sum on Saturday's, their service beats any other Dim Sum place in Maryland. #srs Amazing Dim Sum: Shu Mai, Egg Custard, Pork wrapped in Tofu, Shrimp wrapped in noodle, Beef Chow Fun, BBQ Pork Pastry, Durian Pastry. Great Dim Sum: Short Ribs, Sesame Bun, Spare Ribs, Pineapple Buns, Boiled Tripe w/ Ginger, Roasted Duck. Good Dim Sum: Hainanese Chicken, BBQ Pork Baked Buns, BBQ Pork Steamed Bun, Shrimp fried Taro, Shrimp Dumplings, Chicken Feet, Pork & Chive Dumplings. Mediocre Dim Sum: Sticky Rice w/ Pork, Snow Pea Leaves, Pumpkin Dumplings, Roasted BBQ Pork, Dry Crispy Noodles. Bad Dim Sum: Now, please remember that everything above was about the Dim Sum on Saturday's. When we went to the restaurant on Monday for lunch, our service was TERRIBLE. It wasn't slow, it's just whoever waited on us was clearly apathetic and whenever we asked for something, he would give it to us by slamming them on the table. We ordered a few amazing dishes including a whole chicken dish, salt & pepper fried seafood and general tso chicken, but 10 minutes later our waiter informed us that they didn't have any more of the whole chicken. So we opted for 2 orders of fried chicken wings w/ fries and another seafood dish. When we got our food, we got everything including the whole chicken dish but didn't get the last seafood dish.... ??? We didn't say anything but our waiter told us he will not charge us for the missing seafood dish and will also comp another for us. Wow... Really?! :D I took pics of the foods we've received, but my phone broke and I'm still waiting for my replacement to come in. It's been a week now. :( The whole chicken dish was amazing. It looked and smelled like the Roasted Duck, but the taste was different, obviously, but that it also had a few distinct flavors including Star Anise and... Fennel? It was great. The Salt & Pepper fried Seafood was fantastic as well. It was pretty much fried pieces of seafood which consists of scallops, shrimp and squid seasoned with salt and pepper and mixed with hot peppers and garlic. It sounds so simple and it really is, but the food was cooked perfectly. Nothing was chewy and it tasted great. The General Tso Chicken was better than the usual carry-out kind, but it didn't compare to Grace Garden' which is a mile down the road. The 2 fried chicken wings with fries were to be expected; mediocre. And the sauce it came with was nowhere near what mumbo sauce should be. When we got the bill, he charged us for everything including the missing seafood dish and there was no comp... I didn't care about the comp, I cared about him lying to us and then charging us for that missing dish. I don't know his name, but I will forever remember his "IDGAF" face. Luckily, I have never seen him during the Dim Sum days. To whomever this review reaches to, within the restaurant staff, I pray that you never allow this same man to serve Dim Sum on the weekends. Updated review: I went back last night and got beef chow mein and egg rolls. It's so hard to find good beef chow mein, and this place was spot on. Everything was good to the beef all the way to the broth. Will be back. Old: got general tso's chicken the sauce wasn't hot like it's supposed to be instead it was more like sesame chicken in a way. The chicken was overdone as well felt like I was chewing on plastic. The egg rolls were pretty good though. I'll still give it another try but I feel it was overpriced for the not so good food. read more

Wonton soup was legit and had this different wow spice inside the wontons. I live near this place and order from it pretty frequently, I have to say, the quality is seriously declining, Every time we order it's a gamble as to whether or not it's going to be good. Last night my husband and I both ordered the Sashimi (D) platters and it was awful. Almost more than HALF of the pieces of fish were COMPLETELY FROZEN. In both of our orders. Is that ok? Serving paying customers FROZEN food? I couldn't eat half of my food which was $34, EACH. I am NEVER ordering from here again, that was the last straw. read more

I'm grew up in the greater New York City/New Jersey area and I'm intimately familiar with authentic Cantonese Chinese food. Especially Cantonese food from Chinatown in Manhattan and 8th Avenue in Brooklyn. That being said, this is one of the most authentic Cantonese Chinese restaurants around in this part of Maryland. There aren't many of these restaurants in MD unlike NY/NJ. The food is really good, try the Salt & Pepper pork chop (classic) and the Walnut Shrimp (also a classic). The portions are very generous, they don't skimp on the portions at all, you'll have leftovers. The staff were pleasant the times I visited. Hope this helps. read more

I am visiting from CA. My colleagues took me to this restaurant. The food was good. But , I was surprised to see that they charged for the green tea that they provide. All the Chinese restaurant that I visited in the past give the green tea for free. That is a custom. But , here they charged. I wish they did not ...it left a sour taste... read more

Where do I begin? The floors are sticky immediately upon entry and continue through the entire restaurant. The back dining room smells like a dirty, moldy mop. The bathroom was certainly not cleaned for days, if not much more. The service is not service, instead a direct and clear indication that your very presence is the most inconvenient portion of the day. A complete waste of $$ and a Friday Night As I was working on a college paper and could not go out I placed an online order. The distance is a 1/2 mile from my driveway to the restaurant. I ordered a dish of Pad Thai (extra spicy), Sesame Chicken, and 2 Spring Rolls. After 2 phone calls to the restaurant the food arrived 1 hour and 45 minutes later. The only item that was edible was the spring rolls. 1) The fried rice that accompanied the dish was white with soy sauce sprinkled on it. 2) The Pad Thai was completely bland and oily 3) The Sesame Chicken was hard as a rock and unable to be chewed. There was also no flavor to the sauce at all. All the dishes were lukewarm at best. This is not the first time we have ordered from Mai Dragon, a previous order was placed for pick up 30 minutes prior to pickup via their online system so my husband could stop on the way home from work. When he arrived they had not even noticed their was an order received. The order at that time was marginally better tasting. We have lived her 4 years as of February. When we first moved here they did not offer dim sum. We where so happy to find a great Chinese place and one that delivers to top it off. Both dine in and delivery was always great. Shortly before they added dim sum is when things started sliding down hill. Delivery times where longer and longer and the food started becoming hit or miss. We figured maybe they had a new cook and we just caught them on the wrong night. The past 6 months I've ordered 3 or 4 times, out of convenience when I was sick and they are the only place that delivers to me. Each time has been worse than the last but tonight topped it off. I will no longer order from them. I ordered online via Beyond Menu; the Pad Thai, 2 rolls sushi diner, and an order of wonton soup for my sick daughter. Placed my order around 7:45. An hour later my food still wasn't here so I called to make sure the order had gone through. Was told the driver indeed had already left and should be there shortly. 20 minutes later still no food. Called back out of concern. He said let me call the driver and see what's going on I'll call you back. No call back. 10 minutes later my food was finaly here. I've had better sushi from them before.. This time rice was gummy and sticky and there was no spicy anything in my spicy tuna and salmon rolls. Except the 4 peices covered in Wasabi from being shoved into a small box. The pad Thai is what was so off putting. I received a huge pile of noodles that where so rubbery and gross. It was one huge glob. At first I thought they left out the meat... No. It was hiding under the pile of noodles with a few peices of egg and maybe 10 bean sprouts in total. Came with a lime and some peanut crumbles. This dish was completely inedible. There was no sauce on the noodles.. No seasoning on the chicken.. Just a light coating or some weird very gross sauce. I have ordered this dish a few times in the past and it was not made this way. Neither me nor my daughter could stomach it. Wanted to try their pork buns... But i will continue to have them shipped from Hawaii before I order here again. read more

This place is disgusting and a complete waste of money. I really wanted to like it, but it was so bad and I'm shocked people like it. We spent $50 on food and ended up throwing it all away and eating leftovers. I feel bad witting a bad review, but the food really was not good at all. The fried rice was just white rice with soy sauce and the dumplings were frozen on the inside which makes me think they are probably prepackaged frozen dumplings that they warm up. We went back one other time to try and it was still not good. I asked around and got reviews from people I personally know and they agreed with how bad the food is and said to try Grace Garden, which I wouldn't definitely recommend trying over this place. read more

Came here on two separate occasions for Dim Sum and was pleased with what I had . Very traditional dim sum items with very authentic taste. You will have to order the dim sum from the menu on weekdays but they do push the carts on weekends. Get the tofu pudding (very light and smooth) for dessert with ginger syrup on the side to adjust your own sweetness --only available on weekends. The baked buns sells out quickly so get there early. read more

It;s no easy task finding Dim Sum in Baltimore. After checking Yelp for any local options, Mai Dragon came up. It is tucked in a mall but relatively easy to find. Front desk staff welcomed us and we only waited about 10 minutes for a table. Carts rolled by with the standard selections of Dim Sum offerings but nothing unusual. Shrimp dumplings, spare ribs and shrimp/chive dumplings were excellent. Barbecue pork bun was a little sweet. Torpedo rolls were fresh and hot and pineapple buns for dessert rounded out our meal. About $15/pp, so pretty standard. We'll be back. read more

Ideal location so there's no issue to easy access coming from work or home. So this makes me a little sad with the quality of the food. It's not that the food wasn't hot. It was hot and smelled delicious. It was how boring and under-flavored they made the dishes. If I were blindfolded, I would not know what I was eating from the various dishes I ordered last Friday. The Singapore noodles dish was the only one that was distinguishable because of its curry flavor. Still, it lacked flavor and depth. It was my first time and I ordered about five entrees. Then got seated in a back room where only 2 dim sum carts came by. My family usually orders a lot of food but not this time since there was no variety. Service was fine but we had to ask for things.
