Banana bread
Rupel J.

The banana bread here was decent. Definitely not the best on the island but hit the spot when there was nothing else open. Salted caramel on top was a nice touch but definitely made it less authentic. The server was super nice and gave us the biggest piece. There was a nice seating outdoor to enjoy!

Spam musabi with egg

GF spam musabi with EGG!!!! This is my favorite thing to buy here. At $5 a pop, it's my go to snack at any time of day. Breakfast is done at 10am if you can peel your face off of the pillow that early- the eggs looked great for that too.

The reasons I chose three stars is because 1.the price for a poke bowl with 1/2 the ingredients they use at food land . You can get so much more for your buck anywhere else. You can also only choose 3 toppings and it was absolutely not worth the price. The only thing I really enjoyed was the banana breast

I cannot vouch for the cooked food, but the premade food for grab and Go was good, and items I didn't actually try also looked good.

Our server (older gentleman) was the best, he was funny and very knowledgeable when it come to the menu. The pizza is AMAZING, def try the pizza. The pasta (pesto sauce) was sooooo yummmm. You can def taste how fresh the pasta is. Everything was so good we came back the next night LOL. The staff ever remembered us which was sweet. This was our favorite dinner spot and so excited to come back on our next trip to Maui. After having burrata here I won't be able to have it anywhere else haha. The hazelnut gelato was also very delicious, very fresh.

But we didn't. And it was due to logistical decisions made by staff. Let me explain... We had a 7:15pm reservation but arrived to a large crowd waiting out front and no one at the hostess stand. We were able to check in closer to 7:30. I felt assured when Qiana politely told an impatient patron that she had to seat those with reservations first. But that party of four, and others, were seated before us. After 40+ minutes waiting, Qiana apologized for a table that was lingering and asked if we wanted to wait for a table upstairs or be seated on the crowded lanai (with several young children) or wait a bit for a table upstairs. I chose upstairs. We waited for that lingering party to depart; no one left. Then 15-20 minutes later, we were seated upstairs. That was one hour after our reservation at 8:15pm. The logistical decisions and bad luck continued because there was a large party of ~10 also seated upstairs and they took priority over us. Our entrees arrived 45 minutes later (9pm by now). By this time, my family was very hungry and a little mad at the situation. I felt disrespected for the circumstances. The staff was nice, but actions were speaking louder than words. I usually rave about food in my reviews, but the long wait and how situations were handled (there were more I'm not describing) colored our special evening out and how the bites were received. Our evening at Sale Pepe turned out to be a low light, instead of the highlight I expected, from our Maui holiday.

It's gorgeous inside and some of the best service we've had - hostess, waiter, bussers, everyone was excellent. We also loved the food we had. It's upscale and island prices, but well worth it. Everything was tasty and we enjoyed a nice bottle of wine. They will cork your leftovers for you to take back so don't be shy about getting a bottle. We're so happy this part of Front Street is surviving and thriving and we will definitely be back.

It turns out it was an awesome dining experience and he truly enjoyed the flight tasting experience! We made reservations for the dinner. You need to make reservations ahead of time for the restaurant if you plan to eat there. This small cozy restaurant has breathtaking views and the waves cresting against the coast was an amazing sounding experience. We started with a half dozen of oysters it was so fresh, the shave wasabi went so terrific with it. We added the beef tallow truffle fries and it was delicious as well. I ordered the chef specialty fresh fish dish and my husband had an osso bucco. Both were delicious and filled us up. He ordered a couple different whiskeys and he said it blended well with all the dishes. They had many options for dessert. We ordered Roselani's vanilla ice cream and a americano. It was the perfect finish to our dining experience!
