This review is more food based with a bit of generosity. We had been eating at lounge, flight, and arrival on our trip and by the time dinner came we had already snacked and drank on our beach lanai. So we just wanted a simple share dish of comfort food as opposed to the sit down dining we are familiar with in this area. So we chose this and the Huli Huli chicken that we haven't had authentically in quite a while. When waiting at the counter and watching too young fellows having fun in the kitchen, we struggled to order. The young lady was hiding behind the counter on her phone. Another senior couple was staring at the menu and left because they weren't sure etc and then with us she jumped up. When we ordered she asked quite judging if that was all???? Annoyed she took our order. Very odd. But the food was ready fairly quickly and we got Mac salad and rice with it and chicken over a bed of cabbage. It was very moist tender and relatively generous with a tasty slightly sweet sauce. It was a perfect choice for what we needed and though not the best we had ever had, very worthwhile! It's fast food in a mall food court of course but watching this worker do her job before during and after ordering clearly shows some needs for training. The salmon was five stars. Super tender, moist, and flavorful. The Caesar salad was mediocre; the romaine had "rust" - when it's old and gets pinkish/brown. The croutons were stale and blah. Usually I see it with a hamburg patty, but this was a nice deviation from the usual recipe! The portion is quite huge, and comes with rice and egg to help enhance the flavor! My tween son and I enjoyed the dinner we had here. It was a nice fast casual restaurant in between 2 other places in a food court inside of Whalers Village. The tables inside the food court were clean. There are also tables outside. Service was friendly. Since the food is made to order, there is a slight wait- this isn't fast food. But the slight wait is worth it for very fresh food. I had Huli Huli Chicken and my son had Teriyaki Salmon. Both entrees came with rice and Caesar salad. All was delicious! The chicken was moist and had great flavor. There are canned or bottled non-alcoholic beverages for purchase. The 2 suggestions I have for the restaurant are to have more photos of their food available to look at as that is what helps sell, and to utilize an order # system (or something similar) so they can efficiently and accurately get food out to customers when ready and there are no mix ups (our food was almost given to another group but somehow another staff member (I think the cook?!) realized the error and pointed the food into our direction instead). Pricing isn't the lowest but it is high quality food and in comparison to other options in the area, I think it is still good value. I definitely recommend! read more

Cafe Jai offers similar quality meals at a slightly better price point. I ordered the chopped steak with rice and Caesar salad for $17, and it was a solid deal for Kaanapali, Hawaii. The portion was perfect, especially considering I'd already eaten a bit before snapping this pic. The chopped steak was amazing. I could seriously drink the sauce it came with. The rice and salad were just right, not skimpy at all. I'd absolutely come back to get this again or try something new. Oh, and props to the cashier who was super kind, even while dealing with some rude lady from the mainland who was giving them a hard time.
