The positives: French fries were fresh. Food was hot. My son likes the salad and fries. Improvement opportunities: Breakfast burrito was below average at best; it was tasteless and watery. Chicken quesadilla was cold and below average per wife. We spent over a hundred dollar here and they wanted to charge an extra dollar per additional salsa cup. They could have done better.
A great alternative to the resort hotel breakfasts. It's a hearty meal, even shareable, and you can sit in the air conditioning to enjoy it. On the bottom floor of Whaler's Village, in the food court, and they open early.

The salmon was five stars. Super tender, moist, and flavorful. The Caesar salad was mediocre; the romaine had "rust" - when it's old and gets pinkish/brown. The croutons were stale and blah. The chicken katsu was good at first bite but then dry as it got cold. Additionally it took forever to cook. However, the woman who took my order was extremely friendly and super nice. We were in a hurry and it was faster than a sit down meal, so it's a good option for a time crunch.

For my first time visiting the Whalers Village, to find this gem of a place meant that I didn't have to spend a long time looking for food choices, as it offered a lot of the simple things I wanted in terms of local flavors! Their huli chicken was so good that it was sadly sold out by the time I arrived. However, I loved their loco moco kalua pork. Usually I see it with a hamburg patty, but this was a nice deviation from the usual recipe! The portion is quite huge, and comes with rice and egg to help enhance the flavor! It's one of the cheaper food alternatives on Maui if you are looking to save money for other activities, and a great bargain for food! The service was fast, and the ambiance is great for what it is. It's nice and cool in the food court, if you are seeking refuge during the muggy days when there might be vog. 10/10 recommend!

They were busy but he took patient time to take our order. Burrito was tasty! Great flavors, grilled just right wrap, big size. Would order again. A to-go spot really. No alcohol, just soft drinks. As we left, the same server sent us off with have a nice day.
Service is great. Definitely more of a pick-up and go type of environment, not a sit down restaurant. The food was good, although the chicken thighs were a little fattier than I like. Flavors were amazing otherwise!
One of the better food options in Whaler's village. We tried the Huli huli chicken. Chicken itself was really good. Very flavorful and cooked well. Caesar salad was interesting combo. Staff are very friendly. The tables in the mall area were clean and nice to sit at food came out fast. Thought it was a little overpriced for such an informal, quick meal compared to portion size

Cafe Jai. Serving delicious island and asians inspired dishes. 1st time, tried the drunken noodle. On the salty side but packed with flavors. Maybe side of rice would have been better. Next morning, did the loco moco. It was good but craved for some kimchee. Can we have option to add this? Over all, good food, friendly employees. Ordering was easy. The Costco water mark up was crazy high. read more

Small food court spot that has excellent food! Tried the kalua pork loco loco that came out pretty hefty. Nice amount of rice, lots of kalua pork with the right amount of tasty gravy and 2 over easy eggs on top. The gravy had the right amount of consistency to be not be too watery and the right savoriness! Will try other items next time! read more
I was a little bummed that when I arrived they did not have any more of the steak or the loco mocos. We ended up order the Maui Wowie Fried Chicken. It's not your typical fried chicken rather it was like chicken tender bites. The chicken was fried to perfection though and was super crispy. I do believe they drench the chicken in way too much sauce so worth asking if it's possible to have sauce on the side. read more

My tween son and I enjoyed the dinner we had here. It was a nice fast casual restaurant in between 2 other places in a food court inside of Whalers Village. The tables inside the food court were clean. There are also tables outside. Service was friendly. Since the food is made to order, there is a slight wait- this isn't fast food. But the slight wait is worth it for very fresh food. I had Huli Huli Chicken and my son had Teriyaki Salmon. Both entrees came with rice and Caesar salad. All was delicious! The chicken was moist and had great flavor. There are canned or bottled non-alcoholic beverages for purchase. The 2 suggestions I have for the restaurant are to have more photos of their food available to look at as that is what helps sell, and to utilize an order # system (or something similar) so they can efficiently and accurately get food out to customers when ready and there are no mix ups (our food was almost given to another group but somehow another staff member (I think the cook?!) realized the error and pointed the food into our direction instead). Pricing isn't the lowest but it is high quality food and in comparison to other options in the area, I think it is still good value. I definitely recommend! read more

This place is in a food court in Whalers village and when you're stuck in resorts, an escape in terms of high dining and convenient if you're just stopping in for black rock. It's not cheap- 20 dollars for a plate lunch? That's sorta expensive but it's island life and the portion is on the actual portion control side so this is either a hit or miss depending if you're dieting or hungry looking for a bang for your buck. Which you won't find anything cheap on the island! Service is good cuz all you gotta do is order at the cashier Eat outside when the weather is good or when it's bad cuz there's really no inside eating. Or by the beach if it's not too scorching hot. First time trying Cafe Jai in the Whalers Village food court, and I'm so glad I didn't overlook this spot! Joey's Kitchen is great, but their prices feel a bit steep. Cafe Jai offers similar quality meals at a slightly better price point. I ordered the chopped steak with rice and Caesar salad for $17, and it was a solid deal for Kaanapali, Hawaii. The portion was perfect, especially considering I'd already eaten a bit before snapping this pic. The chopped steak was amazing. I could seriously drink the sauce it came with. The rice and salad were just right, not skimpy at all. I'd absolutely come back to get this again or try something new. Oh, and props to the cashier who was super kind, even while dealing with some rude lady from the mainland who was giving them a hard time. Definitely worth a visit! 5 stars, also got my meal in about 10 minutes. read more

This is a small shop located in the food court on the bottom level of the Whalers Village Shopping Mall. We ordered the steak and shrimp over rice (4/5) which had good flavor, but I would probably order the steak medium next time to make it a little more tender. I wasn't a huge fan of the fish tacos (3/5), and probably wouldn't order those again. All in all, worth a shot for a quick meal at the shopping mall. read more

Good I got was Chopped Steak with peppers and onions covered in teriyaki sauce. A small side of Caesar salad. Sadly they ran out of chicken and 75 percent of their menu used it. Service was good. Polite and smiling when they explained that they had NO chicken. ( poor management). As for Ambiance it was as expected in a fast food court. read more

I always order the steak plate and I drive all the way here just for it!! The cook is very talented and he always shows he is happy to go an extra mile to please the customers. The food comes perfectly done! Besides that, the crew is so friendly at all times! Appreciate you all :) read more
