Don't forget to go to Takamiya market in Happy Valley get their goodies daily there (bentos, Hawaiian lau lau & kalua pig on Fridays, best patato/mac salad, etc). I hate giving bad reviews, but I feel people need to know in case they are considering catering from here for a large event. We recently catered a wedding and ordered Hawaiian food for 100 people. Luckily, we served and portioned the food from the beginning. Dani's provided one large pan and one small pan of rice. For 100 people??? The first thing to run out was the rice. The portion size is extremely small and I wouldn't recommend them for large events unless you are feeding children. Don't get me wrong, the food was amazing. After reading a lot of reviews here and on other catering websites found for Maui, I chose Dani's Catering: 1) they are a local business who stepped up when help was needed in the days following the deadly fire which took so many lives and the beloved Lahaina-town, providing hot meals for those in need, 2) the food looked great and it did not disappoint ... all family who came to celebrate my mom next journey enjoyed the food, and 3) the price for great quality. They are closed in Sunday's starting in September, so I picked up on Saturday, refrigerated the food and served next day. One way I gauge if the food is good, I look in the trash cans ... there was no food thrown away, so I know my family enjoyed! If you are looking for a reasonable priced caterer for your next event, please look at Dani's Catering and support the local businesses. The smell of the grill had me pulling up to place an order. I got kahlua pork with rice and salted cabbage. I love salted cabbage. Next time i will add a side of salted cabbage. I love the combo of rice, pork, cabbage. Heavy on the cabbage. I like how they add a chunk of banana bread on top of a bakers sheet with a napkin and silverware. The banana bread is a sweet treat and an awesome surprise for newcomers. They also take credit cards. Food is up real quickly but still enough time to grab stuff at Takamiyas (sp) i like the presentation and its everything you need packed neat. Not sure if they'll be able to fill everyone's needs as a gourmet catering business, but if you need a lot of bentos, a bunch of pans of good food, and you need it for a lot of people (orders 100+, give at least a week notice please), this is the place to contact and they'll get good food for your occasion right away. Give Anthony a call, and he and his crew will do their best to get you great food for affordable prices. They do offer many Japanese favorites like chicken or pork katsu, teriyaki beef, namasu, nishime, and others. Check out their catering menu if you are wondering at all about what's offered... so long it's at least a week ahead, you probably could order for 1000+ and Anthony would find a way to help you out. read more

Wow, I can't believe there are no reviews yet on this place! They've been here for decades! Even if you've never been here, you've more than likely eaten their food at a local wedding, party, or even a funeral. ATMOSPHERE: Dani's has been in the same spot ever since I can remember. They're not just a catering company, but they have their own facility that can accommodate big parties. It's a very nondescript building in the middle of the Wailuku Industrial Park. The inside is nothing special either, but it's the company attending the party that makes it special, right? Parking can be a hassle because their private lot isn't big, so it's all street parking after it's full. FOOD: Noodles - Though the noodles can be a little overcooked, the flavor really makes up for it, and believe me, I'm not a fan of overcooked noodles! It's a stir fry of yellow ramen-like noodles with fresh broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, crunchy green beans, onions, and kamaboko. Very tasty. Potato Mac Salad - Believe it or not, there is way too much mayo in their version, even for me (oink.) On the plus side, it's NOT sweet, NOT tart, and NO onions are mixed in. There are bits of carrot which I could do without, and fresh peas which I love. Sushi - They make the infamous Hawaii staple, the Maki, which is good, and the cone sushi which I'm not a fan of. That aburaage skin grosses me out lol. Roast Pork - Mmm... Deliciously light colored gravy and super tender meat. I usually like my roast pork shredded, but this sliced version was damn tasty! A close second place to my favorite version from Bentos & Banquets By Bernard. FACT: They're affiliated with and are related to the Takamiya Market. We had their spam musubi for my cousin's pre-wedding beach gathering. It was very delicious. The rice was on point. The spam had wonderful flavor with the furikake and sauce. We had Dani's cater for our wedding and while the food was absolutely delicious, we had some problems. Anthony was very responsive while we emailed back and forth, and I was very excited to work with them. The price was very reasonable for what we were asking for. We ordered Menu 1 with shoyu chicken, teri beef, and fried mahi mahi. We paid extra to have kalua pig as a fourth entree. However, the big day came and while we were given the kalua pig and shoyu chicken, we got chicken hekka and nishime instead of the teri beef and fried mahi mahi. We were pretty disappointed as a few of our guests don't eat meat. When we brought this up, all we got was a, "Sorry, hope everything worked out okay!" Other than that, everything went relatively smoothly. They showed up on time and the food was hot, but they did not provide serving utensils like they said they would. Luckily, we had lots of tongs and spoons to use. There was also some confusion as the delivery guy apparently handed a wedding guest a list scrawled out on a piece of paper; I think it was supposed to be the list of dishware to return to them, but of course the little piece of paper got lost. We returned everything without difficulty within the next couple days though. Food is totally worth the price and very tasty, just wish we could've gotten the dishes we ordered. I used Danis catering for our wedding and was not very impressed. They did not communicate well during the planning process. The food was dry and the staff that delivered it was rude and very unprofessional. They didnt bring enough silverware to accommodate all the guests and practically yelled at my family members who were helping to solve the issue. The only good thing i have to say is that the food portions were huge and it was cheap. You get what you pay for. read more

So very disappointed with Dani's!! I'm usually a supporter of them, but I ordered Chicken Katsu, Teri Beef, & Dry Mein. I got chicken Katsu with NO Katsu sauce, Teri Beef, & rice in stead of noodles. It was supposed to feed 50 hungry students, but well, we'll see!!! We have lots of rice!!! The guy over the phone even suggested I make my own rice. So sad, I will never use this catering service ever again. So sad. read more

I recently needed to have food catered for my father's funeral service. I'm now live on Oahu and was not familiar with the different caterers on Maui. Dani's was one that was recommended and they didn't disappoint. For the price and the food quality was worth much more. I ordered the $13.50 per person menu and you really get your money worth. You get two types of sushi- cone and maki style and regular white rice in a pan. You get potato/ mac salad, green salad or namasu and your choice of noodles. Then you select three hot entrees I choose the mochico chicken which was so tasty, roast pork with gravy and the pork was so soft and sooo good and they gave ample amount of gravy. Lastly the fried mahi-mahi was also so delicious and they accommodated my special request for both tartar and the butter caper sauce to be put on the side. We used Dani's for our wedding and could not have been more pleased. Anthony was our contact and was always available to answer questions leading up to the big day. On the day of our wedding, the crew showed up on time and set up the whole buffet line. They even brought the plates and utensils. The food was fresh and delicious. We were a bit hesitant of how the quality of the food would be because the price was so reasonable, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor. It was perfect! read more
