So we just wanted a simple share dish of comfort food as opposed to the sit down dining we are familiar with in this area. So we chose this and the Huli Huli chicken that we haven't had authentically in quite a while. When waiting at the counter and watching too young fellows having fun in the kitchen, we struggled to order. The young lady was hiding behind the counter on her phone. Another senior couple was staring at the menu and left because they weren't sure etc and then with us she jumped up. When we ordered she asked quite judging if that was all???? Annoyed she took our order. Very odd. But the food was ready fairly quickly and we got Mac salad and rice with it and chicken over a bed of cabbage. It was very moist tender and relatively generous with a tasty slightly sweet sauce. It was a perfect choice for what we needed and though not the best we had ever had, very worthwhile! It's fast food in a mall food court of course but watching this worker do her job before during and after ordering clearly shows some needs for training. I'd eat here again and might for a simple meal.

With the top down in our rented BMW, the drive to the farm was magnificent and set the perfect tone for the day. When we arrived, we were greeted at the gate by Jake, who welcomed us as we waited for the rest of the guests. Once inside the open-air kitchen, Whitney warmly introduced herself and gave us a brief overview of the schedule. Jake then shared an introduction to the land and his farming philosophy. As a former finance manager, I appreciated how clearly he understood both the economics and the regenerative methods that make the farm sustainable and healthy. We began with introductions, sharing where we were from, our names, and what we were grateful for which created an immediate sense of community. Jake then guided us on a tour of the farm, walking us through the plants and trees that would soon become our lunch. We tasted herbs, vegetables, and fruit straight from the earth. His depth of knowledge, from soil health to post-harvest practices was impressive, and he thoughtfully answered every question. After the tour, we moved into meal preparation. Family-style, we chopped, stirred, whisked, and even made our own tortillas. The fresh salsa had a wonderful bite, and preparing the vegetables and eggs ourselves made the meal even more satisfying. To top it all off, we enjoyed a homemade vegan ice cream made with fresh fruit from the farm, the perfect ending. Jake and Whitney were gracious, kind hosts who mingled easily with the group and created an environment that was both educational and welcoming. We highly recommend this class.     Hiram, Jordan, BRAVO!…read more My family (8 of us, with all very different tastes) have unanimously agreed that Hiram created for us one of the greatest meals each of us have ever eaten. The food however was not the only high point - Honu Cuisine is a package. It's Hiram's incredible ability to source the best and freshest ingredients, use his customer's menu choices to perfectly match those ingredients, and create a beautiful, artistic, and incredibly tasty meal. It's also about Hiram's carefully chosen "front of house" assistant. That's right, he comes with a partner. In our case we feel very lucky and honored for that front of house to be Jordan. He is a long-time resident of the island, a fruit and vegetable farmer, and an incredibly knowledgeable foodie and Maui host. Separately Hiram and Jordan would be spectacular, together they are magical. The meal was entertaining, stimulating, and delicious. Hiram brought everything from cookware to serving dishes along with his incredible ingredients, Jordan brought fresh flowers and entertainment. Chef Hiram and Jordan were so much fun, and the dishes were incredible: the shrimp appetizer, the risotto, the crispy skin onaga on jalapeno/pork belly slaw, the roast chicken with pine nut/caper puree and root vegetables, and the banana coconut cream pie with fresh fruit in a savory/sweet crust. All the ingredients were fresh and organic, some picked only hours earlier on the estate Jordan manages. Everything was gorgeously presented and delicious. A real treat!
