Chef Ivory White does not run a legitimate business. I really wish I checked Yelp before booking…read morewith her since it looks like she has a track record of asking for hefty deposits and not returning them when a service isn't performed (per the other review on her page). I booked her services for an anniversary dinner for my partner. During the booking process, she was super responsive (responses came in quickly, or she communicated and gave me a heads up if she needed a while to respond). She asked for a 50% deposit to confirm the service, which I sent in a timely manner (within 5 minutes of her sharing the deposit requirement). The day of the event she messaged me less than an hour before she was set to arrive saying that she got into an (alleged) car accident on her way to the venue and she was no longer able to cook for us that night. I, of course, was disappointed (and found it hard to believe). But she promised a refund (screenshots shown). I reached out to her the next day (tried to be courteous in the off-chance her car accident excuse was legitimate); however, she stopped responding to my subsequent messages (although it shows she had read them). She could have easily refunded me, as any legitimate business that didn't perform a promised service would have (I used Venmo to send the deposit, so a refund could have been instantaneous), but instead, Chef Ivory chose to not even communicate with me about the refund further. I've also reported her on the other platforms she provides services on (Thumbtack, Take a Chef) to give them a heads up of her business practices. It's sad that a really lovely vacation in Hawaii has turned into such a disappointment because of this incredibly shady incident.

The side dishes were could and congealed. The desert was a store bought pie thrown on a plate. No whip cream or ice cream accompanied. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Take out would be better. Horrible experience.

I just had the pleasure of dining in a friend's private birthday event and am so sad it's over! Absolutely incredible! I didn't realize food could taste that good. Who knew salads could be more than just boring lettuce!? I'm talking fresh watermelon, burrata, beets, grilled peaches, watermelon radishes, and balsamic. What!? The last time I ate something so colorful (willingly) was a bag of skittles. You have no idea. Un-freaking-believable. And then the actual dinner came. Bok choy, seared ahi, and some kind of buttery sauce that was made from angel's tears. Or maybe unicorn sweat? I don't know, but it was a smooth, silky realization that I have no skill in the kitchen. At least not in comparison. No matter what the occasion, I will forever hire RJ Gourmet Maui. Seriously. The best meal I've ever had...and I lived in France for a year. Just saying.

Hiram, Jordan, BRAVO!…read more My family (8 of us, with all very different tastes) have unanimously agreed that Hiram created for us one of the greatest meals each of us have ever eaten. The food however was not the only high point - Honu Cuisine is a package. It's Hiram's incredible ability to source the best and freshest ingredients, use his customer's menu choices to perfectly match those ingredients, and create a beautiful, artistic, and incredibly tasty meal. It's also about Hiram's carefully chosen "front of house" assistant. That's right, he comes with a partner. In our case we feel very lucky and honored for that front of house to be Jordan. He is a long-time resident of the island, a fruit and vegetable farmer, and an incredibly knowledgeable foodie and Maui host. Separately Hiram and Jordan would be spectacular, together they are magical. The meal was entertaining, stimulating, and delicious. Hiram brought everything from cookware to serving dishes along with his incredible ingredients, Jordan brought fresh flowers and entertainment. This meal is worth every penny - please make the best decision you'll make while in Maui - have Hiram cook for you! Ryan & Genvieve Schmidt, the Adams and the Brewers, Aloha.
