We were celebrating our anniversary at a beachfront condo in Wailea. My husband surprised me by arranging with Private Chefs Maui for a private sunset dinner on our lanai. What a memorable meal! John started us off with the most delicious lettuce wraps ever, followed by an equally delicious kale-mango salad (the honey roasted macadamias -yum!) He then prepared a delicious Mahi Mahi with fried rice for me, while my husband had lobster tail and oven roasted potatoes. All prepared, seasoned and served to perfection. There are not enough words to express how great it was having John and Diana come to our condo and prepare a meal on one of our last nights on Maui. We were on vacation with our adult children and three grandchildren. As fun as the little ones are, we wanted one adult night with awesome food but no work after the kids were in bed. John talked with me in advance about the menu and worked with our various dietary needs and wants. John and Diana prepared a round of delicious cocktails with Ocean Vodka and a shrimp and crab cake appetizer, which we enjoyed on our lanai. Then we moved indoors for dinner and they had set our table beautifully with greenery, candles and cloth napkins. The salad was fresh and healthy. The main course consisted of grilled beef filet and mahi mahi or grilled chicken and mahi mahi depending on guest, grilled asparagus and oven roasted potatoes. Yummy passion fruit pie with fresh whipped cream for dessert. It was by far our best meal on Maui (and various adults in our group ate at Merriman's, Mama's Fish House, Gannon's, Sarento's, Spago...lots of great restaurants). Having the meal expertly prepared allowed our family to kick back, relax and feel very specially treated with awesome food and atmosphere. Plus, John and Diana are just nice, nice people. When they left, the kitchen was entirely clean with some tasty leftovers in the fridge for us to enjoy the next day. Wish I had scheduled them during our first week so we would have had time to have them back a second time! Don't hesitate to book them - definitely a splurge but completely worth it! read more

What a great, personal, high quality experience!! Last week, we had John prepare two fantastic 4-course dinners for our family of six. Both meals were easily the most memorable dinners we had while visiting Maui. Every detail was meticulously planned and pleasing to both the eye and palate. We had John come the first night of our arrival, and what a great decision that was. Our teenage kids absolutely loved it. My wife and I raved over everything, and we were able to enjoy ourselves as we relaxed in our stunning Maui villa while John and his assistant did all the work. The fresh food, Maui onions, and just the right amount of heat in all the dishes...fantastic. The dessert was killer. When dinner concluded, we would have been really sad if we hadn't planned on John coming back again in a couple nights. Having his services twice in the same week...now that was a great decision! The second dinner was just as exquisite and even more relaxed. We were truly sad to say goodbye; it felt like saying goodbye to a close friend. My family and I would highly recommend John's services. Every detail was covered from dietary restrictions, to their familiarity with our villa at Ho'olei, to the candle for wife's desert . Interaction with John prior to the event was pleasant and timely. Chef John cooked a fabulous meal for our family to celebrate our fiftieth wedding anniversary and three birthdays. We had a wedding vow renewal at our wonderful oceanside villa in Puamana, and John and his associates served the delicious meal afterwards. It was a surprise to me. My husband selected Chef John after looking at a number of websites. He felt John offered the right combination of food, ambiance, and service that was elegant but in the casual nature of the occasion. We so much enjoyed his creative preparations of local foods. Everything he did was perfect! We did not want to go out to a restaurant after the ceremony, and having John prepare a private meal at the house enabled us to enjoy the rest of the evening and family conversation.
