We were trying to find something a bit different for our anniversary. So we came up with the idea of a private chef. We're usually not the types to splurge like this. We through caution to wind, LOL, and said why not? Kevin was took great to find what we wanted for our special meal. Once we made it to our condo we waited for Kevin to arrive. Kevin was ready to go when he walked through the door. We were excited to taste what he put on the plates and in the bowls. The delivery was first rate, posh even, yet still in Maui mode. The food was fantastic and I'm picky. I'm also a bit of an amateur chef myself, so I was watching how he moved in the kitchen. We loved having the leftovers. His back story is pretty cool too. Could not possibly have been better. We had a very large family group, so options are kind of limited. Wrangle all of our grandkids into cars to go to a restaurant every night? No thank you. Trade off cooking duties, thereby ruining 1-2 days of each family unit's vacation? Kill me now. Farm to Fridge, though? If you are on the fence about hiring a chef, go ahead and jump over, Chef Kevin and his staff created such an amazing experience for us. We traveled to Maui with our family and were on the fence ourselves. We had a large group - 9 adults and 8 younger children (although I don't believe it matters what size your group is). During our stay on Maui, we went out to several very nice restaurants and none of them were even close to matching this experience. The food and experience were absolutely amazing! We stayed in a condo which offered a simple kitchen (nothing special) and they were able to both utilize what was there and bring in the necessary items to create a fantastic experience. It was completely stress free, we had amazing leftovers and the place was left as though they were never there. One of the most amazing aspects was the meal they prepared for the children. They loved it and were completely entertained throughout. Honestly, if you are remotely considering an experience like this, I can not communicate more strongly that you must do it. His ability to craft a fine-dining experience in our rental's randomly-stocked kitchen was beyond impressive and is a testament to the planning, care, and preparation Chef Kevin and his team put into their events. Chef Kevin called me in advance to work to design the perfect farm-to-table menu and experience (focused on local, fresh ingredients) and was flexible and accommodating when it came to scheduling and our budget. We worked with Kevin for a dinner following our elopement ceremony this August and our families are STILL raving about the dinner. From our first call, Kevin was so kind and eager to make our evening as special as possible (and it was!). The food was absolutely incredible -- so fresh and flavorful (and all gluten-free for the celiacs in our group). We were fighting over the leftovers! Kevin's servers were extremely friendly and professional. Kevin also helped coordinate rentals and put us in touch with Ed at Wailea Wine for wine pairings. We had such an amazing experience having Kevin come into our home and cook us a fabulous, private meal. He planned out a wonderful dinner, using local veggies and fish. He planned the meal with me and catered to our restrictions. He even made chicken nuggets for the youngest with a homemade mango bbq sauce, that we all ended up sampling. The kids claimed it was the best chicken nuggets they've ever had , they were very good! We caught fish the day before and Kevin graciously added it to the menu, which was very short notice. Everything was amazing, it was truly the best meal all of us have ever had, and in the comfort of our home! He brought a wonderful helper, Sam, and they both made sure all our needs were taken care of, to filling our water glasses, providing wine, setting a gorgeous table, cleaning the glass on our door and lowering our shades on the porch when the sun started to set. He thought of everything to make sure we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Kevin even took the time to give my MIL pointers on how to cook fish. Wow. Way exceeded my expectations. I was hesitant about hiring any sort of professional food services for my trip as this is not a luxury my family and I usually spring for. However, since we were traveling with my brother's family as well, we had quite a big group and it seemed like it might be a worthwhile arrangement. Kevin was extremely responsive on the phone. He responded quickly to my initial inquiry and then listened closely to my concerns when we connected. He was prompt with his delivery, and everything was as we discussed. One of my nephews even has a gluten allergy, and Kevin made sure that he could eat everything. The food was healthy and delicious. He packaged the meals in a way that made them convenient to take in the cooler to the beach. Overall, Kevin made our trip to Maui stress-free when it came to food. It's hard traveling with a big group (especially with kids!), and we thought it would be hard to find restaurants that could accommodate us throughout our vacation. All I can say is Wow!! Chef Kevin and his team created such an amazing menu for my bridal shower. Everything was so well thought out and beyond fresh and delicious. What an amazing experience! Kevin came to cook for my family and I to celebrate my birthday. To say he went above and beyond would be an understatement. From the table setting to dessert, everything was a hit. We started with appetizers of poke (so fresh and so delicious) and crostini's. We requested surf and turf and both the meat and the fish were cooked to perfection. He accompanied the main with some seriously addicting puréed Molokai sweet potatoes and sautéed veggies. We were all fighting over the leftovers the next two days. Which was another great thing, Kevin left us with so much amazing food that we got to enjoy after he left. He had prepared a delicious dessert of strawberry short cake but went even further to get the most amazing birthday cake from a friend who specializes in wedding cakes last minute (even more leftovers to fight over).
