The food was fantastic and I'm picky. I'm also a bit of an amateur chef myself, so I was watching how he moved in the kitchen. We loved having the leftovers. His back story is pretty cool too. Kevin and Courtney, the owners, were very friendly, helpful, creative, and cooperative, so they were easy to work with. But not only were they great, the food they provided was spectacular -- really fresh and tasty and sophisticated! We had a number of different requirements for our family members -- gluten free, vegan, and big carbo loaders -- and Kevin and Courtney provided delicious meals for them all. Helpings were enormous! And they were really flexible about timing and menus! For New Years eve we had amazing sashimi, coconut shrimp, crab cakes, chicken piccata, huge salad, spring rolls and delicious homemade desserts. When they walked in with their food the whole family oohed and aahed and couldn't wait to dig in. It was so great to not cook for 9 people and to know that we were having a great dinner in Maui, especially since restaurants are overbooked and overpriced and not as much fun as hanging out at home. We really recommend them highly! Very great find in Maui. !!!!

Hiram, Jordan, BRAVO!…read more My family (8 of us, with all very different tastes) have unanimously agreed that Hiram created for us one of the greatest meals each of us have ever eaten. The food however was not the only high point - Honu Cuisine is a package. It's Hiram's incredible ability to source the best and freshest ingredients, use his customer's menu choices to perfectly match those ingredients, and create a beautiful, artistic, and incredibly tasty meal. It's also about Hiram's carefully chosen "front of house" assistant. That's right, he comes with a partner. In our case we feel very lucky and honored for that front of house to be Jordan. He is a long-time resident of the island, a fruit and vegetable farmer, and an incredibly knowledgeable foodie and Maui host. Separately Hiram and Jordan would be spectacular, together they are magical. The meal was entertaining, stimulating, and delicious. Hiram brought everything from cookware to serving dishes along with his incredible ingredients, Jordan brought fresh flowers and entertainment. This meal is worth every penny - please make the best decision you'll make while in Maui - have Hiram cook for you! Ryan & Genvieve Schmidt, the Adams and the Brewers, Aloha.

I just had the pleasure of dining in a friend's private birthday event and am so sad it's over! Absolutely incredible! I didn't realize food could taste that good. Who knew salads could be more than just boring lettuce!? I'm talking fresh watermelon, burrata, beets, grilled peaches, watermelon radishes, and balsamic. What!? The last time I ate something so colorful (willingly) was a bag of skittles. You have no idea. Un-freaking-believable. And then the actual dinner came. Bok choy, seared ahi, and some kind of buttery sauce that was made from angel's tears. Or maybe unicorn sweat? I don't know, but it was a smooth, silky realization that I have no skill in the kitchen. At least not in comparison. No matter what the occasion, I will forever hire RJ Gourmet Maui. Seriously. The best meal I've ever had...and I lived in France for a year. Just saying.

Lunch was fresh pineapple fried rice with tofu, fresh broccoli with sesame seeds and almonds and a little butter, local zucchini boats filled with seitan and mozzarella cheese on top, and roasted sweet potatoes. Hawaiian corn on the cob (non-GMO, so smaller and sweeter -- I devoured it!) was served. Dessert was local fresh fruit consisting of apple banana slices, strawberry papaya, & kumquats, mixed with grapes and strawberries and homamade banana bread. This was served with homemade sorbet and local macadamia nut ice cream. Absolutely delicious! Lunch was served quickly (15 minutes early) and the kitchen was clean when she left.
