IMHO Cafe Jai shares a spot in the small food court at Whaler's Village. Hubby wanted a snack even though we had a special private dining event in less than 3 hours! He opted for a cheeseburger which came with a small side of pasta salad, and small side of fruit. It totally hit the spot! I think it cost $14, which we thought was a good deal, considering the high food prices in Maui. We'll definitely remember this spot! read more

I always order the steak plate and I drive all the way here just for it!! The cook is very talented and he always shows he is happy to go an extra mile to please the customers. The food comes perfectly done! Besides that, the crew is so friendly at all times! Appreciate you all :) read more

Get the Maui Wowie chicken! This place is a fairly undiscovered gem in Whaler's Village. Get a pie too! So good!!!!!

I stumbled upon Cafe Jai in the food court of Whalers Village (first level) and decided to try their breakfast burrito. The burrito was really good and filling! My only complaint is the burrito had too much chipotle mayo in it for me, if I order again I'll ask for the sauce on the side. I'd recommend cafe jai to anyone looking for a less expensive, quick meal for under $15. read more

I love finding these small gems! This place stands out in its small food court. The breakfast burritos were fantastic and reasonably priced. But the star is their salsa. So delicious I went back the next day as well. Also the banana chocolate chip bread was quite the treat. read more

Pleasantly surprised with how tender and good the Huli Huli chicken as it was falling off the bone. Excited to come back and try more on the menu next time. It was in a good court and we easily found a table for all 4 of us. read more

Food was excellent. Good prices for what you get. We took the food back to our condo. Loved everything we ordered.

The chicken Caesar wrap is to die for! Probably the best I've ever had. Food was quick and delicious and that's all that matters.

Extremely unprofessional and rude owner and staff. Dishes lacking flavor and undercooked. Available tables are food covered and dirty. Would not recommend to local or visiting familie. read more

Standard. Food was ok, not bad, but presentation could've been better. I get it's not a fancy restaurant but maybe give my food the illusion that it looks big lol. The shrimp on my plate lunch looked so wimpy. Haha I totally wouldn't have mind if it was in a smaller plate packed with all the other stuff. read more

One of the best burgers I've ever had! So juicy and so much flavor. The staff was super friendly too. It came with pasta, salad, and fresh fruit, so good! read more

We came here after eating at all the popular restaurants in Whaler's village. All we wanted was decent food without the tourist prices. After reading the reviews, we were hesitant but decided to give Cafe Jai a try. We had their teriyaki salmon. Not the best t but very decent. Not overcooked and not overly salty. We also tried the huihui chicken. Very tender and not overly salty. Overall, their food was very good without the fancy decor or prices. More importantly, you don't need to order a drink to buy their food as they don't have happy hours read more

Food is okay nothing special. The service is okay as well and I believe the owner was the one making the food. I would not make a special trip to eat here but then again there are not too many options. read more

We love Jai AND his ono breakfast grindz!! All the crew are super friendly and the servings generous.

I came here with my son and they had the The kindest people working there plus the best menu in the food court. Highly recommend:))

Visiting Hawaii you would think that every business would have steamed rice down perfectly. You would be very wrong. I ordered the stir fry Kung Pao chicken. I realize that this is tourist land but for $17.99 at least it should be a decent meal. The rice was inedible. It was so dry and crunchy I couldn't possibly eat it. The Kung Pao chicken was very skimpy on the chicken and the sauce so spicy that I couldn't finish the vegetables. I know I'll be suffering tomorrow. Save your money and eat elsewhere. read more

The boys working the kitchen are hilarious and make one hell of a sandwich. Recommend 1000%

I was disappointed with the food at Café Jai in Whaler's Village .... I ordered the chicken club sandwich with all fruit (instead of fruit and coleslaw)... As you can see in the picture the sandwich is wrapped in super cheap white bread, and the fruit was mediocre - - just green melon... The flavor of the sandwich was pretty good, and the girls at the front taking orders had great attitudes .... So, 3 stars .... read more

Was super pleasantly surprised by how flippin good the smash burger was. My husband has been trying burgers all over the island and this was the winner. DELICIOUS! And so deceiving because it's in a food court at Whaler's. Feel like we found a hidden gem and will come back each time we're on vacay. Highly, highly recommend. Both dudes that tried it gave it a 10 out of 10. read more

Cafe Jai - Here's his menu - Caterers Near Me - Lahaina, Hawaii

Personable young chef catered a members lunch at Impact Hub. I was only disappointed that I couldn't snag one of each featured bowl; there was nothing left over. Everything looked beautiful. I had the miso salmon on fried rice and it was excellent. Portion size was larger than it first appeared due to the depth of the bowl. Jai grew up in Kailua-Kona and after graduating from Kamehameha Schools Kapalama, he completed the KCC Culinary Program. He worked for other caterers for 4 years and is now starting his own business. His tag line is "Farm Fresh & Local Gourmet Lunch Catering for your Business or Special Event" The menus I saw offer upscale sandwiches ($12) and entree bowls ($16) for delivery, minimum 10 people. Delivery charge $10. Large bowl of taro/sweet potato chips and cookies available as well. The entree was served in a water resistant compostable bowl, nice ! Was it perfect? I think the bowl is priced at the high end but I guess you factor in the convenience factor. I would have liked one more item in the bowl-- there were some small diced vegetables in the fried rice but an additional small portion of a whole vegetable like green beans etc would have been welcomed. I'd also like to see a low-fat vegan option. I'd totally hire this guy for catering. He's got a really nice positive upbeat energy and seems dedicated to excellence. read more

I have to say the lunch bowls were amazing! Braised short rib with Truffle Mash potatoe had soooo much flavor and the softest meat ever. Now the Seared Ahi over Rice was full of flavor with some special seasonings. The lunch bowls were delivered warm and still toasty ! I can't wait to try the other dishes. read more

Awesome cafe. Awesome owner and staff. Incredible food at a great price. Highly recommend.

We had an ordering error today, our fault for not being explicit, and they were so nice. Remade the order in the manner my almost 16 year old should have ordered it to begin with. There's mustard on the grilled ham and cheese?! It was so good, btw. I ate some of the mustard "contaminated" one. So silly. IMO, really good grilled ham and cheese, which I do appreciate. Anyway, definitely recommend based on our experience. read more
