Good local self-serve yogurt shop in Larkspur that has many flavor options: six flavors and untold toppings including nuts, berries, sugar cereals, brownie bites and mochi. Cute ski decor, a gratis book with the full history of the town by the counter, and an adorable town mural, and importantly a customer bathroom. The place is spotlessly clean. It was empty in the late afternoon I came it, but come during the school year on a nice day and it will be bombarded with local families: a real afterschool hot spot. My medium sized yogurt and berries came to $13, but on reflection, I suppose I'm not surprised that is the going rate for fro-yo in Marin. They offer tiny dixie cups and free water, but I wish they were bigger --it can be a challenge to drink water through a thimble. read more

Extremely overpriced and the manager (?) knows it. Okay, I get it - Marin prices for Marin rent. When paying ($15+ for a tiny cup and an almost full one), I used my watch to touch and add my card payment. I didn't add a tip, but he did. He did nothing except keep his shop clean. Not tip worthy seeing that it's self serve froyo and it's rude to presume otherwise. Chopped almonds tasted old. Other than that, yogurt and toppings are fine. Which is a very low bar. Flat out the best frozen yogurt in Marin and quite possibly the entire bay area. The texture is creamy and smooth with robust flavor - the cake batter yogurt is spectacular. And that hot fudge! It's also the best in the bay area (so many places just use chocolate sauce - this is HOT FUDGE!) If you like crave legit froyo the way it used to be when it was in its heyday then this is literally the ONLY spot to get it. I'll happily pay a bit more for this because, to reiterate, I can't get it anywhere else and I haven't been able to find anything close to this good in the Bay Area in years. If you want to whine about the price, I have two tips for you: 1- you are not being forced to fill up the entire cup which is large, and 2, remind yourself that this is Marin for blips sakes and this is market rate, it's not outlandish compared to the competition. Everything is more expensive so don't trash a local business just because you remember something being cheaper 3 decades ago and can't accept reality. Ask yourself where else can I go to get frozen yogurt, much less froyo this good - go try watery flavorless Yogurtland (is there even one in Marin?), same price, inedible yogurt. BTW, we got 2 yogurts, mine with sprinkles and hot fudge and the other with cereal and several toppings for a TOTAL of $13.50. Both of us were full. So instead of squealing about price be thrilled and grateful that something this delicious exists at all, and it happens to be right in your neighborhood. I want to like Mag's, but it is ridiculously overpriced. A tiny portion of soft serve with a few toppings runs upwards of $8 to $9. That's crazy! For less than that, I could get an amazing Strauss Family Creamery soft serve at Pico, or a delicious ice cream at Lappert's in Sausalito. It boggles me how this place stays in business with the prices they charge. Not only that, but their soft serve is nothing at all to write home about. They haven't updated their flavors in years, and more often than not it comes out of the machine already melted, a puddle of melted soft serve for $9. read more

Frozen yogurt at "Mags Local Yogurt". I wonder if it is named after the street it is located on? -Magnolia Avenue? My first visit. I tried a sample, to see what I liked. My one (and only) taste was Euro Classic Tart. Eww, too sour! Unable to try any other flavors .. Worry not. I'm confident if you want a sugar buzz, it would be available in their chocolate or vanilla or banana or your raspberry whatever. Also, -there are lots of gummy bears, M&M's, Oreos. The best Frozen Yogurt spot in Larkspur without a doubt. Situated in the downtown area, it's the perfect place on a sunny day. The flavors here are delicious, and there's plenty of toppings to chose from: almond, strawberries (and other fruits), condensed milk, chocolate....the list goes on. My favorite thing about this place is that it had so much space inside. Definitely one of the most spacious FroYo spots I've ever been to. The guys who work here are nice and always down for a conversation, and that's always nice. Also, considering this place is in one of the wealthiest cities in the Bay Area, I'm very surprised by their prices, as they are cheaper than SF. The bowl of FroYo I got cost me a measly $4, and I packed it up with a bunch of other toppings. A very worthy spot to visit if you're in the area. Enjoy :) read more

This brand new frozen yogurt shop features self service, a couple tart flavors, a few regular flavors, a gelato, and a sorbet. The tart flavors (regular, pomegranate) were excellent; sour and substantial tasting. The chocolate and vanilla were provisioned by Dreyer's and so soft and sweet that J was unsure if he was eating fro-yo or soft-serve. Since the products are sourced by different vendors, it would be nice if the signage identified the source. Toppings are spread out in different parts of the shop. One section has cereals and nuts. Another has fruits and jellied balls. Candies are elsewhere, and sauces (i.e. hot fudge, hot caramel) were up near the register. There's a few chairs and tables to eat on-site and a stamp that'll get you one free with every 10 purchased. Price was 47 cents an ounce which made for some pretty pricy cupfuls. I didn't love their non-tart yogurt or selections the way I adore those of Yogurtland but since this place is a lot closer I'll likely be showing up again soon for some more tarty mouthfuls. read more

OMG - the best suggestion Yelp has given me and my brother for this year! We came here after our hike (yes, we're those people that like to reward / regain what we lost after exercising!) The place had a homey feel... neighborhood spot. Families were gathered outside and it was just welcoming. They have tasting mini cups by the counter... I had the nutella and I was sold. It was just deliciously creamy. The available toppings were out of this world! They had everything and it was a bit overwhelming to figure out what to put. Plus, we didn't know that they had hot fudge and caramel and whipped creamy on the side of the cashier! We're already planning a comeback. I love coming here on a hot day even tho I probably should be drinking a green drink from juice alley, but hey everyone has their weaknesses right!? Anyways, mag's has an excellent variety of flavors and toppings. The place is always clean and usually has kids around, which is always fun to see. Reminds me of when I was young and so excited to get an ice cream! They also tend to have local teens working here, which I think is great! I have only had a couple experiences here where the employees seemed more interested in their phones then me, but not recently. My only complaint would be that that sometimes the yogurt is too soft and by the time I get outside it's already melting in the cup. Used to come here all the time. However, The yogurt has been way too soft and melty since re opening. Also, would be great if a single employee ever knew whether the yogurt was NF, LF or Full fat. The yogurt is good and I love that they use all local products. The space is clean and soothing. Service is indifferent, but that's not surprising since most of the staff are teenagers. I just moved to Marin from orange county, where there is a froyo shop every block. I am desperate for a good fro yo and tried mags today. I'm used to having this frozen delight 2 to 3 times a week at a few different shops so I kind of consider myself an expert. My favorite flavors are Caramell and chocolate. I had to go with vanilla at megs and then added my usual toasted almonds a little hot fudge and a little pot of Caramell. My main complaint is that it was too soft... So soft that my toppings immediately made the whole thing a squishy mess. I wish they froze it a little bit colder. The hot Caramell tasted medicinal. The hot fudge was good. I was surprised that the amount of yogurt that I usually pay 5 to 6 dollars for cost nine dollars at mags, but I guess everything is more expensive up here even though I am coming from an equally expensive area of Laguna Beach. I will keep on searching for the perfect yogurt to satisfy my Jones. I also wish that they posted the amount of calories per ounce... It didn't tasteVery rich but calories can be sneaky. The flavors are so unique and yummy! I loved the kiwi strawberry and cranberry flavors. I wasn't a huge fan of the ginger lemon - it had too much ginger. My boyfriend was loving the chocolate and oatmeal cookie! All flavors I have tried have just the right about of sweetness and flavor! I also love the assortment of toppings. I loved the granola mixed with my fruity toppings and froyo. Delicious. My boyfriend and I cannot get enough of Mag's and we had to go two days in a row to satisfy our cravings. They have simple good tart yogurt, If you'd like other fixings, you have a lot of good choices but I just want a bit of tart yogurt. Since it's a self serve place, I can get my "bit" of froyo too. The location is nice and I easily found parking. The facility was very clean and to people working there we really nice. Chocolate chip cookies from the topping bar were too good to be true and are no longer, replaced by the generic cookie dough and dense brownie-like bits, one of which I not-so-discretely spit out because it was gross. Creamy yogurt in a very clean space, still 0.55/oz, but less excited about the value. Many toppings are in those awful upright dispensers that either crush it to bits or dump far more than you wanted. A few flavors on the most recent visit weren't chilled enough. We LOVE Mag's Local Yogurt!!! (How Yelp* knew that I would be in a position to write a review I am not clear...) Mag's should be a franchise. I am familiar enough with the product and distribution of yogurt recipes on the open market, but, if quality control were an options they actually have one of the top three best yogurt products in the vicinity IMHO. We are in the San Francisco Bay Area where we have many desert and snack options available, many healthy. However, it is quite obvious that Frozen Yogurt as a category has come back overall, yet, it a very different from its grandparent-self, such as College Park, now, exclusively in Berkeley, California, AFAIK as they used to have a second outlet in Walnut Creek, a few miles away. The new family of yogurt is clearly marked as full of good bacteria which fulfills our stomach's needs. It tends to be tart,at least as a base, with flavorings added to imitate other flavored yogurts and ice creams. The other tendency of the New Yogurt is a more icy texture, less creamy than ice cream and other versions of frozen yogurt. Mag's does the best of both worlds imho. Fraiche Yogurt on Fillmore Street in San Francisco is also one of the top three. However, I have never had a very positive experience interacting with the staff: always seem a bit pushy and not investing in me. I found there Stanford University branch seemingly comparable to any other vendor serving the vertical University market, so no negative impression. Fraiche and Mag's are similar in texture. Somehow they have been able to avoid the icy outcome their health-centric competitors cannot avoid or choose. The icy ones are also unique in that they focus on ingredients to mix coarsely with the white, tart yogurt: not a blend to subdue the tartness with a given familiar or surprise flavor. To also highlight a brand, Easy Breezy, on Irving Street, in San Francisco, is probably the best of both the creamy and icy worlds under one roof: each component, more or less fat content, seems to dictate either extreme. But Mag's as a BRAND is the best of all in a manner of speaking: the color scheme; the layout and design; the staff being young people within the local community with a vibrant and appealing approach, adds to a more traditional overall experience. Larkspur being a small close-knit community, the place, product, awning and benches outside, parking usually readily available (they close at 9 PM,) make for a very welcoming and warm experience. Why 4 stars: We have been disappointed with the less- firm consistency the last three or four times we have arrived "late in the day". I contacted the proprietor about this who stated it was a known issue and repairs were coming very soon - the next day, actually. Well, since then, we have had the same issue occur TWICE. read more

So happy this is here! Strangely enough there are no frozen yogurt shops in Corte Madera, and the next nearest is Berry Bliss in Larkspur (which I did not have a good experience at). The location is fantastic, right on the main strip, and because of the many nearby restaurants Mag's can get quite crowded. The late hours (open until 9!) are an even greater bonus. The frozen yogurt and toppings are self-serve, and reasonably priced according to Marin County standards. My preference is always plain tart, and as each froyo shop has their own kind, it's always a risk- thankfully Mag's was just the perfect mix of sweet and tart! read more

Teen hang out with teens working there and putting their butts on the counter. I'm not kidding. Went in there when things were dead and the guy working the counter was sitting on it. Professional. This is a self serve frozen yogurt places you get your container and after you put your toppings on and choose your yogurt, they weigh it and charge you. I only write that as a direction since the kid did not tell us and the places we usually go they do all of that for you. Families do come here and on hot days the place is packed. Why? I'm not sure, their frozen yogurt is not organic nor did I see any vegan options nor is it any better then what you get fro the store. This place would have gotten a better review if it was not for the person sitting on the counter. That really grossed me out. read more
