The first point of contact was Joan in Marketing; she was and remains compassionate, honest and has provided many resources for me and my family. She knew from day one that we would not be able to afford permanent residence, and she has assisted with everything from referrals to an elder law firm to placement agencies, as well as providing support and encouragement. My mom's stay at Aegis ended after Thanksgiving, and Joan has still been in contact with me to follow up on my mom's care. The staff: I really doubt there's a better staff anywhere. From the team at the concierge desk (Isumi, Bob, Paul, Ailie), to dining (Sarah, Jenn, Linda,...) to the wonderful care team (Democracy!! Tierra, Monique, Sharon, Kristen, Spencer, Anna, Cole, Alex,.... the list is endless!) and the life enrichment team (Susan! Vince!) and the security team, who I saw daily at 6 am. My mom was in such good hands, and it was plain to see that everyone was truly compassionate, that this was not just a job, but they really care and are compensated well for their hard work. The building is gorgeous, but this is mainly for the families to enjoy. The residents of course love being in such a beautiful home with all these amazing features (the theater! the belfry!), but what really counts is the care. After touring several other assisted living facilities, it was quite plain to see the difference. The Aegis staff truly cares. Yes, they're running a business, but they do not have itchy fingers and dollar signs in their eyes when meeting with you to discuss potential care costs, unlike several other well known assisted living facilities that I won't name. The cost is unfortunate as this really is unattainable for most, but I would strongly recommend this facility to anyone looking for the best place for a family member needing care.

My mother never consistently got the care we were promised (e.g., got one shower per month vs. 3 per week in the plan, almost never wearing her compression socks vs. paying to have these on each day). As well, as someone with dementia, she mostly sat alone in her room. During the sales process we were told how skilled the staff were engaging with dementia residents. We didn't see that after moving in, so would complain, we'd see temporary improvement, but always short lived. Staff turnover is high. There were many really great people that provided good care, but were quickly gone. Ultimately we moved her to an adult family home which was light years better and a fraction of the cost.

He's kept me on my feet and going. I've also had nothing but positive experiences with the receptionist; whether scheduling, rescheduling, or interactions. Since I take personal responsibility for ensuring my appointments are accurate I've only had one or two miscues on scheduling over ten years; usually due to my error. In both instances Dr. Cavanaugh and his receptionist were very forgiving; and accommodating as much as possible in rescheduling. Now that the scheduling system is automated with an email reminder I haven't missed or mixed up an appointment date.

We were overwhelmed and trying to make the right call for our parents. The staff didn't just know our mother's name, they knew her. Her routines, what calmed her, how to reach her on the hard days. The sundowning was something our family had struggled with for a long time, and watching them handle those moments with such patience was a relief we didn't know we needed. Our father received that same level of thoughtful, personalized attention through his stroke recovery. Low staff turnover, consistent communication was really important to us and Langland House was so reliable. It was the perfect environment that made my parents feel like they were still at home, rather than a facility. Both my sister and my brother-in-law had to be moved to the Langland House. My sister had an early…read morestages of dementia and my brother-in-law was in advanced state of Parkinson's. The decision had to be made on a very short notice and I must say, Langland House provided them an excellent care. The staff is amazing and not only made the residents comfortable but made them feel at home. Not only the staff constantly had their eye on the residents but were watchful for their safety and comfort. Based on what I observed with all the residents everyone enjoyed the food and the type of care each one needed. Both received their medications on time, the medications were ordered every month on a very easy to track system so the family did not have to worry and run-around in panic at the last minute. Staff took each resident for a walk either outside or made them walk inside as part of a daily routine. Langland House is nicely designed with lots of windows facing east, west and south. The light into the common areas and the bedrooms and high ceilings brought a very peaceful setting / feeling not only for the residents but anyone of the family visiting the facility. I would highly recommend considering this Langland House facility on Densmore Ave N in Seattle for any family member if their family member is in need for such a facility.

He's warm, patient, thorough, and always made us feel like he had plenty of time to discuss our various issues. He treated us respectfully, even when our views didn't completely align, and I never felt like he would push a course of treatment on us that we didn't want. The specialists he referred us to were great as well, from chiropractor to oncologist. Dr. Grote takes a holistic approach toward health and doesn't seem over-eager to prescribe medications, as some doctors do. For example, when my daughter had a mild ear infection that wasn't bothering her, he recommended that we wait and see and didn't suggest antibiotics right off. The ear infection was soon gone without having caused my daughter any distress. He is also familiar with herbs and prescribed some to us that were quite helpful. And to top it off, my preschooler was comfortable with him, which at the time, was really saying something! Now if only I could find a doctor like him in Vancouver . . .

We saw him for two years for a number of issues, and finally we both had complaints serious enough that we left. Among them a painful misdiagnosis (and an easy one -- another doctor diagnosed it correctly from a verbal description); an Rx for an expensive drug when a cheap generic was available; and when I complained that the office staff wasn't treating me well, he scolded me rather than ask what they could do better, at a time when he knew I was in deep grief from the loss of a loved one. The true test of a doctor and his office staff is not how he treats you when everything is good, when you are feeling great, and when you can easily stand to be put on hold for five or more minutes at a time, but when things are hard, when you're in pain, and when you're suffering a loss. Dr. Grote, if you read this, know that I liked you personally, and it wasn't just the one thing, but a collection of problems, including the misdiagnosis which caused one of us months of pain. The first call was easy - I called, they asked me a list of questions to avoid having to make an appointment (saving us all time and money). I 'passed' so we just scheduled the actual colonoscopy. They sent me all the info I needed and were very helpful. Once at the appointment (at Polyclinic Broadway), staff was kind and efficient. Dr. Tung came in and chatted with me, answering any questions I had. He was calm, gregarious, and put me at ease. In no time, I was in the procedure drifting off to sleep. After I came out of it, Dr. Tung came directly in, told me the results (all clear), and answered my follow up questions. I then went home and ate and took a nap. All in all, a fine experience. Dr. Tung was professional, kind, and I highly recommend him for a colonoscopy.

Dr. Y would always call me after hours to answer my questions and would ensure I was in a private place to talk. Dr. Y treated me for my migraines, feminine issues, and chronic sinusitis. He's such a geniune and caring person, it breaks my heart to even consider seeing someone new in Los Angeles. I also love Swedish Physicians Group. Easy to get a same day appointment in the office, even if Dr. Y isn't available. The Magnolia office is located near a Bartell's as well so that makes everything easy. The lab at the office is as painless as it can get when it comes to shots and getting your blood drawn. Bonus: Polyclinic and Swedish have synced their medical records so Dr. Y could easily see the prescriptions from my Polyclinic dermatologist.

After researching many facilities, we chose Park Ridge based on its high ratings and preferable North Seattle location, closer to family who would be supporting her. It's not much on the outside -- wedged between an auto body shop and a taco truck, on a busy street corner -- but you shouldn't judge this book by its cover. The staff at Park Ridge are very attentive and caring, including doctors, social workers, nurses, therapists, etc. My mother is gluten-free and struggled for a week or so to get her diet right -- the food manager finally took over her meal preparations himself, so that he could personally guarantee that her meals were free of allergens. Therapists walked her across the street to QFC to buy snacks, and helped her get back on her feet. She recently checked out about a month ahead of schedule, and is doing great. No long-term care facility is a particularly happy place, or someplace you want to find yourself for an extended period of time. But if you have a loved one who needs care, you'll get a high quality of service at Park Ridge.

It was a nightmare dealing with them and it shortened his last days, making them miserable. I will never forgive these people. It's all about the $ with them!
