I have been seeing her since Dec '10 somewhat regularly. Dr Lindsay has put me on a path to recovery from my issues in a way that none of my other doctors ever have (I have had neck pain for 20 years that was relieved after the first visit- it still comes back but the frequency is dramatically decreased). She has a very gentle touch but dramatic results. I really don't know how she does it or how to explain it to other people. After having chiro's twist your body unnaturally into painful positions what she does is incredibly subtle. I can do things now that I haven't been able to do in a long time, and without injuring myself every time. I swear she is magic... I also sent my teenaged son to her for curvature in his back and stiffness in his hips (he couldn't bend over at the waist). After one visit he increased his mobility significantly and grew an inch! He has seen her a handful of times- his physique is completely different- and normal now. He thinks she is magic too... She is a very kind person, a great listener, amazing healer, and fosterer of holistic care. She makes great referrals to other doctors when she believes it may benefit your overall health. She recommended three treatments in one week, and for all of them I was on the table 45 minutes or longer (I believe one was an hour and a half). When I inquired as to the ideal frequency of visits I was told that coming in as often as possible is best. After the third visit, my health crashed with incapacitating symptoms of overexertion. I also began having significant breathing trouble from an ongoing throat issue that Dr. Steinecker had been fully briefed on in our first meeting. After several hours of throat wheezing with each breath I made contact with Dr. Steinecker, calmly communicated what was happening, and was advised to "talk myself down" and counseling was the recommended treatment. I now see a different cranial osteopath. The throat/breathing issue also happened the day after my second treatment from him. Rather than assuming psychological origin, he made various physiological recommendations that relieved the situation and has since identified the problem. Also, he finds that half an hour every 2-3 weeks is plenty and is extremely cautious about over-treating any of his patients. I solicited a third opinion from another cranial osteopath who agreed the treatment I received from Steinecker was far more than *any* person ought to be given at once, let alone someone in my state. Devorah is a humorous, easy-going, compassionate doctor with skilled hands and significant ability to sense exactly what manipulation is called for and where in order to alleviate pain and other issues. It's mind-blowing, and if that's all you need then you may well have a satisfying experience as her patient. However I required a higher degree of sensitivity to my body's limitations and a more scientific approach than immediately passing off confounding issues as psychological problems. I was uncomfortable with the treatment at times, and did not feel it was appropriate. I switched to a physical therapy office and began seeing results much faster, and now I'm largely pain free. "You mean I pay even MORE money on top of what I'm already paying for insurance?" I looked into it further both as a concept and as something that had been done successfully on the Eastside. At $100 per month, I decided to give it a try. She said I could phone, text, or email her any day at any time. I didn't believe it at first. But sure enough, I've texted her at night on weekends and she has responded in just a few minutes. Amazing! I don't make a habit of it because Dr. Acher has to live a life, too. My first in-office appointment wasn't even an annual physical, but she talked to me for about 40 minutes. Nothing was hurried. I never felt as if she had to rush to the next patient. I couldn't believe it. For me $8 per day is worth it. I have direct access to my GP. I feel heard and attended to.
