He's warm, patient, thorough, and always made us feel like he had plenty of time to discuss our various issues. He treated us respectfully, even when our views didn't completely align, and I never felt like he would push a course of treatment on us that we didn't want. The specialists he referred us to were great as well, from chiropractor to oncologist. Dr. Grote takes a holistic approach toward health and doesn't seem over-eager to prescribe medications, as some doctors do. For example, when my daughter had a mild ear infection that wasn't bothering her, he recommended that we wait and see and didn't suggest antibiotics right off. The ear infection was soon gone without having caused my daughter any distress. He is also familiar with herbs and prescribed some to us that were quite helpful. And to top it off, my preschooler was comfortable with him, which at the time, was really saying something! Now if only I could find a doctor like him in Vancouver . . .

Dr. Grote is a really sweet, caring man, and he did some good things for my husband and I for which…read moreI commend him, but he also failed us in some ways we found unacceptable. We saw him for two years for a number of issues, and finally we both had complaints serious enough that we left. Among them a painful misdiagnosis (and an easy one -- another doctor diagnosed it correctly from a verbal description); an Rx for an expensive drug when a cheap generic was available; and when I complained that the office staff wasn't treating me well, he scolded me rather than ask what they could do better, at a time when he knew I was in deep grief from the loss of a loved one. The true test of a doctor and his office staff is not how he treats you when everything is good, when you are feeling great, and when you can easily stand to be put on hold for five or more minutes at a time, but when things are hard, when you're in pain, and when you're suffering a loss. Dr. Grote, if you read this, know that I liked you personally, and it wasn't just the one thing, but a collection of problems, including the misdiagnosis which caused one of us months of pain. I wish you the best and I hope you seriously consider your staff issues. And, of course, if you had wanted to know the details of why we left, you could have asked. You didn't. Good luck.

After searching through the first page of my "in network" providers, I quickly got tired at the prospect of sifting through 50 more pages. So, I did what any reasonable person would do when it comes to finding a doc...I closed my eyes, threw a dart and picked a name. On a serious note, Dr. Friedmann was voted best doc in 2002, so I figured like wine, you can only get better with age. I went in, he did his thing, and I walked out. Overall, a pretty painless experience (aside from the blood draw). He's a nice, warm, fuzzy guy. Two thumbs up.

Lucky me, I ended up getting an appointment with Dr. Friedmann. He took so much time and care to try to understand the issue I was having despite my inability to articulate it. He made sure to understand my overall health, activity levels, recent travels and all of the other outside factors that might be causing my pain. I have recently felt so rushed by all of the doctors I've seen but Dr. Friedmann made me feel like I was his only patient. While we never got to the root cause of my pain, he made sure to rule out any possibly dangerous causes and provided me with a prescription and treatment plans to try. Then the most amazing thing happened...I got an unsolicited phone call from him 2 days after my appointment to see how I was doing!!! I'm feeling much better now thanks to Dr. Friedmann. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone in search of a smart, thoughtful and genuinely caring doctor.

(Again, this is a standard preventative that has had no issues billing at other providers). They had billed for a surgery when none was performed and other unique codes they must realize nets them the largest amount. When I called them, they said they would fix it and submit the correct CPT codes and they had made a mistake. Lo and behold, I receive a bill 10 days later for the wrong amounts they had submitted. This billing is a disaster at best, but most likely a fraudulent attempt at insurance overbilling. I would avoid this place like the dishonest, greedy practice they are.

The clinic is small, cozy, and full of plants and cool vintage decor. The exam rooms themselves have a cozy old school vibe as well. The waiting area is such a feast for the eyes that it almost makes me sad that there is never a wait to see the doctor! I could happily spend my whole day in there - especially since Laura is so darn friendly and such a warm and lovely conversationalist! Dr. Bliss is equally amicable.
