We came here for my birthday lunch a few days ago. I wanted some Italian food and here it was. The lady was very kind and attentive to our needs. We were seated right away and given the menus. The waters were refilled quickly as well. I tried the eggplant parm with spaghetti. The lady rolled some parm cheese on top as well. It was tasty. It looked as if it was very little but it sure was filling for lunch. My sister asked for a whiskey sour for me and the lady said she'd try (I don't think she was actually the bartender--she seemed to be the only one managing everything that day). When she found out it was my birthday, she said it'd be free for me. She would come over, check in with us and ask if everything is okay. We all exchanged warm smiles and she helped us take a few group photos. Before we left and were paying the bill, she gave us three each a small cup of espresso. Discovered this little gem on OpenTable. As soon as I walked in with my friend, the owner (manager maybe?) greeted us with so much energy. The place was pretty empty at the time, around 4o'clock, and as soon as we sat down, he started explaining their daily specials. My friend had the classic chicken parm and I had the penne alla vodka. I'm addicted to this place. If I was flexible enough to kick myself for passing this place for YEARS, I would! In a place like Flushing where it's filled with Asian cuisine, Magna is like a breathe of fresh Italian coastal air. They have, hands down, some of the most authentic food I've ever had in New York City even after 23 years of scrounging the 4-5 star Italian restaurants in all 5 boroughs. Their Spaghetti Carbonara warped me all the way back to my short but sweet trip to Rome...because finally someone like Fabio (who always takes great care of me) isn't using the wrong cheeses, or subbing pancetta for bacon or adding Chicken...or cream (?!). I can drink their Puttanesca and Amatriciana sauces! Magna genuinely cares about their food and preserving the roots of each of their regionalized dish...even during these difficult times. What a hidden gem this place is. The staff is attentive, kind, and accommodating. The atmosphere is very welcoming and open. It's a small place, but it feels very upscale and modern, with a rustic charm. The staff greets you when you walk in and makes you feel like an old friend. The menu is just the right size. There's not too much to choose from, and there's not too little. You are given options, but unlike some other places, the dishes are simple and not overdone and care is taken, given they are only making a few. The wine and cocktail list is extensive and fairly priced. The food is great. Everything was freshly prepared, and made to taste. There's no overbearing tastes in the dishes, and the way that they prepare them makes their natural goodness come through. My only regret is not saving room for dessert. The dishes are HUGE and you get a lot for the price. A value, a diamond in the rough, and a great place to have a quiet, relaxed and filling meal. read more

Here for dinner on a weekend for party of two. We ordered the eggplants appetizer, it was absolutely delicious. The server added freshly grounded black pepper to the dish, which adds great flavor and aroma to it. Then veal and fish were our main course. The seafood was pretty fresh, loved the fishhhhhhhhhh . This place is great!!! We came here for a post-graduation dinner with my girlfriend's family. They were able to accomodate our very large group (30+) with out the hassle that a lot of other resteraunts gave us when we were trying to book. The service was great considering how many people we had. The owner was very very friendly and had his staff operating at a great pace to make sure everyones needs were met and everyones glass had wine or water in it at all times. The restaurant itself looks great. I was very surprised on how aesthetically pleasing the resteraunt was. There was a very classic and rustic feel to the restaurant which made you feel like you were sitting in a very expensive restaurant. The quality and taste of the food also makes you feel like you are about to get a pretty hefty bill. For our large party, the bill was very moderately priced, a lot lower than what we had expected. Everything was absolutely delicious. From the salad (which i normally despise) was very good, down to the chicken marsala which was impeccable. Went here with my wife and sister in law. It was New Years so the place was empty. The calamari was a little too rubbery for me and the baked clams were slightly salty with the sauce. There salmon entree was good. Service was generally from the manager who was nice. Place was nice and quit and the parking was free for 3 hours. Staff was very friendly and courteous. And now for the food - we had calimari app and breaded tilapia and penne vodka for our entree. The penne and calimai were normal - GOOD. And the Tilapia was to die for!!! Get the breaded Tilapia special with spaghetti noodles! It was super tended with an amazing buttery cream sauce!!! Random searching for italian food nearby and we found Magna. This is my first visit and it will be my last too！The service is the worst I have ever encountered. The food is plentiful, but it is very bad. I think it used to be a very recommended place but not for now anymore, no wonder there have no walk in or even call in when we are dining in for whole night. Very disappoint since i visiting this store due to their good review on google and yelp. The food reflects the overall poor quality of everything to do with this restaurant even they have a nice environment (deserve 1 star). However, I was charged 6.50 for sparkling water and I was not warned about the price before I was served it. Additionally, there were barely any people there. OMG!! Where do I start?! My friend and I went there for the first time on Sunday, September 29th. 1) Fabio, both of them, are wonderful!!! So gracious, so friendly. The new waitress, from Palermo, was very sweet too! 2) The ambiance was nice, but I don't rate places on how it looks unless it's a pigsty...which this place IS NOT!!! 3) I'm not usually a fish person, but we ordered the clams oreganato and they were AMAZING!! 4) We both ordered different specials, the red snapper and the stuffed chicken. OMG halfway through my friend's red snapper IT WAS STILL STEAMING! No "fishy" aftertaste, cooked to perfection! The chicken I had was very good, also. 5) The desserts, WOW, the desserts! We splurged and got two desserts each, we had the Italian cheesecake, the strawberry pannacotta, the chocolate souffle, & the tiramisu. ALL of them...one was better than the next. Came today for a surprise birthday party. I honestly wouldn't have expected an Italian restaurant in the heart of Flushing but there it was! Staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. Fried calamari (a staple for me at ANY Italian restaurant) was fresh, delicious and generously portioned. Brought leftovers back and made a meal out of it! I ordered the Fettucine Bolognese for my kids to share and I got the Linguine Mare Monte ( shrimp pasta). You can tell the pasta is made from scratch! My linguine ended up being fettucine but I ate it anyway and while slightly bland, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Their parking lot wasn't open today during lunch time but luckily around 12:45pm there was plenty of parking. Would highly recommend this place! read more

Was going to Citi Field to see a Mets game and wanted to eat at one of the great Flushing Italian restaurants I've long heard about. This one was less than a miles from the stadium. Manga did not disappoint. Except for the sharp smell of cleanser we came at 5:30 before the crowds arrived, this place was a hidden gem. Food was fresh and flavors were classic. Loved the garlic and herb chicken and perfectly cooked veggies. Others had calamari which was excellent along with shellfish and pasta and pancetta and pasta. Wait staff could not be nicer. Prices were reasonable. Would definitely come again - better than many many Italian restaurants I've gone to in Jersey or NYC. read more

The service here is delightful. Our waiter was an Italian immigrant who was full of charm and always there when we needed him. The homemade pasta and sauces were really tasty. I'd recommend the pera (pear) salad - the pears poached in red wine and cinnamon were marvelous, and the bacon was that shatteringly crisp sort that I love. The dressing was so good that I mopped up with the bread, which was cheerfully refilled, albeit not that special. In fact, upgrading the bread would add that fifth star as everything else was so delicious. read more
