I am one that doesn't complain much but I really was disappointed when I took my grandkids to Magic Wand and probably will only order the tenderloin to go from this point on. The children's cheeseburger baskets had both hard buns and barely able to chew burgers on them.Very overcooked! The fries were not even close to being done. They were very busy so I understand the fries somewhat. However when the kind and attentive waitress set down my onion rings well that sealed the deal. 5 onion rings for 5 dollars! I must of had a puzzled look and asked is that the right size of rings I wanted the 5$ basket. She said yes they are sold by weight. What? Weight! This actually made me laugh! So disappointed. We drove from Fort Wayne because we love small town places with interesting history. Unpleasantly surprised by how unfriendly the staff was!! Ignored when we sat down and throughout the meal. The breaded pork tenderloin which was supposed to be good and "homemade" was definitely frozen with fake broiler marks and dry. Breaded mushrooms were frozen but cooked decently. Fries bland. My chicken sandwich was hradly edible and again, so dry. Our server asked if the sandwiches were OK, and we said just OK, and that was the end of that. I don't know what I was thinking when I gave Magic Wand a 4 star rating a little over four years ago!? They were and are deserving of 5 stars. The Magic Wand is a place stuck in time and that is what makes it so special. The staff are awesome, and the food is exactly what it should be for a diner like the Magic Wand. I am once again in the Churubusco area for work and it was lunch time. I decided I would run across the street and enjoy a breaded tenderloin. The inside has not changed one bit from the last time I was there. Counter service with stools and booths everywhere else. The clowns still dominate the shelves, and the exterior still reminds me of the 50's & 60's. I am a sucker for a breaded tenderloin and the Magic Wands are pretty good. It may not have been as big as it was a few years ago but it was still delicious. Maybe I will try other things on the menu. Small steps... small steps. Go on a day trip to Churubsco this weekend for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You won't be disappointed! read more

When I travel to Indiana for work this is one place I must stop!!! Mainly for their milkshakes of course. They have such delicious shakes that you can't go wrong with any flavor there. My go to is peanut butter but I just tried the pineapple milks shake and who knew it was going to be as delicious as it was! I meant crazy good. The staff have always been super friendly and they always ask how things are going and seem to care about all their customers. I personally was not a big fan of their burger when I tried it once so I think I'll stick to getting their shakes read more

My son and I passed this lil gem yesterday. Now our family goes to breakfast every Sunday. We love to find new places to go to. I've been here once before and loved the food then. Since my girls were house sitting and my hubs at work it was only my son and i this morning. There's clowns everywhere and just a cute lil diner. It wasn't busy when we were there. Well it being a holiday weekend didn't really surprise me. I got the build your own omelet. It was fantastic. My son got the Evan breakfast. Which pretty much is considered the "garbage plate" anywhere else. They also give you a lil thing of strawberry sauce to go with your toast. The menus right now are paper. Which in this time is probably a good thing. I folded that bad boy up and brought it home with me. The prices were super cheap. Which is awesome since everything now a days is getting expensive. Like I said before there are clowns everywhere but it's still a cute thing. Unless you're afraid of them. Then I wouldn't go there. We wanted to love the Magic Wand, we have driven past it for years but have never stopped. We finally had an opportunity to stop by and we just didn't have the feel-good experience we were hoping to get at this cute diner. We order swirl ice-cream cones and were expecting something better, I guess. We paid $3 for the same experience we could have gotten for $1 across the street at McDonald's. It was just a soft-serve cone, nothing special and the same size as McDs. The prices reflect that it should be something at least a little more special. My husband had a magic burger here, it wasn't that great. Very small and greasy - I suppose this is what you are supposed to expect from a small-town diner but just wasn't everything we thought it should be. We've visited a lot of diners, and prices are normally higher, but there has to be something that keeps bringing you back. We also wanted to sit outside since it was a really nice night, but the swarms of mosquitos kept us from being able to do this (as well as all the other guests). read more

Such a fun place to go. Weather you're hungry for some fried food or ice cream they have it all. No drive thru and limited private parking space. I have driven by several times and it's always busy no matter what time of day. We ordered food. It's made fresh and served hot. Both curt and straight fries are seasoned well but small portion for the price. In fact all food is pretty pricey. The ice cream is a fair price tho. There are two ways to dine: inside dining with table service or walk up. Window that you can grab to go or eat on their cool patio. Which is also pet friendly!! They even sell pup cups this consist of one scoop of ice cream and a dog treat! That's cool. Service ya friendly and the food was good. I grew up during my grade school years right by the Majic Wand. It's always been my favorite place to eat ever. We go back to Churubusco several times a year to visit family and eat there. They lie. Swiss steak is round steak braised in tomato sauce. The $10.99 meal I received today was two pieces of cubed steak with a poorly made package gravy on it. They do not serve Swiss steak they serve cubed steak. It has been this way ever since the grandson of the original owners took over. I really, REALLY wanted to like this place, but it wasn't to be. We were up in Northern Indiana, visiting some places we'd not been to childhood, and decided to give the Magic Wand a try. Upon arriving, we weren't sure if we were supposed to wait to be seated or not, so we stood at the entrance, caught the eye of a couple of servers, and were pretty much ignored. Someone finally told us that we could sit anywhere, and we seated ourselves. Our server was---distracted. She took our drink order, brought our drinks, and asked for our food order, and then just kind of looked around the room while we were trying to give her our oder. Onviously distracted by something, it was a very odd experience. Placed our orders, and our food came out in a timely manner. I chose the breaded tenderloin and it was...well, it wasn't that great. Pounded out nearly paper thin, there was no way to distinguish between the texture of the breading and the meat. Part of it was overcooked and part undercooked, possibly because it was to large to fit in the fryer? The flavor was bland, and I didn't finish it, which is quite the rarity for me. My wife and a burger and it was fine, she ordered breaded mushrooms as a side order and got like 5 tiny mushrooms as the side. We needed a drink refill, but couldn't flag down a server, so I had to go to the counter and wait on someone to notice me. SInce the food was mostly edible, I'll go with a 2 star review, but I don't anticiate returning. read more

So my girl and I go here last night (08/10/21) to get some ice cream. This is my second time ever going here as I'm new to the area. I get the strawberry glacier she gets the Reese's glacier. As we pull into the gas station next door to get gas she takes a bites and discovers a fly in her ice cream! This fly was at least in inch into the cup! If we weren't at the gas station under the light she would of easily ate it!! She immediately walk over to tell them she no longer wanted it and to she them the bug clearly apart of the ice cream! Probably a little biased cause I've been frequenting this drive-in since I was a wee lad. Grew up in a neighboring town and have eaten here more times than I could ever count. Drive-In style menu accompanied by home style dinners and specials makes this a great stop with variety and selection for everyone. Original burgers like the Magic Burger and the Big Max (named for 1/2 of the husband/wife proprietors who have owned the Wand for over 30 years). The best breaded onion rings you'll find just about anywhere. Don't know what it is they do, but I've yet to find better rings anywhere in the country. Probably one of the most popular items on the menu and one that always draws me back every time I make my way back to the area is the Breaded Pork Tenderloin. Amazing. The fillet is about the size of your plate and you could definitely make two sandwiches out of it (sometimes I have). Again, don't know what it is they put in that breading but this sandwich keeps them coming back from all over. They serve a Tenderloin sandwich that is "made on premises" I wasn't that hungry so I went for the Magic burger. I love visiting Magic Wand. The food is good and fresh, and I like the staff. They're incredibly friendly. The whole restaurant is clown themed, which is a combination of retro fun and scary as hell. I stopped here on my way to Goshen from Fort Wayne. I first saw the Mc Donald's but then saw the Magic Wand. I figured a place that could compete / thrive after a Mc Donald's moved it must be something worthwhile. The diner itself is kinda old school with a magic / clown theme as mentioned. Service was fast and small town friendly. That was something that I thought was really cool, friendly small town conversation. I chose the Magic Burger Basket and everything was great hot and fresh...Burger, Fries, and coleslaw. The food was solid, and wholesome. The menu offers a pretty wide variety and many of the items have cute, unique names like "The Mr David Burger" and, of course, the signature "Magic Burger." Theres even a nice selection of fries...waffle fries, curly fries, american fries, french fries, etc. Breakfast served all day! Plus wonderful dessert! Yeah, the interior is tacky, but it's a good, wouldn't-have-it-any-other-way sort of tacky. The service is friendly and so are most of the other customers. Thats the thing about Busco, you can really talk to just about anyone...but you can keep to yourself, too :) I eat here whenever I can and its my go-to eatery when I'm with friends.
