We waited 15 minutes before we stopped a waitress and asked for service. The restaurant wasn't that busy but we only saw 2 people, and they were gone for periods of time. The food is mediocre, the silverware cheap, I felt sorry for an older woman who came in after us and still wasn't waited on when we left. Takeout order, so take this review with a grain of salt. Well, more like a lack of salt. Burger lacking in flavor. Meat tastes like it's from my high school cafeteria. They clearly didn't put any salt or pepper on the patty. Fries are soggy and I only had a 2 minute drive home. They also have little to no salt on them. You can tell from their appearance exactly how underwhelming their taste and texture will be. The frisco sauce is more of a liquid than a condiment and lacks in tanginess, it's a little too sweet for my taste, and they barely put any on it in the first place! The lettuce they put on it reminds me of that lettuce at subway that you're praying they don't put on your sandwich. Super soggy, curly, squishy - none of the fresh crunch that you'd be hoping for. Tomatoes aren't salted and but that's such a nitpicky thing I shouldn't even mention it. They did have a weird, skunky after taste though, which I certainly should mention. Kind of like unfiltered Michigan tap water, just a hint of flint. The texture and taste of the bread is rather nice, but so much so that it so insanely outshines everything in between it. The average vegan burger and fries blows this out of the water, so take that how you will. The apple pie was subtly sweet but the apples were barely caramelized. Quite a small piece and they didn't bother to heat it up. I should've asked. Edit: The pie was actually the star of the show here. Crust was substantial and a great texture/flavor, pie itself wasn't overly sweet. It was small but mighty. That gives this place a half star higher in my mind. Very close to the airport, so perfect for early morning flights. Service was spectacular! Hard to find folks with such sunny dispositions at 6AM! Food was plentiful and tasty. Great place for breakfast! Looking for something different? Try the American omelette with sausage and cheese. The sausage Rich's uses in their omelettes is unique (fine, small crumbles). Whole hog sausage as a side is another unique item that is pretty good for a slight up charge. Italian and Philly omelettes are good too. They offer several skillets--Country and Irish are our favorites. Sunday lunch--if they offer roast turkey or pork with dressing, we're there!! Pretty awesome lunch for price. Ribs on Saturday are good. Fish is solid. I like their chili too! The wait staff is some of the most friendly you can find if you talk to them like people--they are good folks who are extremely dedicated to the store/owner/regular customers. They work hard--treat them respectfully and you will be treated like family. Saturdays and Sundays can be busy from 0900-1300 and it can get a bit loud sometimes. The recent review from Dana (FL) is BS. This is not a place for post wedding breakfast unless you're looking for a casual, let your hair down, get some good grub, and thank the good Lord all the pomp and circumstance is OVER! This is a comfortable, sweatshirt & blue jeans, neighborhood breakfast joint. If you're looking for ambiance, mimosas, and toast points with avocado go somewhere else. Ricky and his fellow table bussers work very hard and turn tables extremely quick for the many people who are waiting to be seated most weekends. Went today for lunch. Got the beef & noodle special with mashed potatoes and cole slaw. Highly recommend, the food and service was outstanding! I will definitely be back! Very casual atmosphere but it wasn't cold inside which was nice... so many restaurants don't care about dining room temperature, but Rich's was great. Good food but bus boys need some guidance/help. We were a group of ten and couldn't even carry on a conversation. They slammed dishes in their pans like they were in some kind of race so loudly it made people jump. It would have not taken anymore time to lay them in there. I am giving Rich's Cafe a solid three stars. I stopped in over the lunch hour after a suggestion from one of my coworkers. I was surprised by the size of the interior, as it was much bigger than it appeared from the outside. The inside had a diner like feel and was nothing spectacular but it was bright and had plenty of seating available. There were 6 of us and we were seated promptly. Our waitress was friendly and took good care of us. The menu had a variety of options from all day breakfast, sandwiches, entrees and salads. I opted for the all day breakfast. I ordered the half and half, biscuit and friend potatoes covered in sausage gravy with two eggs on top. The food was good, but didn't blow me away. My only complaint was that the groups food all came out at different times and they never apologized for the inconvenience. Overall, this was a good dining experience and I would return! read more

I have been to this place several times. After a bad experience I stopped for about a year. This is about my 8th time back. It will be my last. They have a sign that says please seat yourself. Been told by management and waitresses. If not busy just seat yourself. I did this Morning like I have on other visits after waiting. Waitress comes over asked what I would like to drink. She came with a drink asked what I wanted to order. I told her I don't know I have not looked at a menu. She brings one back. Sets it down and in a childs voice . Thats why you need to read a sign and you would have had one. I waited a second got up and I told her what I been told. There is no reason to talk to me like I am a child. She told me she never did that. As well as telling me I have never been told that. So has she been there every time a customer has been told something? NO Also to tell me she did not talk to me like that. I walked in in a great mood. Now is a different story. I will never be back . I know I am not the first one with issues with this place . I won't be the Last. But its the last time for me. For even as I am walking out she is running her mouth. read more

Very affordably priced "diner" fare. Rich's specializes in breakfast and lunch and isn't open late, but offers a decent selection of basic breakfasts (served all day) plus burgers and other simple sandwiches and entree platters. The vibe is extremely laid-back, and the wait staff are usually excellent: prompt, friendly, and able to answer just about any question about the menu. Even when the parking lot is packed, there's almost never a wait. Experiencing Rich's is like a Waynedale time capsule. It's cheaper than IHOP, and definitely feels local. read more

I am a regular here as I live nearby. The food here is good. I especially recommend their all you can eat fish, their ribs on Saturday's , their pork special and many others. The only thing I stay away from is the brown gravy which I find disgusting and was told it comes from a can. read more

I enjoy Rich's Cafe in Waynedale. It's not fancy. You have a wide variety of items to choose from including breakfast from dawn to close. Their portions are generous. Their prices are fair. When you consider what you pay now for fast food meals, I'll take a hearty meal like I grew up eating from Rich's everytime. Waitress staff has always been attentive and nice on my visits. Second visit to the restaurant. My dad and I came for lunch on a Friday afternoon at noon. The parking lot was packed, and we expected a wait - but were immediately escorted to a table. The waitress took our order quickly, but had a problem with my drink order. I started my order by saying that I wanted a diet coke and a beef manhatten. My dad then ordered, and she repeated my order saying that I had ordered an iced tea. I said that I had ordered a diet coke, and she said "oh, that's right". The restaurant was busy, but it seemed like they had a good handle on it - good servers, bus staff and kitchen was getting things out quickly. When the server brought our drinks, there was the iced tea. That's ok - I like iced tea and I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. Funny thing, is that the night before at Qui's, the exact same thing happened - I got iced tea instead of what I really ordered. Hmmmm - I must look like I need an iced tea. The manhattens came out and looked pretty good. However, the mashed potato "scoop" was kind of hard on the outside. The gravy was ok, but the meat was tough and stringy. Now, those of you that have read my reviews know I love me a good manhatten - and this was just not up to snuff. It was ok - but the beef could and should have been much better. New to Fort Wayne and was looking for a decent family restaurant. There are always cars in their lot so we gave it a try. Service was good but the food was not. My husband had a Reuben wrap and said it was lacking flavor but not bad. It was small for the price and the fries were bland. I got fish and shrimp. The fish, while a large portion, tasted of old grease. The shrimp tasted rancid. I took one bite and had to quit. Made me queasy. I don't know if the oil was bad or the shrimp but we won't be going back. read more
