    We love the Magic Time Machine and are regulars. There was nothing regular about our visit with Nacho Libre. He is incredible! The whole family from babies to teenagers and adults thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Food was good, too. Thanks to everyone who made the evening unforgettable especially Miles Morales, Squid the balloon artist, and Bill Nye the photographer. Dream come true for a 3 year old to see the real Spiderman.

    I've been to Magic Time Machine twice several years apart and it has exceeded expectations both times. The table next to us said "This is the ultimate kid-friendly restaurant" and I couldn't agree more. The characters, decor, and charm make it so special and the food was great too. I had the chicken Alfredo and it was very good. A rare occasion where you don't have to sacrifice food quality for a fun atmosphere. We will be back again!

    Amazing service from Daphne. Her and Jix sang my wife happy birthday. Food was tasty. We had a great time. It was a great experience I honestly hadn't been in about 20 years. It was relaxing and a great time. Zero complaints. It's a fun family night. This place I iconic San Antonio.

    been coming here for YEARS, and there's sooo much i love about it and this place NEVER fails to make me visit more magical than the last! i recently celebrated my 20th birthday on Nov 9th and we had the honor of having Ace Ventura! PLAYED THE PART SOOOO WELL ABSOLUTELY LOVED!!! he was quick and sweet and funny super funny and helpful and rlly a great experience overall!! and can't forget a mention of bill nye, barbie, loki, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, raven, bubbles, and the white rabbit from the alice in wonderland, everyone played their part sooo extremely well:)!!! BARBIE WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!ESPECIALLY bc pink was my birthday theme! i absolutely loved the keep sake memory pictures taken!! the food was super great, my in laws liked it:) establishment is amazingly decorated and clean as always!! i can't wait to celebrate my 21st birthday next year here!!!

    My family and I went for the first time on a Friday evening to celebrate the 18th birthday of our twins. We had a wonderful time. The staff was entertaining and we were laughing most of the night. If you plan to visit keep in mind it's more about entertainment than the food. I ordered the grilled chicken parmigiana. It could have used more marinara and cheese but we definitely plan to visit again.

    Food is always decent, you dont go to MTM for the food quit honestly. Its about time with family and/or friends, the experience, and fun. I do LOVE the salad bar though! And of course the best part, the entertainer waitstaff. Some are more naturally into presenting a show with good service than others, and I have been going since 2016 to present, most recently last month (July 2025), and NACHO is El Jefe' here! He's the man! Totally makes the entertainment and dinner amazing, and you feel like your money was more than well spent. He's on another level in comparison to the others. The only thing Id like to see is TMT have a slight "FACE LIFT" externally and internally. The old, rustic, nostalgic feeling isnt to be lost, but dont let dust and, rot, or old and uninteresting set in. Just being honest as a patron and fan.

Extremely accommodating and instructive as well. You can't hope for much more from a server in Restaurant than this activity. The food is really quite good. How are the drinks. Extremely dependable and the portions are generous and equally wonderful. There are many places to dine in San Antonio. Boudros was highly recommended by friends, and was the first restaurant on our list to dine in during our recent visit. We arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday around 7:45 pm and were told by a young Hostess that no walk-ins were allowed until after 9 pm. We decided to modify our itinerary and instead had dinner at a different restaurant on the riverwalk, and made a reservation for Boudros online for the following evening. When we arrived the following evening for our reservation at 7.30 pm, we were escorted to a small table in the bar that was next to the entrance to a small room. The area was noisy with a lot of foot traffic. We asked for a table in a quieter room and were moved to a room in the back of the restaurant where it was easier to have a conversation. A few minutes later our waiter, Stephen, approached the table. We asked him for drink recommendations and among others he recommended the "Prickly Pear Margarita". I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, and we also ordered the tableside Guacamole. The restaurant was busy, but there were several empty tables in our dining area. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the waiter brought our drinks. The Prickly Pear Margarita I received was not even close to the description on the menu. The ice was melted and it tasted like Fruit Punch with alcohol in a martini glass. A few minutes later, Stephen approached our table with the Guacamole cart. There were pieces of onions and cilantro all over the dirty table cloth on the cart. He prepared the Guacamole in front of us and it looked very unappealing. We watched as he added an excessive amount of diced onions and cilantro. Being a connoisseur of Guacamole, and making my own for most of my life, it was obvious that Stephen had not been trained well in how to make Guacamole. After he mixed the sliced avocados, the diced onions and cilantro, he wiped the edge of the stone tray with a dirty cloth. The onions and cilantro over powered the taste of the avocado. Later that evening, Stephen brought a very fancy drink for a customer sitting next to us. The drink looked like frozen lime juice with line of frozen strawberry and a nice scoop of frozen lime juice on top. I asked Stephen for the name of that drink, and he replied that it was the same drink that I had ordered. I asked why it looked so different and he muttered something about it being the end of the batch and then said "I'm not the Bartender". He blamed the Bartender for making the terrible drink, and made no effort to correct the problem. Later Stephen returned with our dinner, and as he approached our table, he ordered my wife to "move your glass!" Needless to say she was quite taken aback at his abrupt manner with no please or thank-you. In all the staff did not have a very good demeanor and were very sullen and grumpy. Even asking for directions to the bathroom barely elicited a glance and the needed information. Maybe the staff was overworked because of the number of visitors for the Fiesta, but the terrible, over-priced food, did not make up for the unhappy staff, and we do not plan to return.

This dish used cork screw shaped pasta and it was moist and not stuck together. I had to share a photo of it with Sweetie who is in Tokyo right now. Doc liked the pimento for the cornbread. As it was almost 9 pm we decided to pass on the boat ride but just walk on the other side with shops and more eateries. We're back on the road again tomorrow to Arizona.

The Social Hour looked really good so finally made my way back for date night on a Friday and did not disappoint. We tried several things on the menu and loved them all. The house Cab was very nice. Service was excellent, definitely ask for Nicholas. I had a Carajillo for a after dinner drink from the bar cart that goes around. Fantastic. Restaurant is still as beautiful as ever. But at my age anytime you are over ground is the best occasion. I have heard it is real fancy. And it is. Do not come in Crocs and sweatpants. This is not that restaurant. It is that restaurant where you should make reservations. It is also a place that emphasizes presentation and service. We came right when it opened and we informed the hostess of our reservations. We were seated in the bar area. Once inside I was struck by its ambience. It is sleek, dark and dare say "sexy." Our server, who was extremely attentive came to our table and took our drink orders. My partner ordered an Old Fashioned and me, a Lagunitas IPA. Whilst waiting for our drinks I looked over the room. One thing I noticed was a barrier that separated the bar area and the dining room. The Social Hour is meant, to socialize. I saw couples leaning into each other. Another group were drinking martinis with a seafood tower, almost touching the ceiling. Conversations were had. Romantic glances were exchanged. It isn't a casual place like Bubba's 33 nor Texas Roadhouse. It feels like a place best suited for a date night or an anniversary. I'm wondering how the dining room area is? The Social Hour does offer some drink and small bites specials. We ordered the kabob with pineapple, brussel sprouts, and sliders. They were all pretty great. It reminded me of the same experience as in partaking in tapas. I would remiss if I didn't relay our service here, it was excellent. Our server, Holiday(I hope I spelled it right.) treated us like we were the only patrons there. I've gone to upscale restaurants where staff looks at you up and down. Or they try to size you up. This is not that place. Which was so refreshing. If this place went above and beyond my expectations why didn't I give it four stars? In my opinion I think that a place that creates an upscale experience needs to have a few beers on tap. Even places like Wing Daddy's or Chili's offers a few beers on tap. Secondly, the bar area seating feels a bit tight. I wonder when the dinner crowd arrives would you be in the lap, of someone else's conversation? I still highly recommend this place. The Social Hour area is perfect for a date or an anniversary. The service and food were both excellent. And I've never been to a place where you are given warm hand towels. It reminded me of that scene with Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" minus Billy Idol.

Last week, The Barn Door announced on Facebook that its final day of service will be Sunday, May 11th (Mother's Day). The Barn Door has been an outstanding steakhouse in the truest sense. They've never relied on gimmicks or culinary trends--they've relied on the tried-and-true flavors that have maintained a loyal clientele for decades. I'm taking about hand-cut, primal cuts of beef grilled over real mesquite, delivering that unmistakable South Texas char. I'm referring to plump, wild-caught shrimp from the Gulf Coast, the famous yeast rolls, and tubs of homemade salad dressings. If you've been there, you know how special the overall experience has been. I've read many heartfelt comments on social media asking why such a successful institution would cease operations. Well, dear reader, I have a unique insight into why. Randy Stokes has poured his heart into the restaurant, but he merely leases the building--not the land--from the Straus family. Approximately seven months ago, Mr. Straus decided to sell the dirt beneath the "Barn" to a real estate developer. The plan? To raze this historic site and erect modern condos. It's a familiar story of urban expansion, but it doesn't make the loss any easier to swallow. But before we close the door on "The Barn" forever, a glimmer of hope looms on the horizon. Randy Stokes and his team aren't necessarily hanging up their aprons for good. According to a reliable anonymous source, the team has expressed a desire to reopen The Barn Door at a new location, with eyes set currently on the city's North Side. I hope the promise of a new location comes to fruition, but even if The Barn Door closes forever, I will cherish all the wonderful memories of dining there with my parents and grandparents over the years. It's a sketchy area to walk behind the restaurant to the Speakeasy. Anyhow, I ordered the chicken fried ribeye, jalapeño twice baked potato. Now, the potato was great. I didn't care for the ribeye and didn't eat it. The salad was right out of the bag. Iceberg, shredded carrots and cabbage with 5 bagged croutons. What happened? It wasn't like that before. My cream spinach came out late, and we weren't charged for it, which was nice. My brother in laws filet was too done. He asked for medium, and it was medium well. He ate it anyway. They used to have a 6oz ladies filet, but they don't. The server wasn't perfect, but we lived. IF I return, I'll skip the salad, get the filet and potato.

The plates come when they are ready and I have to say the food came really quick! All of it was fantastic! Surprisingly the shredded vegetable salad was amazing and one of my favorite dishes! The tamarind glaze on the Chicken Karaage was not overpowering and so tasty. The service was amazing and the vibes of the restaurant were a lot of fun.
