I passed this place this morning on an alternate route to work. I will be taking that route more often to swing by here. I had the cheese grits and a sausage and cheddar biscuit. Both were great. The sausage and cheddar biscuit to me was like a giant sausage ball, I heated up for about 15 seconds in the microwave. They have a variety of muffins, muffin tops, scones and biscuits. My family, every place I've worked and most of my friends love and RAVE about magic muffins. Why? Because I buy them for all kinds of events and take them to work for breakfast frequently - I even buy them when we have someone out sick and are getting food. They have AWESOME casseroles, as well, which no one has touched on yet, but everything is handmade (lasagna with homemade noodles, chicken pot pie with homemade crust, best cheese grits ever, etc.). Prices are VERY reasonable - I could definitely not make these dishes for the price I buy them at and I'm giving my family a homecooked meal without the mess and time! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. Only reason I don't give the last star is because to get "as good as it gets" means a huge jump in price. I don't have idle cash on hand to purchase what only the richest in our area can afford, nor did the brides I was most comfortable serving when I had my flower shop open for a decade on Highland Ave. My customer was after quality, but not doubling or tripling the cost for that last "over the top" fraction better. I always suggested Magic Muffins for wedding cakes for brides that had not already gotten that sorted out.... and in 10 years of doing such, I never once had a bride that went with them say she was disappointed. Magic Muffins did the cakes when my nieces got married. If I would risk my professional reputation when I still had the flower shop open to endorse and recommend Magic Muffins, as well as trusting them to take care of my own family... well, I guess that says what I expect of the ability of the folks there. I had the chance to see what lots of brides paid for from them and from other bakers over the decade I was also in the business of making weddings special for each and every couple. The horror stories I could tell about cakes from others that were falling apart by the time I got on site to do flowers I will not share here...Magic Muffins pleased every bride I ever sent to them as well as my own family. BTW... I had one of the best flower shops in town at the time, based upon quality of work for the price... but I was not the BEST... I was not willing to charge that extra bit for the things those very few other shops offered that I did not. ... even so my quality was deemed good enough for a Miss Alabama, Duchess of York, largest local Cathedral etc..... I think Magic Muffins has a similar nature of expectation: the best you will find 9 times out of 10, but to go that tiny bit farther will cost you an arm and a leg... and some others on this bit of listings ( not calling names) did poor work for brides I was associated with. Let me be very clear the cake that i had was to die for! My coworker had a birthday party and i was sold. It was absolutely delicious& heavenly! My problem came to be in CUSTOMERSERVICE... I have called on 3 separate occasion to receive the exact same terrible rude attitude. I would ask if a cake could be done and the person who answered the phone was very rude and inconsiderate. I was surprised because it happenned on more than one occasion. I was hurt, to say the least. read more

This is a local business serving wonderfully priced, hand prepared, delicious food made fresh every day. I "discovered" this gem about a year ago when I went to work for a nearby company. They have a HUGE variety of delicious muffins and muffin tops--many are even lowfat and healthy! Everybody at the office looks forward to a Magic Muffin tray. I also went to a gorgeous wedding at a local country club that had a Magic Muffin wedding cake everyone is STILL talking about. The sausage cheese biscuits are enormous and very popular with folks who don't want something sweet for breakfast. They also have lovely cookies. What many may not know is that their fruit trays are fantastic packed with super fresh cut fruit and priced very well. They close at 3:00 pm, but if you email them in the evening, they will have your order ready bright and early the next morning. Can't say enough about this place! read more

These muffins are as good as it gets. My husband just didn't understand until he tasted their strawberry muffin. WOWZA!!! and the blueberry muffins are DOUBLE WOWZA!!! I just can't believe that I've lived in Birmingham all my life and just recently discovered these magical pieces of food. Trust me, believe the hype and try this place out. They made me the best birthday cake I've ever tasted! I've been trying to get my birthday cake designed a certain way for 3 years & have gone to several other reputable bakeries in Birmingham, & this was the first bakery to design my cake identically to what I wanted. Glenn and his team at Magic Muffin made our wedding cake and groom's cake - they were exactly what I wanted! The wedding cake was so elegant and the groom's cake, a stack of three books decorated to look like my husband's favorites, was absolutely perfect. They are so talented! Besides the cakes looking great, they tasted even better. Plus Magic Muffin's prices were considerably more reasonable than every other bakery I considered in Birmingham.
