Was really craving cake recently and decided to stop by Edgar's. I got the red velvet and caramel originally. Service was fairly quick and staff was nice. The red velvet was really good! The caramel had an odd taste. I took it back the next day and the manager gave me a refund and let me get another replacement slice. Great customer service! I wish the cake slice sizes were consistent but it definitely satisfied my craving. read more

I go there to get their Orange rolls. They are really good. Service is pretty good. It's an expensive place to eat but good food. I completely don't understand their reward system. No clue how it works. They don't ask for a phone number to get credit for the rewards one staff member told me the rewards are tied to your credit card payment. I go there about two times a month and never receive any rewards nor do I know how many points I have Breakfast is pretty good there. The one thing I don't like is that they tape your box shut. I want to eat my orange roll in the car. Staff says they have to take the box shut. It's a rule. read more

I have visited this location several times and have always had a good experience. They have lots of stuff you can just buy and don't have to order ahead. You can even get lunch here. Recently, I got a cake for my daughter's birthday. I got a small red velvet cake with is actually quite big. It is a high round cake so you don't need huge slices. There was lots extra after 4 of us ate it. The cake itself was beautiful. I was very pleased. While I was in there I also bought a beautiful loaf of challah bread. I didn't even need it but it was too pretty to resist. I have a French toast recipe that I love to make with challah bread so I'm happy to know where to go and get one in the future. Staff are very nice. The interior is nice with tables where you can sit and they even sell some cute things like mugs, etc. read more

This immaculate and heavenly bakery has the largest amount of seating I've ever seen. Cakes, cookies, bars, cupcakes, breads, and more! It was so hard to decide on just one thing so we got a variety - OLD FASHIONED BUNDT CAKE, SPECIALTY CAKE, GERMAN CHOCOLATE CUPCAKE, CHOCOLATE DECADENCE CUPCAKE, STRAWBERRY CAKE, and CARAMEL CAKE. All selections were outstanding. I would say my favorite has to be the old fashioned Bundt cake slice. It's so simple but so rich. I'd even say it's better than the Nothing Bundt Cakes version which I love. I'm planning to come back for Father's Day to pick out some goodies to celebrate. I've met girlfriends here for breakfast several times and the actual cafe food we ordered from the menu has been good each time. The cinnamon roll I got one time was just meh- like it wasn't very fresh even though I got them to microwave it a bit for me. Food doesn't come out at the same time, but we were fine with that. Last time we were there, my friend ordered a large cappuccino and the cup was only about half full with liquid and the rest was foam. Something about that's how their frothing machine makes them? So if you get a large cap, be prepared for it to be more like a medium. They'll let you add extra coffee to it if you request it. The floor under the tables has been really sticky every time we've been there so they could use a good cleaning or maybe a refinish. The girls working there are super nice and helpful read more

Wonderful local bakery with multiple Birmingham area locations. They also serve breakfast and lunch, but their wide selection of bake goods is the primary focus. One of my favorite items is their thumbprint cookies. The breakfast and lunch menu are limited, but the items are fresh and done well. The standard two-egg breakfast is what you would expect and pretty good. For lunch I like the chicken salads. I have been here several times and have always been satisfied with food and service. read more

We got there early so there weren't many people there. The employees were nice and ordering was fast and easy. Our food was ready relatively quickly. When we moved to Hoover, I began looking online to see if I could find a gourmet bakery. There simply isn't one in the area and may not be one in Birmingham either. Edgars was the closest thing that I sought to gourmet pastries. We went and did not enjoy the visit. The store was clean, and all of the baked goods looked beautiful. But the service was lackluster and the, flavors were very disappointing. We gave them another shot two months later. And are even more disappointed the second time. One of the Pacers was delicious and excellent. It was the cinnamon roll with nuts. The other pastry was beautiful, but completely devoid of flavor. we also bought a coffee which is actually serve yourself they give you a cup, and do you go to the coffee station and press the canister. There were three choices, and all were almost empty and you managed to get a half cup from one of them, but it was cold And obviously left over from the day before. Now it was about 9 o'clock in the morning so all of today's breakfast Rush had to do without coffee. Also, the tables had condiments provided but the salt, peppers, and Tabasco sauces were either completely empty, or almost empty, and looking around the dining and serving areas. There were a number of other deficiencies that I noticed, when I gave a closer inspection. I'm giving two stars, so you will know that I am not a reviewer that nails people with one star because of a slight hiccup. The place deserves about one star so I'm being generous. read more

This is not for this particular location but regarding the call center that picks up for orders. They're for the most part snappy and rude. You can never speak directly to the bakery but have to use their call center. You have to pay in advance for all orders. All of this to me is inconvenient and not customer friendly. I wasn't able to call the bakery to find out if my order was ready. I'm having someone pick up my cake and this person had to do it on their time frame. I paid in advance and they kept mentioning it's for a Trace Crossing location however the Hoover one is listed for Perdiot Place. When you Google Edgar's Hoover Perdiot Pl directions only show up. Since I can't call the bakery to confirm any of those things and the call center doesn't help with directions or whether or not my order is ready at that location, I will not be ordering anymore cakes with this franchise. I also simply asked what do I do if the cake is not to my liking. The agent said what do you mean... Our decorators are top tier? She went on to ask me to further elaborate on my normal question. I then said I just need to know your policy. So many things can go wrong with orders. I typically don't ever return food items but want to know and should have been given a simple answer. She then put me on hold to ask someone. I seriously doubt this was an odd question. I was made to feel that I had a complaint when I didn't. When a costumer is asked to pay in advanced and is charged in advanced they should solidly be allowed to know the return policy. Edgar's makes quality cakes but this call center needs to go. I need to be able to communicate directly with the stores that will have my order. Update our cake from this location was not packed well and the box smothered the cake and shifted off the place holder. read more

Edgar's is definitely one of the best bakeries in this area. I've never had a bad experience and they always have a good variety of cakes, pastries and just about any other flour/sugar/egg goodies you want. They make fabulous products and the price is fair. They also have a pretty a rock star brunch. Anyhow, in this trip I got a king cake. Actually.. I got two. The original and the berry. The original was very very good! I used to love this place but yesterday I visited this location, bought 24$ worth of desserts , the orange roll was stale and obviously several days old ( I couldn't eat it ) , the Chicken salad tasted odd and" off" even though it was in date - I wasn't gonna chance food poisoning, so out that went too! the macaroons were very tasty snd fresh ( inside the case w the cupcakes ) the lemon loaf bead slice was also fresh . I am done and disappointed in this place! When you're paying that much for an orange roll , 5$ for a Cup of chicken salad it should be fresh . i really hope these owners will get this straightened out bc this Was a great bakery ! these are small thimugs that shouldn't happen - when in doubt throw it out! I'm on the fence about Edgars.. I do love their chicken salad sandwiches and their spinach dip, it's wonderful. My problem is with the pastries and cakes. Yesterday we bought 12 cookies @ $22. You expect at that price the cookies would be over the top. They were overcooked, dry and all tasted the same. There were 4 different kinds of cookies in the box, and every cookie had the same texture and taste, very disappointing. We purchased 4 cupcakes there a couple months ago, and had the same feeling. The cupcakes were dry and not much flavor. It always seems to be nice and clean, and the staff is always very nice and efficient- I just don't feel you get the best baked goods at Edgars. read more

If you like waiting an hour for bacon, eggs and a biscuit, then this is your place. The bacon came out burnt. The eggs where over cooked and brown. The biscuit had little flavor. The only thing good was the cheese grits. What amazes me is they had one person working behind the counter. She was doing the best she could. I recently visited this location after a dinner at a nearby restaurant. Upon entering the bakery, it felt somewhat cold and uninviting, although there were festive trays of holiday cookies, staring me in the face. I did not purchase those but I purchased several other things: cheese straws, wedding, cookies, a slice of cake, and a cherry turnover. Those few things were over $30! I realize some things are a hit or miss and some things you live in and you learn. Well, I lived and went to Edgars, and although I am still alive, I have learned a serious lesson, and that is the confections they have inside are way overpriced! In addition, after waiting 15 minutes on other customers to be served, I waited another almost 5 minutes for the girl to come from the back to take my order. Like, she just disappeared! The store had about six or seven people aside from myself. Most of them were looking around in which I had already done and was ready to place my order. When the girl arrived at the counter, she was snarky at best. We all have bad days, right? Now I went to the flavor... The cherry turnover seemed really stale, along with the cheese straws as they were not crunchy in the slightest bit. The wedding cookies were extremely dry and crumbly. The slice of cake was chocolate icing on chocolate cake, and although the cake tasted great, the icing was an invitation to become an instant diabetic! I can say, hands-down they have the worst icing of anyone in town! (IMO) Will I return? NO! NEVER!! Our entire family loves the strawberry cake. The chicken salad is moist and has just t the right amount of veggies in it. The only negative comment I have is that no one smiles or greets you. Avocados was over ripe ,berries were not cold but less than chilled. The chicken salad was very disappointing in taste and seasoning just not close to Chicken Salad Chick or Tzatziki. The Strawberry cake was very good(1 Star credit). 27.00 lunch for two is ok. But this is not the quality for may lunch money. I love the Baby Bites and Strawberry Cake for gifts and surprises to friends I hope these are up to the Edgar's tradition at this location. read more

Besides the best cakes in town, Edgar's has exemplary customer service. Linda, at the Stadium Trace location, deserves a special award for customer service. Arriving later than planned, straight from the airport and a delayed flight, I was disappointed to find Edgar's closing at an earlier "fall time" and missed picking up a special cake ordered for a friend's birthday party that evening. As I turned my car around in the back parking area, I saw someone getting into her car (looking tired and ready to go home) and I asked if she worked at Edgar's; after explaining my situation she said she would open up to get the cake for me! She was gracious and kind and deserves a "customer service" award for going above and beyond - it was 1.5 hours after closing! I have loved every Edgar's that I have been to. I just by luck saw this one off of Hwy 150 in Hoover and I decided to try it. I'm not sure of how long this one has been here or I just haven't noticed it. The bakery is very spacious and not crowded, which is a must for everywhere I go especially during the pandemic. I even enjoyed sitting outside. I tried their strawberry cake, which I do at every Edgar's. I can honestly say that it was tasty. I wouldn't say it is better than other locations but I can't complain. They had a variety of treats but I just chose to stick with my cake. The staff is very friendly and besides cleanliness, that is what I look for when I go to new spots to eat. read more

Worst customer service I've experienced since moving to the area. I ordered breakfast for myself and my pregnant wife and they filled the order wrong. I had to drive back up to the store to get it corrected and the Manager of the store tried to give part of the original breakfast back to me that was at that point, ice cold. Not to mention they tried to argue that it was my fault for ordering the wrong item and when confronted about it had to fall back on the excuse of "Well our online menu hasn't been updated so the order is right". I've had food here about three times. first two were okay. Today was not. I ordered a spinach salad which cost 12.50 + tax and tip, totaling near 20 bucks. The salad was 1 cup of somewhat limpy spinach, about a tsp of bacon or bacon bits, 1 mushroom cut into 5 wilted slices and vinaigrette dressing. Nothing else. It was enough food for an appetizer at a bad place. When I went to the very young manager, she was wanting to be helpful, but was put in a position that she was not really qualified for. She was fine, but made it clear she had no power as a manager to do anything or make any decision when a customer is disgruntled. I wondered what the point of doing that to her was. i wasn't asking for my money back. I just wanted this situation acknowledged, but "Edgar" didn't hire a person who was given a position to think, just to follow orders from the invisible boss. If I can give zero stars I would! I attempted to order a cake from Edgar's bakery for my daughters birthday while I was out to sea (Active duty military). However, the website kept saying there was an error and would not let me go through with the process. I got back to land only to find out money was taken out of my account for the cake. I called and explained what had happened. I ask if I can get a refund or store credit since the cake was not picked up. They told me no. They don't keep record of who picks up cakes. It's sad that I'm risking my life for people like this. read more
