What a charming bakery/coffee shop in a super cute almost European nook in town. If you're…read morevisiting, I definitely recommend taking a drive to this area. Progressive area - Seems to be... There wasn't line when we got there but the crowd usually follows us for some reason so by the time we left there was standing room only and a line out the door. The bakery items were very fresh and tasty. I loved the Swedish gingerbread cookies - light and crisp. The lemon bar was delicious. They also have sandwiches that liked really good. Coffee - I got a vanilla latte extra sweet (no lavender) and my daughter said it was one of the best. I thought it was pretty good. I would go again when back in Birmingham!

The flavor was definitely there, which I appreciated, but the crust was a little tough. I also grabbed a couple of brownies. They were good, but I was disappointed by the presentation, tightly wrapped and squeezed into plastic wrap. I came to Alabama expecting Southern bakery quality, Southern prices, and Southern hospitality. Instead, the brownies gave me a middle of the road presentation at Jersey prices. Would I go back? Now that's the question. I would give the pecan pie another chance, but hopefully with a crust that is a little more cooperative.

The top bakeries were simply okay. Today I sampled a morsel of key lime cake. It caught my interest I then sample a morsel of red velvet cake and I knew she knew what she was doing. I then purchased a slice of key lime cake and I waited. I choose the end of this very long day to partake to see if this was in fact what I hoped it was. I was hoping that I finally found true baking master in the city. I know baking masters my Sister is one (she lives far away) I know of one in Tallahassee FL (see my other Yelp reviews). With this hope in mind I took my first bite. I then Took my second and my third and my hopes were truly realized. The Key Lime Cake was superb. I wanted to stop share this experience and to show some love to Sweet E's. I am looking forward to trying more of your products. The morsel sample did its job, it held promise. It takes a few bites to make the judgement call, and a few visits to render a verdict. You are certainly on the right track and I applaud your artistry. Thank you for Sharing your gifts and for being a vendor at the Magic City Classic 2025.

Many guests asked where I had the cookies and PF baked because they were so pretty and delicious. I, we provided ALL decor visible on this cake sans the "crafted" bottle out of icing they charged me $55 for on a 2-tier 8"/6" top only to be told they couldn't craft it for this 2 tiered cake. So, we scraped last minute the top tier. Does it look as if it couldn't have been on a 2-tier considering the bottle is NOT over 21/2" tall?!?! And, where is the rice krispy?!?! I bit into it to find ICING!!!! (AGAIN - see pictures.) I was told to have the 2 tiered quote for $185 with bottle (sans tax), the bottle wouldn't work. I would have to have some custom bottle cookie on top. God forbid considering what you visually see I ended up receiving. So, to have my custom bottle like pictures I provided, I'd have to have the 8" solo. Okay...fine. Yet, to write my daughter's name on this pathetic icing fondant covered bottle, I was to pay just shy of original quote. And, TO ADD insult to injury, I WAS blamed for such. Like, REALLY?!?! Well, if they'd delivered upon what I had to RE-discuss/address because of their ineptness on innumerable conversations, this may have been fine. But, AGAIN, this IS NOT! So, I scraped the top tier. Question, consumer- do you think an 8" cake, with EXTRA layer, is worth $165 ($180 w/ tip?!?!?!)? How STUPID and regretful I am I tipped, prior to cake receipt. (On a sidebar, the red velvet, our daughter's favorite, was decent. But, not worth the $300 my decorations and this cake cost.) ! "Caveat Emptor!", friends. And, unless you desire hassle upon hassle and to be COMPLETELY stressed out and disappointed beginning 10 days out from whatever reason you're purchasing a custom cake, GO ANYWHERE but here!!! As, fortunately, there are INNUMERABLE bakeries (like White Oaks Cookie Co I found to custom make (18) specialty cookies for our daughters surprise party her friends are putting on for her that are EXCELLENT and 1/2 of the $150 plus tax these bozos we're going to charge me.) My, how I CONTINUE to miss my beloved Dreamcakes! Lesson learned. PRAY I save you from such lesson!!! You've been warned...
