All I can say is the cheese straws this bakery creates are so light and fluffy. They are absolutely the best I have ever had.

Y'all.... these are some goooooood pastries. I FINALLY made it out in the wee hours of the morning…read more(9:30am) to get to Last Call. My friends got the ham and cheese croissants, which looked incredible. I got several different things to try, intending to share, but brought them all home on a rainy day and they never made it back out of the house. The olive oil cake was scrumptious. Light, pleasantly sweet. Almost a pound cake texture, not that weird polenta-y thing. The oat morning bar also had an incredible flavor. The jam was tart and the oats were sweet with a little salty finish. Fantastic with some coffee. There was a line out the door when we got here. No seating inside. It all moved very quickly. I can see why everyone says these are the best pastries in Alabama...

First time visiting and I see it's somewhere you need to get up and go early for the best variety…read more It was nearly 11 am when I arrived and it was slim pickins' on what was left. Lemon Bar, Olive Oil Cake, Chocolate Croissant, Miso Blondie and Brownie were what was left and most of them it was only one left. I selected the brownie it was a peanut butter spread on top and was actually really good and large enough to share with multiple people. The staff was nice and moved quickly when making the ordering process seamless. The space for guest is not very big so you do have to either sit outside or take it with you, it's a decent amount of the outdoor seating and also a coffee shop next door. In future I would hope to be able to get there earlier so I can try more of their offerings.

What a charming bakery/coffee shop in a super cute almost European nook in town. If you're…read morevisiting, I definitely recommend taking a drive to this area. Progressive area - Seems to be... There wasn't line when we got there but the crowd usually follows us for some reason so by the time we left there was standing room only and a line out the door. The bakery items were very fresh and tasty. I loved the Swedish gingerbread cookies - light and crisp. The lemon bar was delicious. They also have sandwiches that liked really good. Coffee - I got a vanilla latte extra sweet (no lavender) and my daughter said it was one of the best. I thought it was pretty good. I would go again when back in Birmingham!

Nestled in the Mountain Brook area, it's a little hard to see but is right next to Chez Lulu, which I think is a sister restaurant. Parking is a little tricky but manageable. I got there fairly late so the selection was a bit picked over, but I still got a good array of treats to bring home. Service was a touch slow but friendly. They were fairly busy. There's no room to eat inside or outside that I could discern; it's exclusively a take and go type of place. I got two pecan sandies to share with my parents, who were along for the ride, and then a cardamom bun and a peanut butter cookie for later. Sadly, I don't feel like any of the pastries really wowed. The pecan sandies were a little too dry (even as sandies go) and the pecans didn't taste toasted nor were they especially plentiful. The peanut butter cookie was the best thing, though it too was a little on the dry side - nice PB flavor though. I straight up didn't like the cardamom bun. The cardamom flavor was completely overwhelming, to the point it wasn't sweet at all, and instead tasted almost medicinal. The texture was nice but I couldn't finish it. Perhaps I arrived too late to order their specialties. I know they specialize in European goodies so if I return I'll make sure to try a croissant or something similar.

My two sons and I drove over to Sunshine's bakery this morning and I must admit-- it was worth the drive. We started out with three of the mango pastries and two ham and cheese croissants. The mango pastries were very good. The inside was kind of like a pudding/mousse and it did have real mangoes as well. My husband wasn't able to come with us so I picked up two more fruit pastries, another mango and the pear one. Even with it being a drive, I can see myself coming out here again. Oh, and the employees inside were very, very nice and hospitable. One of the employees, I believe may be the owner, came outside when we were eating and asked us how we liked everything and even asked for any feedback on how to make things better. You can't ask for better service than that!

Went a little later in the day, but they still had many options to choose from along with some of the biggest croissants I've ever seen in my life. I had to resist from grabbing one of everything. I ended up getting the mango and apple entrement. They did not disappoint. The fruit in the middle took it to another level. I will definitely be back to try their biscoff coffee drink they have along with another sweet treat!
