We are new to the area and checked Yelp for the best Chinese food near us. The top ranked was also only three miles away, Magic China. The young lady on the phone was very helpful considering I had a lot of questions. We ordered a lot of food to try different sauces. We were not disappointed. The Lo Mein and the fried rice were great. My wife ordered the Vegetable Delight and really enjoyed it. I got the Combination Mongolian. It was delicious. As an extra we got Sweet and Sour Chicken. This classic was as expected except it was mostly meat, I like a few extra vegetables and will ask for them next time. Yes, there will definitely be a next time. Magic China Lunch Visit March 2: Fried Tofu with Wok Fried Bok Choi. Well today I wanted to try something different and see a different picture in the same lo mein and orange chicken and general's chicken. So I noticed in the vegetarian section there was a dish call fried tofu and mixed vegetables. There's another dish of just garlic bok choy. I thought garlic bok choy sounded interesting so I asked that I have fried tofu with just garlic bok choy as my vegetable. There was a slight $0.50 up charge, no problem. Oh and since I hate the fried rice here I chose the steamed rice and I highly recommend it to anyone in the future. I I mixed my rice with my main dish. The fried tofu was very soft on the inside, softer that I've ever had it but I have read on other sites this is the way the Chinese eat it. In some Thai restaurants they fry the tofu in the deep fryer and it gets hard. This was delicately stir-fried and I found it quite satisfying. The hold dish was covered in a a general brown sauce that was Savory and not sweet unlike General Tso's sauce. The chef told me in the future I could order this sauce on the side and put it on any fried chicken dish. A lot of people don't like overly sweet sausage. The egg drop soup was just like grandmother made it, hot and satisfying. read more

Coming in we thought someone would sit us in this restaurant, give us a menu , order and the food would be served. NOPE! We had to get in line( IN THE RESTAURANT), grab a menu , order and sit down and wait for our food. It took awhile for them to bring out our food.We we're a little leery to eat the seafood soup we ordered because of the " bubbles" on top(was the soup old?Will we have food poisoning?) Hubby and I ordered out of the lunch menu and I ordered a vegetable Chow Mein . Being Asian, chow mein means NOODLES but mine came as a mix of veggies SMOTHERED with fried sliced wanton chips on top( which the restaurant called their " crispy noodles".I called the waiter and he politely brought it back to the kitchen to replace it with a veggie LoMein.A lady named "Jackie"came out with my plate and started to ARGUE with me regarding my order! I tried to explain to her that chow mein dishes had noodles but she insisted that she'd " forewarned " me and when I tried to explain further she rudely turned around and walked away! First of all, you DO NOT ARGUE with your customer(s) in a restaurant who are there to enjoy a meal.That is definitely how you lose customers!About my meal-the rice on my plate was very dry and hard like it was 2-3 days old and the Lo Mein was salty . I was so disappointed that I did not finish my meal.Giovanni our server however was very friendly , courteous and tended to our needs . I arrived at this restaurant at 2:15 today for the first time. I am new to the area & have been on the search for a tasty Chinese restaurant. I found it! The lunch menu is through 3:00 pm. I got egg drop soup, cashew chicken, egg roll & fried rice for $7.96. Now price doesn't matter if it is not tasty. Well, it is sooo yummy. The egg drop soup had green onions which was a nice touch to the chicken broth & egg. The egg roll has a nice lightly fried wrapper with tasty flavor. The cashew chicken has tender chicken, celery, carrots, mushrooms, water chestnuts & enough cashews. I'm eating it right now & am in my happy place. The ambiance is nice without being fancy cuz I'm in my shorts & flip flops. It's 104 degrees outside, but very comfortable in this restaurant. They have music playing relaxing tunes so a conversation can be had or just eat & enjoy. Try this place, I think you'll like it. read more

This restaurant just open. I really wanted to love it. I am rating this 3 stars because it is clean, the food was hot and the service was great. I love Chinese food. This place was good put in comparison to NY restaurants and FL restaurants it was average. It is however the closest Chinese food restaurant to us so we will return and trying other options. I had the sesame chicken. The sauce was strange with a reddish tone. It was a bit dry and the fried rice was a bit bland. My husband had the pepper steak, it was chewy and he was unable to cut it with a fork. Veggies were great. The steamed rice good. Magic China is a great and welcome addition to the very limited cuisine Cibolo has to offer and much tastier than the other Chinese restaurants in the area. read more

This part of town doesn't have a lot of good Asian restaurants. I think this restaurant is more of a take out and delivery operation. There is no beer and semi wait service. You order at the register but they do bring your food. The crab rangoon which in actually is cream cheese wantons we're great! Their egg roll rolls were fine. My wife had curry chicken. Some of the chicken was chewy and the flavor was ok. I had Mongolian beef and I enjoyed it. By Cibolo standards it was good. I might go back for take out. read more

I saw this place talked about recently and had some good recommendations from friends. The food is actually pretty good for your regular small plaza chinese food type of place. The biggest complaint I've seen people make about the food is the fried rice, which funny enough was some of my favorite. I think most people are used to fried rice that is loaded with onions and everything else that takes away from what it is. I would much rather a very simple fried rice, seasoned well that I can compliment my protein with. They do that very well. We got the lunch specials and for the price you're paying you're really not going to get more food. Soup, egg roll, fried rice, and a plate of food will leave the average person with left overs. My only complaint, and I can't detract a star for this, is that they don't deliver. Cibolo/Schertz area severely lacks delivery as is and a Chinese restaurant that delivers is non existent. I hope once these guys get everything down to clockwork they'll start delivering, they would truly make an incredible amount of money just from the lack of competition. read more

Quick service, variety of foods to choose from, clean restaurant/restrooms, and Friendly staff. They have adult and kid meals. I was able to swap chicken flavor on kids meal which was a plus. Knocked off one star due to the fact the (tap) water does have a funny taste also ordered a coke and had same funny taste but they do offer bottle drinks as well. Get the Hong Kong noodle soup. Very good! Ask for steamed sides of your favorite veggies as a complement. I recommend avoiding typical American Chinese food traps like General Tso chicken, Chow Mien, etc. Not because they are bad but they aren't going to wow you either. I want to start off by saying that we aim to only eat locally and especially love supporting small businesses. With that being said, we have been to Magic China 3 times now. I waited to write this review until now because the first time we went was opening week and I wanted to give it some time before forming my opinion. I feel like we've given it a "fair shot" now. This place has been really inconsistent. The second time we went, it was pretty good. This last time, it wasn't very good. Now, I do want to say that we have never eaten in restaurant - always have taken it to-go. The portion sizes have been hit-or-miss. Our last take out order this week, had a COMPLETELY full large to-go container of ONLY fried rice for only 2 entrees. My husband and I were shocked...it was totally unnecessary plus their fried rice is literally just old steamed rice with soy sauce...no egg or veggies. It is, by far, the worst fried rice we've had locally. We ended up just tossing it, which made me feel so guilty. My husbands General Tso was decent but it was a TINY portion in a container with MORE rice and an egg roll. My lemon chicken (with the sauce mixed in), on the other hand, was a pretty decent size (again, with MORE rice and an egg roll). I only ordered that to split with my younger kiddos. It was really bland. I really wanted to love this place because it's local and it's convenient. Unfortunately, it misses the mark. read more

Tried this place yesterday with my family. Our waitress was awesome! But the food was not quite so awesome! I ordered the happy dinner because it was comparable to the usual triple delight. Unfortunately it was bland. My family ordered kung pao chicken and hunan chicken. They were pretty darn spicey and definitely tastier than my meal. The eggrolls were ok and the fried rice tasteless.
