My dad wanted to order the steak and eggs and they were out of steak, he then asked for the breakfast burrito and they said they didnt have the sausage or steak available for it. The service was fast and attentive. The major issue was the temperature inside of the restaurant. We asked the server to turn on the AC and she let us know that it was on. It felt like a sauna inside. We also heard other tables complaing about how hot it was inside. I would also keep in mind that this " cafe" is ALSO A SHABU RESTAURANT it is not a separate cafe. I was unaware of that and came thinking it was going to have a " cafe" atmosphere and it does not. It absolutely looks like a shabu restaurant inside. Would not recommend if you are looking for a cute brunch spot.

I'm not vegan but I was raving about this burrito for weeks after trying it. The burrito basically tastes and has the texture of a chorizo and potato burrito and the sauce gives it the kick it needs. I found this coffee shop near me so I decided to go with my sister in law. We arrived 10mins before closing time so I was excited to make it on time. Apparently the ridiculously rude young lady working there wasn't having it. She took a couple minutes to take our order since putting in the patio furniture was more important. When she finally finished, she came to the counter with a horrible attitude asking what we wanted. My sister in law wanted a hot coffee and she refused to served it since the machine was "off" already. Then she proceeded to order a banana iced coffee (don't know the name) and again the lady refused to make it since it was one of their most "complicated" drinks to make. We ended up ordering two "quick and easy" ice drinks. We asked if she was working alone... this lady only had rude comments and answers to say (smart ass). It is unfortunate to be treated that way specially when it was my first time there. It is also very unfortunate that the Spanish Latte I ordered was delicious, BUT I will never be returning or recommending this place due to the horrible customer service. I have family in the coffee business and customer service is always a priority, not at this location. Very disappointed with whoever hired her and trained her.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and ordered the BBQ burger--and WOW, it was delicious! I chose it because it had crunchy potatoes on the burger, but the barbecue sauce was also delicious. My buddy David recommended the "Violent Rooster," and I somehow pegged it in my mind as the "Velvet Rooster," so imagine my surprise when I first encountered it -driving by it's bright illuminated lavender sign whilst ferrying an order from a neighboring restaurant- that it's the VIOLET gamecock, not the velvet bantam and certainly not the violent one! Last FRI, fairly famished following an unexpected vehicle breakdown/tow/repair that canibalized my entire morning, I decided to audition the Violet Rooster for myself, ordered Dak's Attack (3 egg omelette filled w/ country sausage, red/green peppers, onions, cheddar/jack cheeses and house special sauce) plus loaded house potatoes and sourdough dough generously pasted with sweet butter. The Dak's Attack lives up to its name, assaults your hunger at its source. The loaded potatoes feature block-cut potatoes (remember the ice cubes Grandma usta give you from her freezer?) pan griddled w/ taffy-textured strands of cheddar. Combined w/ the fluffy fat omelette, the toasted sourdough and you've got a starchaholic's dream (or one heckuva post-hangover meal- Answering for a friend). Even tho I ordered takeout, the creative in me was instantly smitten w/ the Violet Rooster's bold design. Picture Topanga-Canyon-Meets-Mimi's-Cafe-Has-a-Hippie-Baby....love it! Will definitely hafta return, this time w/ my pal David in tow, so I can better experience the breadth and depth of the Violet One! My only quibble? My tab was $26.38 for an omelette and potatoes. The prices are a bit stiff.

Madrigals in Chino has absolutely ruined me for all other carne asada tacos. Seriously, nobody else comes close. I've tried carne asada tacos at countless places, and these are in a league of their own. The meat is the star of the show - incredibly tender and bursting with flavor. It's not chewy or tough like you find at so many other taco spots. They've clearly mastered their marinade and cooking process because the carne asada is melt-in-your-mouth delicious. It's seasoned perfectly, with just the right amount of char from the grill. I honestly don't know what their secret is, but it's magic. If you're even remotely a fan of carne asada tacos, you have to try Madrigals. I'm telling you, these tacos are life-changing. Go. Now. You won't regret it. read more
