I tried the Shrimp Taco and the grilled fish Taco and both were primo. The food is made with love, you can quickly tell when you pick up your tray. My wife raved over the carne asada tacos even on the way home. We have found a new place. It's exceptionally clean and well put together. When I started eating the burrito, I realized they had given me a regular asada burrito. Iet the staff know, but instead of simply acknowledging the mistake, they asked for my order number and double checked whether I had actually ordered the surf and turf burrito. Being questioned after they made the mistake was BS. Before getting the incorrect burrito, I asked for a few extra cracker packets for my ceviche. The employee was so concerned about charging me an additional dollar for four packets of crackers than making sure my $20 burrito was prepared correctly. I don't mind paying the $1. It was the priority and penny pinching that bothered me, especially after spending around $50 on the meal. They offer an open condiment bar with onions, salsa, and chilies, yet a few crackers became the main concern. The three employees working in front, plus whoever was working in the kitchen, so this did not seem like a situation where one overwhelmed employee simply made an understandable mistake. Mistakes happen, but when they do, the response should be an apology and a quick correction, not questioning a regular customer while focusing on an extra dollar. They need to get their priorities straight. Was looking for Sunday dinner and decided to try this place for the first time. I went for the 2 taco combo with one shrimp taco, one fish taco, both breaded. The combo came with rice, beans, and a fountain drink. After I paid i noticed that they have fountain Pepsi, but only canned coke. Not sure if you can ask for canned coke instead of a fountain drink without an additional charge but I personally prefer coke over Pepsi. I decided to get dr. Pepper since I had a fountain drink cup. What I do like is you can get some lemon, onions, and chili peppers from the condiment bar. I like chili peppers and appreciate these are free whereas I have had to pay extra for a bag of 3 elsewhere. There are also an assortment of packaged sauces as well as their prepared sauces such as Chipotle and green/red salsa. The portion sizes here are good. I took the food home to eat and was pretty full by the time I ate one taco. The condiments enhanced the meal. Rice and beans were fine. For $14 total its not a bad deal. I think if I didn't do takeout and ate at the restaurant, my breaded fish would not be soggy. However, the flavor was there. I had been so excited to try this place. My husband has one by his work and he raves about it. We finally made it tonight and we were incredibly disappointed. My husband said the one near his work is much better. We ordered tacos with the sauce on the side, I have dietary restrictions so I always want to scope out sauces before I put them on. The tacos came smothered in sauce. When I called to let them know, she blamed me saying I ordered wrong and I should have specified each individual sauce. She assumed I only didn't want the salsa. They offered for us to come back and they would make new ones. It was late and going back defeated the purpose of getting take out to save time on cooking so I requested a partial refund but was told they don't do that. Stopped by here for a quick bite after a hike. I got two battered fish tacos and the shrimp ceviche. The fish tacos were freshly fried and it was a decent sized piece of fish for $5 a tacos. I do think the price is steep for what you get. The shrimp ceviche was not good. The fish was over marinated, and it was a really tough, chewy texture. The place was very clean, the staff was friendly, and since it was our first time, they walked us through the menu and helped us pick. As soon as we walked in, we felt that cool beach/surf, ocean-inspired theme throughout the restaurant. We ordered the battered shrimp tacos, which were excellent, and tried the stingray tacos too -- not something you get to eat just anywhere, and they didn't disappoint. There were multiple house-made salsas and sauces to go with everything. We also got a burrito, which ran close to $20 -- on the pricier side, but it lasted me two full days, so you can judge the value for yourself. It's a seafood spot, so the higher prices make sense once you're there. Overall, this is one of those places you really have to experience in person. I recently met my best friend here for lunch. I ordered a Grilled Fish Taco and a Hardshell Potato Taco. I was in the neighborhood for a conference and wanted to dinner to bring home. I ordered to go a shrimp bowl and grilled fish burrito. The damage on that was $40. For that price I wanted better grilled shrimp in my bowl. The shrimp didn't have good grill marks or all that flavorful, although there was a good amount of it. So for almost $20 I was a little taken aback. The fish burrito was slightly better as it was a huge burrito, however it was still considered okay and on the pricier side. She ordered two fish tacos fried, I ended up ordering one fish taco, one shrimp tacos (both fried) and one mango shrimp ceviche tostadas. The fish and shrimp tacos are hands down very tasty and delicious. One of the best in town. The mango shrimp ceviche was also excellent. My only thing is that the bottom tostada got soggy from the juice. No worries we still ate all of it. Next time I order it I will ask for more tostadas. The staff are really friendly and very helpful. If you can't decide, what they suggest are usually great. We will keep coming back. Such fantastic fish tacos. I used to be a big fan of Rubio's when they had plenty nearby me. But now that they closed the two closest to me it's slowly dropped off as being a regular place to go. Yet I never forgot how much a good fish taco hits the spot. Ensenada has those good fish tacos that are impossible not to crave more often than not. The fish is fresh, flaky, and firm where i t needs to be instead of a mushy mess. Both tacos I had were simply amazing and I was this close to order one more. The service was great. Everyone was so courteous and answered all my questions as a first-timer. And the space is fantastic, so much room and you don't feel on top of each other. I even had time to put a good dent into the book I brought along. My only gripes were the rice wasn't the best, containing some sub-par veggie elements in the corn and peas. This is especially striking because I liked the refried beans. I'm tempted to just ask for all beans next time. And the cookie I added as a treat was just kind of foul, more demonically hard and full of trail mix additives like dates, pecans, anddried coconut than more tasty elements like chocolate, caramel, or peanut butter. The cookie ruined my meal completely. Gladly, I know for next time to stay away from those evil baked items and just fill up on the goodness and joy that are the fish tacos. Came here for the first time last night after living down the street for 3 years. We came in for a late to go dinner. My immediate reaction was shocking. Lol I didn't realize how big it actually was. I ordered a combo with a fountain drink, rice, beans and 1 fish and 1 shrimp taco and a large shrimp cocktail. 1 extra fish taco also. We waited about 10minutes. Asked for extra salsa at the counter. Got home and was delighted to see how tasty the cocktail was. The portion does seem small for $21 but it is packed with shrimp. Happy to say the fish and shrimp inside the batter was seasoned well. The rice is buttery with peas and carrots and the beans are house made which is always a plus! The 4 stars is for the prices of everything. The prices are up there. We ordered lunch from here and our experience was pretty good. The business doesn't have online ordering for the Chino Hills location, so I called to order for pickup. The food was ready within 15 minutes and was hot and fresh when we picked it up. Servings were very big, especially the carne asada burrito, but also the fish tacos. Flavor was good and the fried fish had a nice flakiness to it. The meat on the carne asada taco was all well seasoned. When there are high expectations, disappointment can hit even harder. I feel comfortable writing this review because I've been here more than 20 times over the years and have recommended this place to many friends. Sadly, I now hesitate when people ask me about it because the inconsistency has become too frequent. At its best, the fish taco is excellent: crispy on the outside, tender inside, flavorful, and satisfying. But more and more often lately, the fish isn't coming out crispy, and without that texture, it honestly becomes just a mediocre fish taco that doesn't feel worth the $4.99 price tag ($2.99 on Taco Wednesday). The portions are still generous and the flavor is still there, but if the frying consistency cannot be maintained, longtime customers like me may slowly stop coming back. I was honestly surprised there was virtually no line today between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. on 5/13/26. I don't know if the owner will ever see this review, but I genuinely hope the restaurant can tighten up the process and return to the quality that made people love these fish tacos in the first place. I think I need to go a few more times but the time I went the food was on the better side but not the best tasting Mexican food I've had. The ambience is just ok and so was the service. I couldn't really customize my order at all, as I am gluten free, dairy free and soy free, I wanted to be able to at least change the option of my tortillas to corn but it didn't seem possible to them. read more
