Nice restaurant in the shoppes Loved the ambience Missed getting what I wanted... they were missing the red sauce for the chilli Rellanos and the wet burrito had to manage with the Diablo sauce. My ratings Ambience 5 star Service 5 star Drinks 5 star Food 3 star Overall 3.5 star because everything except the food was great

Happy Hour Menu
Jerome B.

I haven't been to this restaurant since it changed from Limericks Tavern to Semillas Cantina. Coming in to the restaurant i noticed that the lights were still really dim, a little hard to see inside. It took a couple minutes for someone to come for us to be sat. There were no host/hostess at the stand. We decided to sit towards the back where they had a large screen up with the football game on. We were there for the happy hour because the prices looked decent and were excited for some food items. The first two items on the menu which we wanted, Elotes and Chicharron, were all out. A little disappointing to be honest. We ended up ordering a few margaritas, michelada, street tacos, tostada ceviche, calamares, taquitos and the chimichanga. Drinks were brought out sporadically and then a couple were forgotten. Actually, we asked the server and she stated she sees the order on her electronic pad, but the ticket for some reason didn't print. I guess it only printed 1/2 the order? It was a little frustrating through we had wait a bit for our server to come back around to let them know that we were still missing drinks. A few minutes passed and for some reason the bartender had to come to our table and confirm which drinks we were missing. It was very disorganized. Finally, food started to come out starting with the calamares.. and it was totally disappointing. Itlooked and tasted like it was the leftover crumbs at the bottom of whatever was fried before hand. The ceviche we ordered was fish, and it was super fishy. We ate 1/2 of one of the 4 we got. The chimichanga was full of beans.. like it must have been filled extra to make it look full because that was all we tasted with every bite. Fortunately, the tacos were decent and the taquitos tasted good, just the portion of the taquitos were so small. The same size tortilla was used as the street tacos. Usually, the size is larger, but maybe thats only in other restaurants I've eaten at? After receiving the check, we noticed there was an error in pricing. The calamares was showing up regular price rather than the happy hour price. On top of that, we were automatically charged 20% gratuity, which they didn't really earn in my opinion. I originally asked for a table for 6, only 5 of us were able to make it. If that was me serving, I would've not have included the gratuity since that last person didn't stay. In the end, my experience wasn't great nor even good. Unfortunately, it was a $150 error and I won't be returning here as there are many other places in Chino Hills that offer better food and better service.

Taco tour
Stacy E.

I've been here a couple of times now and the food has been mid each time. The chips and salsa are just ok, not the best or worst. I got the taco tour and the tacos were super dry and flavorless. I had to ask for consommé for the birria taco, I ended up dipping all the tacos in it to get some flavor and moisture into them. I thought I'd give it another chance just in case it was a fluke, but I probably won't end up coming here again. There are so many other good Mexican restaurants I'd rather go to.

Great place for families and gatherings. Kinda weird in evenings as businesses change in the plaza.

quaint location. parking is ample. Colorful and settled in a moderately busy street. at first impressions, looks like a fun and lively place. yet, the mood was consistently bland with a few upbeat trends. Drinks were tasty and strong , food was middle of the road taste. The ambiance was best served with the music and dj in the foreground. available pool.table, even though during my 2 hr stay, no one even came close to using it. The decor largely based on a 80s to 90s club , neon lights with colorful demeanor. overall, the place has tv for sports viewing, high tables and easy access facilities. the service was kind and quick and the experience was considered a comfortable one. overall, it lacked personality and it lacked charisma. would I return? possibly, for a quick get together, a quick date or just to grab a drink. definitely not a family location, more towards a adult hang out and meet up place. 3.5 stars to 3.9 .

Potato taquitos with rotten cabbage

Do not come and eat at this place. I ordered beef taquitos and they didn't have any, so I ordered the potato taquitos and they were green with a lot of oil coming out after each bite. The cabbage was old and brown. My friend ordered the shrimp ceviche and it came out pink. The server had stated they hadn't gone food shooing since Dec 30 due to the new year. Their food menu is trash.

Enchiladas Souiza
Claudia S.

Gave it a try and it was ok. Nothings changed inside the restaurant, looks just like the previous restaurant that occupied that space. I ordered the enchiladas Souza and they were good. The refried beans and rice weren't special, so go a la carte.

Very nice place to enjoy with family and friends, food very good stuff very friendly and excellent customer service. I definitely I will come back to enjoy with my family and friends.

Ambiance: There is plenty of room inside and the staff is friendly. Love the atmosphere inside. Taste test: I loved the soup, more so than the chicken enchiladas. They put a lot of meat in the enchiladas. There is not a lot of choice for vegetarians unless you like mushrooms. They don't provide chips and salsa unless you order it. It's nice to have a Mexican restaurant close to home and I hope to try more dishes.

Albondiga soup

Ordered the albondiga soup to split with my kids, there were no potatoes and one slice of carrot. Literally :/ . I wouldn't order this soup again .

I used to love coming to this location back when it was Limericks. It was a fun local spot to get drinks and dance with friends. Now that it's Semillas Cantina it seems a little lost in what it's trying to be. The name Cantina means it's more like a restaurant and bar combo. From the experience though, it reads as a primarily a sit down establishment meant to have a club-like atmosphere. There's the long bar in the middle of the building with a di booth at the back wall facing the restaurant with tables taking up a majority of the floor space. The music is SO loud and the place is EMPTY. It doesn't make sense to the have music be so loud when most of your patrons are sitting down to eat. There's no room to hold conversation in the main area. It was really awkward to try and talk with the rest of the dinner party over the music. The waitress was nice and let us know what drinks were most popular and recommended her favorites. They l gave us complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was flavorful without being super spicy. I'm not sure what brand of chips they use but they were great, not super salty. We didn't try any of the food as we thought it would be more of bar-like experience based on the name and the music coming from the outside. It did take a while to get our drinks, which was a little annoying since the place was incredibly empty and they had two people tending the bar. The drinks were good. I tried the cucumber margarita and ordered it with no spice, but it came to the table with a chili rim. I didn't send it back as it came with a straw so it wasn't ultimately a big deal. My friends ordered the other margarita flavors and also said they were good. My favorite thing is the aesthetic of the restaurant. I love the name and the hand painted art they have on the walls. However, that's the only thing I really enjoyed. The rest of my experience was average. I don't really see myself coming back any time soon.

These are there chicken & beef taquitos delicious

I came in about midnight so it was still fairly empty, but the owner said it gets more crowded and busy around 1-2am, and closing at 4am. There's a few bars/clubs that are next to this spot so expect a lot of foot traffic and moving cars. Parking is about a block away in parking lot area but you could try your luck in parking in front of this place (don't bother). When you enter this hookah spot they not only ID you but they also pat you down to make sure you're clean. Inside is a pretty cool vibe with some fairly loud rap music playing and a few TV's playing music videos. They have a bunch of different hookah flavors and I got the Blue Ballz. Hookah is about $30 a piece. He made it in about 5 minutes and the hookah was great! The vibes were definitely good and the ambiance was quite enjoyable. If you want a spot to CHILL, this is cool - but don't come here at 1-2 am if you're not trying to be in a crowd and possibly loud people (most people are probably drunk and leaving the bars/clubs at that point) Overall, I'd definitely come back here with my friends!

The server was the sweetest and I feel bad I didn't get her name! She was calm, cool, and so pleasant to talk to. We had taken out time to wait for our sister to arrive. We ended up ordering their cheese corn, kimchi pancakes, French fries, and bulgogi tacos. We also ended up ordering lychee soju, apple mango soju, and a pitcher of Mango Cart. Our food came in waves, which was great because we were busy watching the music videos. They were super distracting and mesmerizing. I believe the kimchi pancakes were fantastic! Their French fries were on the drier side. Their cheese corn was loaded to the top and very good for their portion size. I think the bulgogi tacos were okay but a bit much. I believe I'd come back here soon. It's such a vibe and such great service. It's easy to drink here and munch away on food with good company. They're doing it right!

While waiting for our food orders from other spots, my friends and I hung out at the Piju Social Hour bar. As the re-grand opening special, they had a buy 1 get one for 5 cents deal, but their regular prices are already a great deal. My friends had the Hotter Than the Dickens ($13) and Kirin ($7.99) for both rounds. I started off with a Lychee For Me ($12) and then a Sangria ($?). We all enjoyed our drinks. If I had to give feedback to the business I would like the lychee for me to have some fresh fruit lychee as a garnish, and some diced apples in the sangria for a fruity bite. We also got a glass with 2 transaction as a part of the re-grand opening special. It was a nice surprise! Amazing location. Great place to grab a drink while hanging out at the food hall or waiting for your other food orders. They also have a TV and very friendly staff to keep you company. They even gave these complimentary spicy peanuts and spicy lobster chips. It was just too spicy for me. Will definitely be back to Piju Social Hour the next time I visit the Chino Hills Cravings by 99 Ranch food hall! Cheers!!
