Located on a section of Pomona with numerous clubs and bars Characters sticks out as it's on the end and the sign is easy to see. There's ample parking and if there's nothing in the lot, the streets have plenty available. Security was cool with no hassle. As I walked in I was expecting a greasy dive bar with sticky floors and garbage lighting. No! Total opposite. Very clean and the crowd was cool. Pool tables were pushed to the side and the stage was nice and high. Sound was phenomenal and of course the bands were awesome. It's 21+ so keep that in mind if you're interested in an upcoming show. Characters was the total opposite of what I was expecting. At least indoors it's a great place to see a show. It checks all the boxes for what I'm looking for and I'd go back 100%. Highly recommended!

When I went back outside to grab it, security told me there was no re-entry. There was no indication that this was a new rule, and we've done this plenty of times before without any issues. He also accused me of smoking weed outside when I was actually vaping, which was frustrating since he was vaping too, along with several other people in the smoking area. I tried to explain the situation politely and even offered to leave my vape in the car, but he still refused to let me back in. I accepted that I wasn't getting back in, but then I saw someone in a 49ers jersey leave, go to his car, and come right back in without any issue. That's when I called the security guard out for being a hypocrite. He clearly didn't like being called out and ended up banning me from the bar. After going there for 7 years and bringing my family and friends, it was honestly pretty disappointing to be treated that way over something that could've easily been handled differently. Kelly's was a place where my father and I would connect and sing karaoke and have created such loving memories throughout the years; from my 21st birthday, our parents anniversaries as well as other events. Sucks to see we'll have to find a new bar to go to because of the power trip of an insecure man who got upset for being called out for being a hypocrite.

I had beers on draft, i would say they did come out a little flat. Not much carbonation on them. I'm a beer guy so i definitely know when something is off. The food was like any ordinary bar food but did have taste to it i would say that. I had the chicken club sandwich and added swiss cheese to it. I'm not much of a Bacon fan but left mine on the sandwich this time because it was good and crunchy. I also ordered the tri tip chili just for kicks but completely left it on its dish. It wasn't what i expected. It came off as way too smoky for me. My girlfriend ordered the cesar salad and added chicken. The salad was solid. I wanted the salmon salad but ordering fish from a bar didnt sit right with me, i like my food great and fresh as it can be. The music was nice, seemed like locals had taken over the jukebox. Not a country music kinda guy but it was definitely catchy and cool to listen to lol I have yet to experience this place at it's peak time, but as of now ill settle with my stars as is. Cheers!

This is the shadiest seedy Bar I have ever been to in my entire life I'm shocked that it's still open. I use to come here all the time then couple years ago there was a killing here inside the bar. So I did what every other normal citizen would do I stayed away for a while. Well I just recently decided to stop by for a drink to see if things have changed. They most certainly have not there is not real security. The bartender was so rude I have never been treated like that in this place. There use to be a short fiery hyper little Mexican woman that was fast with good service and a tall curly headed thick girl here that was really sweet looks like they got the heck out of dodge or they killed them to. I don't know but the tall blonde with a man voice that they have here is the rudest bartender I have ever met in my whole life she wouldn't even tell me her name for the review. And when I asked her where were and described the other bartenders she got enraged. The outside patio is worse than inside the bar it's where everyone is out there doing drugs as if it's normal to do that in public. The bathroom is horrible it's dirty,disgusting, dark, depressing. The Haven used to host all sorts of music but in recent times they've dialed back on hosting hardcore punk shows because people can't control themselves. Security is pretty cool and aren't afraid to kick folks out for acting a fool. Parking is anywhere you'd park if you were going to the Fox or Glass House. The Haven is an awesome venue and I hope they start to host hardcore punk shows more often but I don't blame for putting down a pause.
