Just moving here to Chino a month ago from LA, I happened to see Sonora Mexican Restaurant first since its closet to my house. I have been to a lot of family owned Mexican restaurants in different parts of So Cal, and this one rates up there with the quality and taste of the food. Reminds me of my mom's cooking. This restaurant has the worse service ever, the lady that takes your orders is rude has no respect for anyone she always has an attitude seems like she's very unhappy there try working at Mc Donald's they will straighten your attitude out . I wish I would have gotten her name. The restaurant is in code violation for several issues they have no prices on the wall where the pictures of combos are also when you get your receipt they have no prices so I'm sure they are over charging people. Dammm love this place but sometimes with change things get forgotten. I've always ordered a two meat and bean and cheese chimichanga and for the first time in over 8 years the girl taking the order just said no and handed me a burrito, with a Pepsi . Been wanting To stop by, like forever, but there's always been a line and it's a one-way street, hence, no parking. However, due to the current situation/COVID-19, you're permitted to pull up and wait for your order, which they diligently bring out. The chicken on the taco, was not. My steak/carne asada, was TOO SALTY! I am very sensitive to salt, being I do not use it, so when is placed on a food item, it distinctively hits the palette fast. The burrito was good, but I should've told him no guacamole, but I didn't and I had to endure. I dislike guacamole with a passion. I love the tortillas. They weren't soft or hard, they were just Good! The carne asada was salty, but that smoked flavor, AWE Sista', it was delicious! All I needed was more cheese; MORE CHEESE PLEASE. I finally tried this place and I have to say maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Taquitos here are okay but they don't serve guacamole so prepare yourself for that. The green chilaquiles were drenched in the salsa,cheese was very skimpy and overall the plate was just okay. The beans & rice are the real winners here. We started frequenting Sonoras back in 1996 when my husband was introduced to them while working for the local car dealership, who would order food for their employees, on occasion. Since then we have returned as often as we can. Especially, after we moved up north back in 2004. Every visit back home to the Inland Empire, we stop at Sonora's. My husband spent over $200 to order the food for our family. He made sure to tell the employee Martha, that we can not have this spill in the car it happened once to our son's car from another establishment and this is a brand new Lexus. My husband asked her to please remove any and all liquid if possible to it would not spill. She gave boxes and ensured the food was not full of liquid. My husband took side roads and avoided any type of hard stops, knowing there was food in the trunk. Unfortunately, the Shredded beef soup and bean soup leaked all over the trunk of my new car. Saturating the mats. When we called back the employee Martha lacked any compassion or sympathy and gaffed off the complaint. Additionally, the food quality and presentation was gross. We were asked if the meat was Tuna by one of our guests. Another asked why it smelled like dog food. As my son tried to make a burrito, he literall stood there draining all the liquid out of his tortilla. It looked Ike a waterfall of meat juice being poured out. We removed over a gallon of liquid from the meat tray and it still has a lot left in it. The bean soup is being tossed out as well. After 25 years of being devoted and loyal customers we will never go back again. A waste of $200 for food and a destroyed trunk of a brand new $70k car. read more

Handmade Flour Tortillas and Beef Flautas! I concur with Albert E., don't ever judge a restaurant by its building aesthetics. Located in one of the most uninviting strip mall/plazas in Chino, Sonora has been my go-to spot for their fresh handmade tortillas for years. Recently, I discovered their flautas. I LOVE flautas! The flautas here are huge, not your your average sized flauta. About the size of a chimichanga. The beef flautas are my favorite! One is quite filling, especially if you get the lunch special that comes with beans and rice. My beans and rice were just OK though. Very authentic Mexican food and the customer service is always so kind and friendly. Bring cash if you want to avoid debit/credit card service fees. read more

Went to a birthday party recently and they had party trays of food brought in that came from this place. I thought the food was great so I wanted to come and try the actual restaurant. So here we are today :) The sope's were great as was the chili colorado burrito. The chicken in the sopes had an excellent marinade to it. Very tasty. They do sell bottles of beer so we had a couple of Coors light with our meal. Kind of a cold, stark, bright kitchen light atmosphere hole in the wall type place, but don't judge a book by it's cover. I went there for the first time and bought some tacos. For being street tacos, the tortillas were kinda hard. They are pretty cheap with their meat. The chorizo taco was the worst I couldn't eat it. Chorizo was spoiled u can tell it had been sitting in the fridge for weeks it had a funky smell and taste. The asada was chewy and no flavor. Bad texture as well it was like chunks of ground beef. The lengua was a bit better, it was pretty dry and it needed to be cooked longer. The chicharron taco wasn't great but better than the other ones. It had an okay taste just a bit dry. I could not try their salsa since they didn't give me any even though I asked for it 3 times. Not recommend at all read more
