This is my go-to place for menudo! They have a tomato based menudo that is really flavorful. And the portions are huge!

Horrible customer service Ordered family pack my tortillas were left out of the meal had to go back to pick them up! No complimentary salsa when you order the family pack!! You are asked to buy it, if u want it? I understand we are in pandemic but come on how much does salsa cost to make! And lastly the meat carne asada and chicken Gave my kids upset stomach. So I'd only recommend the tortillas read more

Really good food. Staff is nice and friendly. Family friendly. Must try their flour tortillas!

Never judge a restaurant by its building aesthetics. Sonora is the kind of Mexican restaurant which gives you that home cooked feeling. You know, the kind that makes you feel like your are visiting your mom, grandmother, or godmother. The moment we walked in, my wife and I were greeted with smiles and friendly service. They started us off with the the fundamentals of Mexican food, the chips and salsa. My wife enjoyed the salsa because it had the perfect kick of heat, not to hot or too mild. Next was the drinks, I ordered the horchata and my wife had the agua de tamarindo. Both drinks were perfect, not overly sweet like other places make them. For breakfast I order the huevos Mexicano and my wife had the huevos rancheros, oh so good. We also tried the dollar tacos, they are small but delicious. I typically do not eat as much as I did that day, but the food is that good. I couldn't let any go to waste. The best part was the freshly made flour tortillas. They are just like my grandmother use to make. Sonora is my new place to buy fresh tortillas that is 2 minutes away from home. The City of Chino has plenty of Mexican restaurant options but Sonora is the one that has climbed to the top of my preference list. read more

Sonora Restaurant - Their business card - Mexican Near Me - Chino, California

It seems like I'm finding out more places for me to grub at everytime I visit my hometown and more reason for my wife to like Chino! We found the place from Restaurant.com, which offers discounted gift certificate. The certificate was for $10 off any $20 order and you have to dine in. So it was 7 of us that decided to try it out and see if it will be one of our local eatery everytime we're in Chino. Every Mexican restaurant, I usually order the tacos because if they can't prepare the most simple Mexican food, then anything else is not worth eating. I order the Carnitas and Asada tacos and they came out pretty good (see the picture I posted)! And, they had a special for two tacos and a drink. The wife liked what she got also, beef and chicken tacos and so did the rest of the family. The fresh squeeze orange juice tasted good too. And, on the way out order the fresh tortillas, they were great! All in all the food was great and the owner was the one serving us, so pretty much took care of all our needs. I can see myself coming back here everytime with friend and family with or without the gift certificate. read more

I went there for the first time and bought some tacos. For being street tacos, the tortillas were kinda hard. They are pretty cheap with their meat. The chorizo taco was the worst I couldn't eat it. Chorizo was spoiled u can tell it had been sitting in the fridge for weeks it had a funky smell and taste. The asada was chewy and no flavor. Bad texture as well it was like chunks of ground beef. The lengua was a bit better, it was pretty dry and it needed to be cooked longer. The chicharron taco wasn't great but better than the other ones. It had an okay taste just a bit dry. I could not try their salsa since they didn't give me any even though I asked for it 3 times. Not recommend at all read more

Bought some Tortillas last Sunday and they were terrible, they lacked ingrediencies like lard or something. Definitely not the same as before. read more

A total "hole in the wall", with delicious, homemade style food. The place is small, clean and friendly. The waitress was so nice. She took good care of myself and my wife and made sure our food was made exactly the way we wanted. Probably not a place for a first date, but definitely a spot for a casual meal. read more

I just want to say I'm very surprised that this place isn't more busy. The food is great and the customer service is good as well. I love the tacos and Pancho villa burrito. I live the red and green salsa. If you want some good tacos or food that taste homemade I recommend coming here read more

Sonora Restaurant - Tacos, rice and beans - Mexican Near Me - Chino, California

I just recently went to Sonora Restaurant and let me just say that they exceeded my expectations! I ordered a Torta de Carnitas. It is the best torta I've ever eaten. The carnitas were so tender and flavorful. The crispy fresh lettuce and tomatoes were a perfect compliment to the carnitas. The lady in the cashier was so helpful and friendly! I would definitely recommend this place to my friends! read more

This place has my favorite burritos. They make their tortillas in house and it adds a better flavor to their burritos. Their tacos are also really good. read more

Hands down best sopes around. The portion is perfect and the toppings are the cherry on top. Super authentic place, loved the rice and beans that came with the dish (2sopes plate). The service is a bit slow, but only because the food is made so fresh. I didn't mind, gave my brother and I some time to chat. They also brought us free chips and salsa and even gave us a refill. Get the Horchata. Just do it. read more

Delicious homemade tortillas. They are $6 a dozen. Tortillas a large burrito size. I come about twice a month to get tortillas here.

Been coming here since 2000, always great food and always a great staff. You have to try the Home Made Flour Tortillas. To Die For. I used to get The Grandpas Special Breakfast Buritto. The BOMB. Oh and the Salsa is great. read more

It was my first time visiting this restaurant, when I got there the cashier was rude. I had told her that it was my first time but seemed that she didn't care. I was giving her my order, but the phone rang she then answered and left me talking, so I had to wait for her to fished taking order by phone. I think that she should of told the person on phone to hold on please, but she didn't. The meat of tacos were salty. read more

I don't recommend this place really bad customer service and the food it's not that good. We where eating in there but the owner came out of the kitchen and tell us they not allow any pets my dog was in her stroller and it's a Mini Pomerinian so never go back to this location read more

Went in at about 1pm on a weekday (no line) and was greeted by a very friendly girl at the counter. Ordered two carne asada burritos, a Machaca burrito, and a cheeseburger/ fries. The burritos are huge! My son and I loved the carne asada burritos, my father-in-law remarked that the Machaca burrito was one of the best he'd ever had, and my toddler son really liked the cheeseburger. The tortillas are homemade - and it makes all the difference in the world. I was offered salsa and the girl gave me four different types to try - which I really appreciated. I will definitely be a repeat customer. They take cash or card (card transaction is a .50 cent charge) but I don't have any complaints when good food is involved. read more

Got the family pack for $30. Quart of beans-Good Quart of rice-Good Dozen homemade flour tortillas-Great! Quart Carne Asada-JUNK Buy your own asada elsewhere and grill it. Their flour tortillas are great though! They'll compliment your own asada. The asada they serve is worse than ground beef. It's fatty, chewy, and bottom dollar quality. read more

This place is super small and hidden but may I say they have the most amazing delicious home made flour tortillas. They sell Out quick because they are so good you can eat them fresh out of the package when there hot. They are thee best the food is also great and it's a cozy little spot. You have to come check this place out. read more

Ever drive by a place a thousand times and say, "we should try that place," and constantly not go? That was me and my wife for the longest time with Sonora, probably because in So-Cal good Mexican restaurants are everywhere, so you always assume the one closest to your home just won't be "AS" good and you'll ultimately be disappointed. Well lets put that to rest right now, Sonora is amazing Mexican food, huge proportions, reasonable prices, tortillas made on location, a great deal of "WOW FACTOR." I've lived in Chino my whole life and places like Mi Ranchito, El Rey, and RIP El Rancho Grande have been institutions for good Mexican food, throw that in with the next door Pomona and Ontario spots, and I'm at a point where Mexican restaurants either have it or they don't. Sonora went to the top 3 after just a couple visits, now I'm bugging my wife, "Let's do $1 Taco Night," or "I'm craving a chicken burrito," etc. Basically, I'm trying to find reasons to eat at Sonora. If you're in the area, and you come to eat, make this a stop, you won't be disappointed. Ambiance and decor may turn some people off, but if want to marvel at your dining setting, drive to Las Casuelas in Palm Springs... At Sonora it's more about the food than the dine-in experience, and the food here is really, really good. read more

Say it with me three times "Chile Verde!" ..."Chile Verde!"......"Chile Verde!" When going to any mexican restaurant I judge them on their chile verde. By far the best I have had ever. I have has catering done by them and eaten there on the weekends. When I had catering, no joke everyone was asking where the restaurant was that I got the chile verde. The only negative is the wait time but I call ahead :) read more

disappointed, just make sure you have the lady who takes the phone order confirm it twice, they made a mistake on my order and refused to change it. read more

My family and I are new to town and were cruising around in search of an authentic Mexican food joint and, well, we hit the JACKPOT when it came to Sonora! Despite the lack of aesthetics and people there (we were the only ones), Sonora's far exceeded our expectations when it came to friendliness by the cashier/waitress/cook and tastiness in food!!!! There's definitely a family-feel to this place and Jeanette, the cashier/waitress/cook, is as sweet as sweet can be. She treated us like family, despite being total and complete strangers, and made sure we had everything we needed, and actually threw in some unexpected extras that any restaurant would charge extra. I love supporting family businesses like Sonora's and appreciate the family-touch that large restaurant chains cannot offer. I will definitely return here, if not for the food, for the new friends I made at Sonora's. read more

This place has fallen so far that you are mistaken to consider its great past. Nothing is better than adequate for the food. Service is sadly resting on laurels long past. They don't care if you go any place else it's obvious. Today the chili relleno was a greasy mess with very little cheese. The sauce was from a can and chilly. The enchilada was a rolled up tortilla covered in a canned red sauce. If there was cheese in it then it escaped before making it to my plate. I ordered a soft drink from the fountain as I would have liked a refill... But obviously staying out of sight prevents anyone from serving. Another time saving move the have is to just give you a fork and not a knife that must save on washing knives. Bottom line this place is a yuck, don't bother. read more

This place is right down the street from my house, and let me tell you...it's freaking good! Their carnitas are my favorite, but their carne asada, al pastor and chicken, are right up there too! They have very tasty food. Only bad thing is...that they close waaaay too early! (7pm) read more

Our coworker insisted that we come here because of the phill burrito. We ordered that and a chile relleno plate - since i always try the chile relleno on any mexican place we go to. The phill burrito is HUGE. The burrito is at a good level of spicy - it is very spicy but you will keep eating and eating!! The chile relleno was pretty good too - not too soggy not too oily. The sauce that soaks the chile relleno is very delicious too. The rice had a lot of flavor (hints of garlic) - not like other restaurants where it looks like they just added orange colored powder to the rice. You get your money's worth. Huge servings for big flavor. Will definitely come back again! read more

Last time I came to this place I was very disappointed the food was gross! It tasted like it was old! Man was I so disappointed.. It's sad, the experience of the food was bad enough to not want it anymore.. I don't understand why the owner would let the food go from one extreme to the next.. Consistency is a major factor in serving food that's why there are recipes.. I wish the original owner would have never sold the place.. read more

Walked in. Ordered. Few people seated eating. Looked like one other waiting for their order. I ordered a breakfast burrito and a small cup of menudo. Nothing special. 25 mins later I'm still waiting. What are you doing back there. Making the menudo from scratch and cutting the bacon for my burrito off the pig ? I'm good on never coming back again. Too bad I didn't get to try the food. Took so damn long they probably had the chickens back there laying the eggs. read more

I have ate at Senora for over 30 years. I'm sad to say that today will be my last time. The worker asked me to put a mask on to pick up my takeout order. Meanwhile people are dining in without masks. The mask mandate is over. This is America. Land of the free. I went in a few weeks ago when there was an actual "mask mandate" and that worker didn't make me put a mask on. Makes no sense. I will be sharing this info with all my fellow freedom loving patriots read more

Made a stop before church this past week with my boyfriend. We tried the lengua, asada, and carnitas tacos. I wasn't a huge fan of the lengua, but the asada was okay, though not what I expected at all -- it was as if they had spiced the meat differently than other taco places. It was good, just...different. And, weird to say, definitely not greasy enough. Though whether that's good or bad is another issue. The service was excellent though -- nice people, friendly, welcoming. Not the best, but definitely not the worst food, with great customer service. I wouldn't go out of my way to get here, but if you have a hankering for very cheap tacos ($1 tacos Monday thru Friday), it's not bad. read more

Tortillas are very authentic. I ordered carne asada burrito and the meat was dry and it was hard to tell if it was ever real! I like the salsa bar. I went when it was still hot in the mornings. They don't run the AC! It was impossible to eat inside. The worst part is it took like 20 minutes to get my food. I heard a lot talking. I know the meat was already cooked because it definitely was not fresh! What took so long!? I wouldn't come back. There's a lot better out there! Like chilitos on Euclid. read more
