    Dosa plate special
    Gene W.

Came here cuz we had a long day and this was one of the few Indian food joints open after 10 pm. Nothing disappointing about this small eatery. In fact, it must be a "known hidden gem" since there were at least 6 tables full of diners in this smallish restaurant. We ordered the dosa plate special that came with your choice of protein filling (we chose butter chicken), 2 small bread-like appetizers, and a small dessert. The dosa was thin and massive (looked to be 2 feet diameter), and filled with a generous helping of butter chicken. The chicken vindaloo was a perfect spice level, and came with naan. The 2 dishes were perfect for 4 small dinners, as we had 4 late night diners. Service was friendly and attentive, felt like a family run establishment. The value was excellent as we left satisfied with tax and tip under $40 CDN. We just brushed the extensive menu and can't wait to try out other items.

Our regular fav spot in Vancouver for South Indian food. Great service and truly authentic food. Highly recommend the thali, if yo want a sampler of South Indian food. Their curries and dosas are also really good.

We love this place! After a week in India we were craving a South India Thali plate and wow, we hit the jackpot at Madras Spice. The Dosa was amazing, the yellow dal perfectly spiced, and all the dishes blended so well our mouths came alive! What a treat. Also, lots of local Indians were dining here as well, which is always great indication.

New Indian restaurant along the busy street of Fraser. nowadays most parking here is either metered or pay parking unless you wish to park in residential area and walk. Small place and just like any other Indian restaurant the smell of the spices are strong and sometimes it will make you salivate for hunger hahahhahaha, the only thing is the smell stick on your clothing. Not the cleanest place on earth but also not the dirtiest. The service is fast and homey considering it was almost full when I visited, Not sure if they have a washroom when I came it was like a "hit and Run" im on a hurry, just wanna really try the place, since Indian cuisine is one of my favorite dishes in the world. I believed the carrying product here is the dosa, the place offered a variety of them, but today im hungry and I want to have something filling and a bit heavy so I ordered chicken biryani,im kinda skeptical because the order came so fast,i have no idea if the meal is already prepared before I came,Well its still hot and the presentation of the dish is very Indian I loved it and because I am starving I forgot the thought if its pre-cooked or not. The chicken is so tender and delish, the basmati rice is so nice and the smell is so good,at home I also used basmati rice, even it is more expesive but it was so good, long grains and very very good to use in cooking fried rice, they don't stick to each other, the dish comes with one boiled egg plus two side dish that I don't really know what are they, but tasted good. next time I would like to try the dosa. Since this is not a big place maybe it can only houses lessthan 30 patrons. No wifi but you get the Telus or shaw free wifi around, but good luck it is unsecured and slower than a turtle. Good for kids because I saw a kiddie meal from their menu, the menu is hard copy very neat that is one thing I like with restaurants. For group?well maybe since its not so big small group will do, if you love Indian cuisines then you should check this place. the pricing of the foods is just right. I must give 4 starbut when I came I don't see the cleanliness I am looking first to a place im going to eat. Interior decors is simple, theres few indian vases in corners and the wall is very colorful, theres still balloons inside that they used during the opening. Accept all major credit cards, debit and cash.apple pay is not yet available. Good luck to this new business.

This is one of the best South Indian must try place in Vancouver. Their rava Dosa , Masala Dosa chicken 65 , Thali which I have tried are must try dishes. Chef raja is very nice humble . Prices are very reasonable, and service is fast .

Been here a few times here but our go to is butter chicken and madras spice dosa. Delicious! Rich flavour in the butter chicken. Must try if you haven't!

I had heard from few people about Madras Spice so i thought of giving it a try all the way driving from Surrey. #Yup i am that crazy for south indian food n that too for dosas.# Undoubtedly they have professional chefs as the Red Seal certification is displayed and you can see the skill in the food quality, taste and presentation. I tried Egg dosa which could have been better if they had added another egg as it seemed to be cooked with one egg only. Pretty bland and plain. My friend ordered spicy masala dosa which was fine too. We didn't find anything extra ordinary special . We still drool over sambar from Mayuri dosa in surrey then here. I wish i had bigger appetite to taste few more things on menu as the names were fascinating but nah.. Decor of the restaurant or i should call it small cafe is nice. Its bright colour mix of orange and green. A bit of South indian Colours touch#(U shuld check out colourful and beautiful sarees they wear and white flower in the hair) #sorry for going astray .Why am i talking about clothing when i am writing food review. The owner is a friendly guy and he seemed to have some regular customers then us as people were coming and talking to him. Definitely , a visit is required if you are south indian food lover. More cleaned washrooms and an air condition on a hot summer day would get them more stars from me at least. It was hot in there at 8:00 pm at night coz its summer time but no air conditioner.

    Bindi pulikuzhambu

Ordered some take-out from here one evening after learning of their large vegetarian menu. I ordered the Madras spice veg curry and the Bhindi pulikuzhambu (okra), which both come with rice and bread. They were able to do everything vegan for me (and thus swapped out the bread for dosa). Both dishes were tasty, but without the depth and complexity of many other Indian places in town. Extremely inexpensive: $10.99 plus tax for each of the veggie curries, which is a steal, especially with the accompaniments. I'd be happy to order from here again.

A solid 3.5 star. This is my first time here, but my wife has been here a couple of times. She's the one that wanted me to try it out. I'm so glad that I did. We came here for dinner, and as soon as we walked into the restaurant the air was filled with spices and wonderful goodness. The decor is simple. I think the tables and chairs were left over from the previous business. You can tell that the restaurant used to be a Bubble World as they only attempted to cover up some of the decor. But who's here to talk about decor. I can honestly say that the food here is legit. They offer many dishes that is of all regions of India. There were dishes on the menu that I've never seen at any other Indian restaurant. We started with the fried fish appetizer. It was nicely seasoned, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I wanted to try something new, so I ordered the uthappam without knowing what it is. It was surprisingly delicious. It was a thin rice pancake, that had onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños cooked into it. Kinda a cross between an okonomiyaki and naan. Can't really describe. You guys just gotta go and check it out. We also had the goat curry. Sorry, forgot to take a picture of this one. The curry came with a side of rice and paratha. This dish was yummy. So flavourful, and the goat meat just melted in my mouth. I thought the food was a solid 4 star. But I question the cleanliness of the front of house. There was litter in the dining area and extra settings were not removed - hope they change out ALL the utensils left on the table after diners are done. It makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. Also, the lone server could use more training. Our waitress was very nice, but lacked communication skills and confidence. All in all, I will return for more because the food is yummy and prices are reasonable.

Forage in your fridge or pantry? BZZZZTT! Wrong! The right answer is to set out for a late night traffic-free drive and head straight to the aptly named Dosa Factory. Or, for the not-so-outgoing kind, order delivery via Uber Eats. Been there, done that! Foodie Factor: Each and every dish that we have had the pleasure of trying here has been delish, from the perfect Medhu Vada (the right level of crispy on the outside and tender on the inside), the oh-so-tasty Onion Rava Masala Dosa with Paruppu Podi (sprinkled generously with gun powder), the Gobhi Manchurian (so so good that it got me nostalgic!), the yummy goat biryani, the different flavorful curries, the spot-on green Coconut Chutney and Sambhar, to the refreshing Indian coffee. Top off the sumptuous meal with mukhwas or sugar-coated saunf (fennel seeds) when you visit the counter to pay the bill, and the entire end-to-end Desi meal experience is complete! Service with a Smile: What best complements the delicious food on offer here is the fantastic, friendly and prompt service, even at 1 AM! Hats off and kudos to Bhakti and co. for serving us hungry souls post-midnight, not just with yummy chow but also with their genuine smiles :) Ambiance & Vibe Check: Given the mostly Desi crowd at all hours from day to night, the babble of conversations, the quality cuisine being served, plus the ambiance and decor with larger-than-life frames containing snippets of India's culture and its monuments, it's perfectly reasonable to feel as is you've been transported to the country itself for the entirety of your visit! Talk about a holistic and immersive meal experience which is great for dates, group meetups, and even solo treats! Parking Pain or Perk: Parking along Kingsway during rush hours is no cakewalk, and the limited street parking makes it a tad bit challenging. Cue, one or more times of circling the block! If you do get lucky, rest assured that parallel parking to fit into a tight spot by the busy road will whet your appetite (though you might lose it in a jiffy if you make a dent on the street before getting to make one on the plate!) Bang for Your Bite (Value/ROI): Given the good portion sizes along with the quality of food and service, plus unlimited bottled water, you get a fair deal for the price you pay without feeling like you're splurging. Be mindful though that the EBTT syndrome (read, Eyes Bigger Than Tummy) will ensure that you end up ordering way more than you had planned to, so it's more likely than not that you will get an inflated bill with leftovers to take home. Clean-o-meter: The place is pretty neat, thanks to the attentive cleaning staff who are constantly on their toes, attending to plates and tables that warrant their attention. The restrooms were A-OK. All in all, my mother would approve, I think! Overall: Needless to say, I'll be back here soon, risking the EBTT and ensuing food coma, just to enjoy the food-induced high! Highly recommend! *BURP*

But disappointed my previous order made 2 meals when ordered through delivery app. When in person, portions were 1/2. Staff were very friendly and I believe the owner came up to us to chat. Nice! I still highly recommend! Apparently they have a weekend buffet as well, though the chafing stations I saw only held 12 various sized small to medium dishes. Would I order again? In a heartbeat! Would I question the portion sizes to the owner on my next visit? Absolutely!!! Why do I get 2X the portions when ordering through delivery app rather than in person? But still, I rank this the best sambar I've had in Vancouver (next to my own).
