I think I first encountered Marine Layer through targeted online marketing on Facebook. Ok ok, say…read morewhat you will about companies collecting information on me and then using it to spend... well... more money. In this instance it worked because I really just loved the design. The story goes: Guy meets girl. Girl throws away guy's old shirt. Guy loved old shirt because it was soft. Guy wonders, why can't all shirts be this soft from the start? I walked into the first Marine Layer store when I was out in Seattle. I was surprised to find this store here at Ponce City Market. Naturally I walked in and looked at the designs. To be quite honest, the prices here are steep but the design, fit and comfort are second to none. I can't get all my clothes here (because I'll be REAL poor) but I do occasionally get one or two items that I then treasure. Although most of the clothing they sell are manufactured in SF or LA, some of the products come from overseas. I also found out here if you donate some of your old clothes, you can get coupons to be used in the store. In fact, there is now a small section of clothing made from old clothes! pretty neat.... Although walking into the store is nice to be able to browse and try on clothes, now that I know what size fits me, I can do all my ordering online. Again, this is expensive but the clothing designs are top notch. Very much a west coast vibe going on here. If you haven't been yet, I suggest giving them a try. You might find out that you like them... a lot!

I bought 600$ dollars worth of clothing from them the day before and came back to exchange the baggy joggers for the leggings. The woman who was a short very thin white woman with blonde hair did everything but accuse me of stealing my purchase with the full receipt in front of her. I was given an appropriate discount on my purchase yesterday and today she said she would not give me the same.... Not sure why the rudeness and confusion and lack of professionalism existed in this exchange but i chose to walk out without completing my mission of getting the pants that look best on me. Pretty upsetting!

When I was wearing plus…read moresizes, I got in the habit of shopping online rather than in stores, due to the broader selection. These days my sizes are easier to find in stores, yet I still mostly shop online. Returning things usually ends up being what brings me to the store. Despite this, the sales people are always very friendly and attentive. They always offer to help me find something or offer their opinion (if I ask for it). I am not a pay-retail kind of shopper, and the staff doesn't look down their noses at me if I mention looking for a bargain. To me, it is a nice environment. I don't doubt the experiences that others have had there; I had similarly poor experience at a different Loft store recently. But maybe things have changed at the Emory Point store since the poor reviews from 2016 and 2018. This Loft store has a good selection of sizes and I like being able to see the new styles they have on offer, which they seem to update pretty regularly. I even have bought some things in store!

I ended up coming to this store and let's just say I was HIGHLY AMAZED!! Aesthetically- this store is beautiful; well lit, clothes organized, mannequins well dressed, there was really nothing bad I could say about this store. I was greeted upon walking in, asked several times if I needed help - and it wasn't intrusive. Everyone was super helpful and the clothes were very stylish and trendy. The only one thing that I've noticed (especially since I've been to a few Nike factory stores in a few different states) is that the prices here at this store were a bit higher than other stores that I've been too. However, that could've very well been Georgia, the stores in NC were a little cheaper. There's a fitting room, a sitting section - to be honest this looks like a brand new store. Overall, everything about this store was 5 star - I would definitely go back!
