It is pretty easy to give pies and milk shakes 5-star reviews; which probably accounts for the majority of their high score. The service is pesky attentive and sugary friendly. Food arrives quickly after your order. A clean comfortable restaurant. My wife has a solid objective process for evaluating salads. She uses the 3-star rated Chick-fil-A salad as the standard to compare all others against. Unfortunately, Mad Eats' Asian Chicken Salad didn't make the cut to earn a Chick-fil-A minimum rating of three stars. It was a big boring bowl, that desperately needed something more to excite her tastebuds and make it worth the $11.45. The "Ultimate BLT" is described as "Piled with apple wood smoked bacon." Two words set the expectations high, "Ultimate and Piled." The sandwich was neither. It was fair. The lettuce was "Piled" not the bacon. A better description would be "with bacon" or stated as it is often done to alert individuals with food allergies; "contains Bacon." "Ultimate" is certainly not the word I would use to describe the sandwich. Food was good , I ordered the chicken tenders with the potatoes and gravy and green beans. It was all very good, but they don't give you enough gravy to eat with your chicken tenders. I am also a diabetic and normally only eat half of my meal because of that, I usually save the rest of it and take it for lunch the next day but when I ask if they had to go box so I can take the rest of my meal, they said they were out of to go boxes. I spent over 50 bucks for myself and my son to eat dinner there. How can you be out of the go boxes when you're supposed to be a better upscale restaurant and you charge people that amount for the food. I was quite frustrated about that when the waiter kind of gave me this look like I was asking for the fish because I wanted to go when I explained that I am a diabetic and cannot eat all my food. He brought me back a cup and lid. Again, the food is good. The service is not the greatest and definitely not a great thing to not have to go boxes for the amount of money you charge for your food. If this is a way for the restaurant to saves a buck It's definitely not the way to do it. I will not be back. read more

We ordered onions rings and fried pickles, the buffalo and ranch mac and cheese, half chicken platter with mashed potatoes, biscuits, and coleslaw, and a mad burger. The onion rings, fried pickles, and the burger were all very good. The mac and cheese tasted like noodles soaked in milk with some buffalo sauce, definitely was not worth the $14. Overall the only things we actually did not regret ordering was the onion rings, fried pickles, and the burger. Even the cinnamon butter and biscuits were funky. It is definitely worth the drive to come up here, especially for a fun date night or family meal. We have come twice now and prefer to order a few share plates and split a shake. I highly suggest the hot chicken tots. I was skeptical to try them, but they are tasty and fun and a good mix of flavors in a great sharable plate. The chicken tenders are also great and while they are set up to be an individual meal, we love to split them up among ourselves and make them a shareable. Also, the brisket nachos are so so good! I am a sucker for good brisket, especially on nachos, so this is a no-brainer. So far, our favorite shake is the Chunk. It can easily be split after a meal between two adults (and a toddler). Service can be slow at dinner time, as it is pretty popular. That said, our food came cold on one of our visits and we didn't get push back to fix it. If was our first time here and we were greeted by the friendliest host who gave us a really nice introduction. The menu is overwhelmingly extensive so it'll take time to find our favorites. The portions are huge so you'll wanna take some to go if you want a chance at trying their desserts which we regretfully did not. Next time we will start with dessert and a milkshake first! This is a decent restaurant. For food, I ended up trying out the buffalo chicken mac and cheese. This was a big bowl of mac and cheese with buffalo chicken/blue cheese mixed in. Despite it sounding kind of strange, it actually tasted great. The buffalo sauce/blue cheese blended nicely with the cheese sauce that was present in the mac and cheese. The only problem with this place is it took quite a while for me and my family's food to come out (nearly 40 minutes). So, if you are in a rush, not a place I would recommend coming to. Hit and miss on the food, but go for the milkshakes. I had the chicken fried meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Good concept, good chicken fried meatloaf, and real mashed potatoes. But...the gravy tasted like it was from a jar of premade gravy you can buy at any grocery store, and the garlic green beans had so much garlic, so many garlic pieces it was overwhelming, not complimentary. On the other hand, my granddaughter had the nachos under 'shared plates', that was a meal in and of itself and delicious. We also ordered the fried pickles and onion rings - not generous on the portion, but adequate. The ring batter was good, but...not much else to say on that. The fried pickle consisted of pickle spears not pickle coins like you often see, and I enjoyed that difference. Yet another ordered the Four Cheese Mac & Cheese that was as dry as toast. Nice concept but delivered all wrong. Rather than served in a bowl so all the cheesy goodness could mix and mingle, it came on a 10" or so shallow pan-like bowl, so all the cheese with all that square footage, just fell off the macaroni only the shallow dish, leaving the macaroni high and dry. And then there are the best shakes you will ever have. A couple of us ordered the Goonies Never Say Die shake- chocolate and peanut butter in a perfectly smoothed blend, mini-M&M's clinging frozen to the outside of the tall glass, a chocolate covered pretzel rod, whipped cream, big fat straw...amazing... The menu is varied, from creative breakfast offerings to the above and more, we will return for a 3rd time at some point in the future. With a little tweaking this place could be amazing. Fun as it is, just don't count on the food being the thing, 'the thing' is the shakes in my opinion. read more

The nacho chips were thick and crunchy, had a cilantro cream sauce, some cheese, lettuce and tomato, with a bit of brisket here and there. The chips that had something on them were decent, but there were a lot of naked chips on the tray. The tacos were good, brisket had a sweet bbq sauce topped with lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Sides were Mexican street corn and cilantro rice. All in all, it was a nice little place to stop on our afternoon drive down Route 66. read more

Where most places have pickle chips Mad Eats has pickle spears. Very tasty and a great to see someone doing it differently. The onion rings were just as good. I love it when you can bite into an onion ring and the whole onion doesn't come out of the coating. MadEats makes a great onion ring. For dinner I had the chicken fried meatloaf... Ate here for the first time a month ago, and the food and menu were perfect. Came in this evening to find a changed menu, where they had taken off the fried chicken basket of all items, and have replaced it with food that either has no flavor whatsoever, or so much of a heat that it's inedible. Food ordered this evening: MAD queso- this was easily the best part of the meal, however we missed the elote queso Kids short stack- pancakes had no flavor. My daughter wouldn't even eat half of a pancake. Eggs tasted like there was little to no yolk, tasted like just store bought egg whites. Fish and Chips- 2 measly pieces of fish that tasted like it came from the frozen section of a grocery store, and fries with no seasoning Grilled chicken chimichanga- chicken had no flavor, the shell had no flavor, the only thing with flavor was the pico, which was ok at best Fish tacos- yet again, no flavor to the fish, beans were ok but had a bite to them Taco bowl- this had so much heat and spice, with the jalapeños removed, that it was practically inedible The service was not attentive at all.
