We finally visited this midtown icon we've been hearing about since we moved to Tulsa. Now we know why Tulsa natives rave about it. It had a busy and happy atmosphere. We could tell there were a lot of repeat customers. The diners were enjoying their food and the servers seemed happy to be there. They seemed to enjoy talking to their regulars. I got chicken fried chicken and Dan got chicken fried steak. Both were good, but mine was better. That might be because I always prefer chicken fried chicken. The way the Brookside diner prepares chicken fried chicken is outstanding. I got a large piece of chicken that filled my plate. It was also thick. Some diners pound thin pieces of chicken to the point it's so thin that it is overdone in the time it takes to get the breading crisp. Not Brookside. They produce a perfect chicken fried chicken, nice and crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. I noticed a chalk board listing the specials. The day we were there, it was meatloaf. I also noticed some tempting deserts which I plan to get when I don't eat such a large meal. I enjoyed my experience at the Brookside Diner. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

Fun and popular place for lunch, quite busy on a Sunday morning. Excellent service all around. We both got the 2X2X2 breakfast - 2 eggs, your choice of 2 bacon or 2 sausage and 2 pancakes. While driving down South Peoria (Brookside) we noticed Brookside Diner. It was close to dinner time and thought we would give it a try. I'm glad we did. There is plenty of parking and plenty of seating. Our waitress was one of the best we've ever had. I did not get her name, she was friendly with a sense of humor and seemed to really enjoy her job. We ordered onion rings as appetizer. Onion rings are fresh made not store bought. My wife ordered grilled pork chops with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and brown beans. We both were surprised at the size of the pork chops and chicken fried steak. The dinner rolls are homemade. We both enjoyed our dinner. And had enough to take home for another meal. I'm sure we will be coming back again the next time we are in the neighborhood. read more

The Brookside location staff was great. Ordered fish/chips - the fish was nothing more then frozen fish patties (Wal-Mart frozen fish would be better then this). The fries were over done. Had an upset stomach after I left. Won't be going back. read more

My wife and I both were thinking about a salad today for lunch. A salad with crispy chicken. And not a fast-food franchise salad. I wanted to go somewhere that had friendly service. Where the employees and the owner cares about the quality of the food that they set in front of their customers. The reviews for Brookside Diner had the rating. 4.5 stars on Google and Yelp. That is a strong indicator of a solid diner. Pictures of Brookside Diner's breakfasts and chicken fried steak seem to dominate as diners' favorites. The breakfast menu and the pictures of the breakfast plates will get me back in the door. Inside the restaurant is clean and comfortable. The service is prompt. The employees are very friendly. The owner made a tour of the dining area, checking on everyone. He also owns Yummy Subs and More in Broken Arrow, which offers excellent daily special sandwiches. Try it if you haven't Our salad orders were the Chicken Avocado and the Brookside Chicken. Both with the breaded fried chicken breast. These are generous plates of food. A pile of salad vegetables and two large breasts sliced up in bite sized pieces. The chicken covers the plate of salad. A wide selection of your favorite house made dressings are available. Creamy Italian for my wife's Chicken Avocado and my favorite, Thousand Island for the Brookside Chicken. Check the pictures. I usually do not complain but me and my girl just ordered two meat lovers skillets with toast and a drink. When we got our food we recieved on skillet not the meat lovers eggs are fried hard not over medium no toast got a biscuit no gravy instead. The other is an omelette of some random variety no toast a pancake instead. To make everything worse it's all extremely cold. Seems like it was prepared last night. It's all like dried out type cold. I'm not sure you could so thoroughly mess up every single thing about an order if it was planned ahead of time. Not one single thing was right and what did show up is inedible. I will never spend money with this place again. In fact I would not recommend this to somebody I dislike. Worst experience with any restaurant ever in Tulsa. I think I'm going to ad this review to any place that I can just because this has been such a terrible experience. Really unless you enjoy gambling with your health and food and possible allergies I would never suggest ordering from brookside diner. Really disappointing. read more

Hit this about 9 am on a Sunday. Immediate seating was available. Server and service was prompt. Their menu is fairly standard for diner fare - skillets stand out, but I went with a meat lovers omelet and a pancake for a small upcharge. My buddy had a Denver omelet. My omelet had bacon, sausage, and ham. Appeared to be a 3-4 egg omelet. Generous but not silly sized. I chose hashbrowns which were nice and crispy on the outside, how I like it. The pancake was outstanding - fluffy, but just right texture and size. Warm syrup accompanied it. Again, service was friendly and appropriate. I'll be back - I see why it's rated well. read more

Such friendly staff!! Lots of regulars and lots of friendly neighborhood conversations! I ordered the. Rueben and it was a solid choice. I usually never order onion rings, but I happened to see some on a nearby table and couldn't resist. They were freshly homemade and had a nice flavor and crunch. I had 6 good sized rings. Hubby had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and said it was definitely better than most of the ones he's had. Hi everyone my family and I went to this restaurant and let me tell you the service is fast we had eggs and bacon and fruit a ham omelet and hamburger and fries and hash brown skillet and the food was hot and fresh and the portions were huge. We got so full. They have amazing pancakes and french toast but their skillets are also tasty. If you like corned beef hash, get it on the skillet and ask for crispy. For dinner, they have daily specials (some not on the menu) like Monday Meatloaf or Wednesday Lasagna. They bake fresh giant rolls but you can also request garlic toast instead. While in Tulsa on a Saturday morning, The Wife, The Kid and I got hangry, so they let me pick a new spot for breakfast. After looking at the local options, I decided we'd give Brookside Diner a shot. Pulled up, walked in and were seated immediately. Wait staff, while busy, were cheerful and friendly. The Kid opted for spaghetti and meatballs, which were excellent. Sauce was a tad watery in the bowl, but the flavors were on point. The Wife had what seemed like a whole ham with eggs and hash browns. Turns out it was only a half ham steak, but we all three ate on it. I opted for 3 scrambled eggs, 2 sausage patties, which is my normal breakfast, with the addition of a side of gravy and hashbrowns. All items were fantastic and well executed. Potatoes were cooked properly, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
