I went in to find a suit for a wedding I am going to in 2 days. I understand this is last minute but I had no other choices (existing suit trouble). Anyways, I went to this store because I noticed a 10% off sale in the paper just a few days ago. I needed a cheap suit, something to get me by until I actually need a nice suit so I found one on their website for around $160. Not bad, fits my budget and it looks nice so I head in. I am awkwardly greeted by a man (no name or anything) after I tell him my size he looks for a few minutes and finds the suit I am looking for. The suit just doesn't fit right, extra roomy compared to similar suits I've tried. I say I don't like the fit, he tells me it is supposed to be like that and It will look normal once we adjust it. Then he says that there is a $18 alterations fee for the jacket and $15 for the slacks plus an additional $8 each for a rush fee (my fault I know), So $50 in alterations on a $160 suit? I explain to him about the 10% off sale and how much it will help out on the price. He says that doesn't apply and he cannot take any discounts on the item, which isn't even on sale. He then tells me he will be there until 6 and I can come back if I want. As he walks away he says "my name is Joe" with his back to me. I may be young but if I feel like i'm being taken care of I will spend the money, I felt like he didn't care if I was buying from him or not. I had to track this guy down every time I tried on anything, he was helping 4 people at once at one point. I will no doubt need more suits in the future and I will not buy any of them from Macy's. I ended up going to Nordstroms and getting a $500 suit from them because they know how to treat people. read more

I have to agree with the previous reviews. Do Not come here and expect friendly employees. I was simply walking through Macy's, looking around for something of interest, and little did I know that a Macy's employee was behind me. According to my boyfriend, this employee was making gestures at me to "walk faster" so that she may get to her fellow employee get together for small talk. She also gave me a condescending look. Stopped by to look for some clothes. The salesperson's command of English was poor enough to make communication difficult. Furthermore, she was unable to operate the computer inventory system - it took over 15 minutes and me getting behind the desk and walking her through her own system in order to find out if they could order an item for me. She could not even enter the brand name (a simple, Anglicized name for a very common brand) without me spelling it out. Needless to say, I will not be returning. read more

Be careful what you purchase from them as they will NOT stand behind their products. I purchased a pair of pants and they were defective, fabric fuzzing and pulling apart, haven't worn them much as I don't work & usually dress in leisure clothes so they should not be doing this, not even a year old! Asked to either return or exchange but was told they don't take ANYTHING back if it's been worn no matter if it's defective or not...no exception! They are eager to take your money and open a line of credit but God forbid they stand behind what they sell & do the right thing...if I can buy it somewhere else, trust me, I will! read more

Hi I am writing because of a bad experience I had at Origins in Macy's Thousand Oaks California. I was at origins with my daughter and she was purchasing several different things. In order to save time I said I would go to Lancôme and buy mascara that I use. The Origins sales associates woman that has been there for many years, said why don't you try Origins mascara? Try it and bring it back if you don't like it. I agreed paid cash and left. I used the mascara but really didn't like it as well as Lancôme. So today I made another trip to the malll to return it. The sales associate who had sold me the mascara was not there but some identifying herself as the Origins manager was behind the counter on her cell phone. I explained the whole thing and she informed me that if the product was opened she could not take it back because it was used. I felt this was wrong because the sales women had told me to use it and bring it back if I didn't like it. I asked to speak to the store manager who also refused the return. I love Origins but am not happy at the way I was treated. read more

I just sat at Macy's for 20 minutes trying to get 2 pairs of shoes to try on in my size. There must of been 14 people in line waiting and there was one person getting shoes. In October, weeks before it was due, I paid my Macy's bill. I have a canceled check, a paper receipt, an email receipt and a November billing statement acknowledging my payment. In December I received a call from Macy's billing department informing me that I had not paid my bill and that I was a deadbeat. Macy's spread this lie to the three credit reporting agencies. Finally this month (March) Macy's admitted that the screwup was the company's fault, not mine. I was told the lies about me would be removed from my credit reports. I'll believe it when I see it. I closed my Macy's account. Never again will I shop at Macy's. Macy's is closing 68 stores and firing thousands of employees because of disappointing sales. It comes as no surprise to me that a company that treats a customer -- me -- like garbage loses customers. read more

Coming to this Macy's used to feel like visiting old friends. In the past couple of years however I have noticed many familiar and friendly faces are no longer there. Customer service has declined drastically and many of the people working there now do not seem to know the merchandise on the floor and do not seem to be too happy to help, that is if you can even find someone around. Recently I asked to speak to a manager in INC and was very disappointed with the customer service displayed by this manager, how does management expect good service from the sales associates when they have such low standards for themselves. I read previous reviews and it seems like there have been others who has had this issue with the same manager with "brown hair and glasses" as described in other reviews. I hope things improve as I am a very loyal shopper but will take my business elsewhere if things don't improve. read more

I had purchased a sofa, dining room table, and 6 chairs. I purchased the Worry no more warranty. I called the warranty company, and they said I would first have to send pictures of the damage. I did. They then said it looks like a covered item, but they would send a technician to see it in person. The technician came to our home and inspected the table. He said it was a covered damage under the warranty, and would call within 5 days to set an appointment to come back and fix the damage. The next day, we get an email from the warranty service that they are denying my claim, AFTER the tech came out and said it would be take care of. Does this sound ethical to you? The tech said in plain English, he will come back to fix it! This is a total scam and run around. I checked with National Consumer Complaint Board, and would'nt you know it, there are complaint after complaint regarding denial of warranty. Shame on Macys, and shame on the Worry no more warranty for denying a covered damage. read more

I am very frustrated with Macy's new policy of making you come back days later to pick up your merchandise if you want to get the discount price. Their idea is probably to get you back in the store again but it is a HUGE turnoff! read more

I haven't had the best of luck in the ladies section (store), however, the men's section is a different story. I have gone back repeatedly to the men's dept with our two sons and have had nothing but positive results. You MUST ask for Nancee (with two e's) to assist you, she is the best....closely followed by Connie. Nancee has helped on 4 different occasions with suits, shirts and ties. She has a great eye, knows her department and will go the extra mile to make sure you get the best deal, fit, combination. On top of her expert help, she has an amazing attitude and personality. Can't say enough about Nancee and our deals in the men's dept. read more

I would like to say how rude employers and the mangers are at macys in Thousand Oaks, Ca..A thebeigging of this month. I went in for Cbt and told the manger I have never done a register before and I was told it was easy . When I would have a question the manger got upset and told me over and over its very easy. But I told her againI hadI never done this before. They did not give me any direction of any kind just put me on the training register and said to follow the directions. I never will reccomed anyone to work there or even shop at any of your Macy stores I have been told by many people I know say the personnel are rude and unfriendly.I would rather work at Jcpennys who are more friendly and are not rude and much cheaper prices. read more

I recently had to purchase a gift for my Grand daughter, and I had a sales clerk who was extremely helpful and patient! This isn't always the case when you go to department stores, half the time you can't find anyone to help you. She was terrific. DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM MACY'S!!!! I would give it zero stars but I can't. Two dressers, two head boards, two foot boards, two mirrors, and three night stands later we finally have a decent set. Not a spectacular set, which is what you would expect after spending so much money... the reason, because the dresser is damaged but they don't have any more in the factory to send us a new one. This has been a complete nightmare that has lasted about a month. Not worth it! Take your money and go somewhere else for furniture. read more

Very disappointed. I bought a Marc Jacobs watch from Macy's in The Oaks Mall, I had the watch fitted, and was told that the battery was new. Shortly after leaving the shop and trying to set the time I realized that the watch was not even ticking. I went straight back, and was told that I could exchange it for the same watch, but I had to take the one from the display counter. I asked how long the battery has been running, or how long it was going to last, and she had absolutely no idea. The staff were not very helpful, and the only choice I had was to take the only one working from the display counter. read more

Not what I've expected from Macys. After all they are considered one of the higher class retail stores. Ordered makeup online and decided to drop by to pickup the item. That was a mistake. The employee behind the makeup counter instructed me to pick up the item (that is supposedly in stock) at the men's store which is all the way on the other side of the mall. Once I got there and stood in line, the employee stated to go back to where I started to pick up the item. Is this frustrating or what? So I went back to the beauty department and asked another employee where is the item I ordered, and she didn't even know how to help me. Instead, she had to ask her fellow co-workers to solve the problem. What kind of training are they providing to their employees? Next time it would be simpler to visit the store and purchase it directly over the counter. The reason why I ordered online was because in the past, there were limited employees working in the beauty department and thought it would be quicker this way. Obviously Macys does not know how to manage retail sales and online sales simultaneously. read more
